After obtaining CT scans to accurately diagnose the issues, she coordinated my care seamlessly, arranging for endodontist Dr. Parth Karia and general dentist Dr. Trivedi to treat both teeth during the same visit. Dr. Parth Karia performed a complex repeat root canal on a tooth that another dentist thought had little chance of being saved. He was highly skilled, efficient, professional, and kind, and I had no pain during the procedure. Dr. Trivedi performed a difficult extraction of a tooth and then placed bone graft to fill the large defect in my jawbone. She was skilled, gentle, and efficient, making the procedure much easier than I expected. The entire team was outstanding, and I was in and out of the office in less than two hours. A place even Grandma will love!…read more Okay, okay, so I'm 70 years old (not sure how this happened). And I've been around the block, lemme tell you ... I had a dentist I loved, and then he suddenly disappeared. I showed up on Monday morning for my appointment, and all new signage was up. I asked the staff, and they had no idea. He'd just literally sold the business overnight and moved on. To this day we still don't know what happened. I didn't feel great about having a dentist take over that I was unfamiliar with, but it seemed to be okay. Then over and over, he kept recommending procedures that didn't seem necessary. He wanted cleanings every 4 months for no apparent reason. Then every other month he wanted to do a deep cleaning. I was constantly pressured to see their "preferred" periodontist. Every time I turned around, they needed to re-do a filling or re-do a cap. It just seemed weird. So I went for a second opinion, and that dentist told me "You don't need a cap, you just need to replace a filling. I was in-and-out, no hassle, no pressure, no fuss. Still puzzled, I began to research dental scams. I ran across a dentist from the east coast, and on his video, he outlined the top 10 dental scams. The old dentist had recommended 9 of those procedures! The video also used the example that if a dentist only makes $100 profit on a filling, but can make $2500 profit on a cap, the scam is to talk you into a cap. Wow. So I thought it'd be a great idea to find a nonprofit, because surely they wouldn't be into these scams. I found one I liked, and I love supporting nonprofits! They were okay for a little while. Then when I went in for routine x-rays and a cleaning, the dentist only cleaned 5 of my teeth??? I was puzzled when he said that was all that was needed. Seems I'd found the other end of the spectrum. On the one end was a guy who was recommending 9 unnecessary procedures, and on the other end, the guy only wanted to clean 5 of me teeth. aye aye aye Frustrated, I began to research again. I found Sunset Dental Arts and I liked the reviews. I gave them a try this afternoon. Clean bill of health, and no unnecessary procedures. (Imagine that.) They were warm, friendly, efficient ... and hey ... the dentist smiled and said, "We'll be cleaning ALL your teeth today." LOL! Couldn't ask for more that that! I'm a pleased customer, and I'm leaving 5 stars and smiling with ALL my healthy teeth!

Went to OC Smiles on Friday 3/13/26 for a loose implant because my dentist is closed on Fridays…read more Helena was great and the only good thing i will have to say about my experience. I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.

A few weeks ago, I went in for a standard cleaning. Instead of Dr. Sabet, I had Dr. Shaker (I believe her name was), but she was a female dentist. She started my cleaning and then informed me that I had 5mm pockets for 5 teeth. She said that I would need an antibiotic treatment to help my gums adhere to the teeth again. She said it would cost me $85 per tooth. That's a total of $425, which was way out of budget for me. I mentioned that and she offered to do either all the teeth or one quadrant. I did some research and saw that a deep cleaning could be an alternative treatment and was more cost efficient for me at $220. I asked for a deep cleaning instead to which she responded that she already did a deep cleaning for me that day, but "wouldn't charge me for it" since I was originally coming in for a standard cleaning. I was suspicious because it definitely felt like a standard cleaning instead and definitely didn't want to pay $425, even split up among visits. I took her word for it about the deep cleaning being done and agreed to do one quadrant since it was all I could cover. But since I had my suspicions, I contacted another dentist for a second opinion who told me I didn't actually need the antibiotic treatment, that it was optional, and that a deep cleaning would have sufficed. I decided to schedule a consult with my actual dentist, Dr. Sabet, to try and work out this conflict before disputing the charge. I thought he'd be reasonable and understand that I was misled to believe my only option was the antibiotic treatment. I would have definitely paid for a deep cleaning and even requested that several times with Dr. Shaker during my appointment. But she continued to push the antibiotic treatment saying she had done the deep cleaning during the appointment already. Of course she did. It's an upsell and they would make more money from me doing the antibiotic treatment instead of a deep cleaning. When explaining the situation to Dr. Sabet, he quickly became frustrated and began SHOUTING at me. I hadn't even raised my voice at him and I could tell he was misunderstanding what I was trying to communicate. Perhaps due to a language barrier? I tried explaining further, but he continued to interrupt me and eventually sent in someone from the front desk to speak to me instead. What professional yells at a patient? So unprofessional and completely childish. He kept stating that Dr. Shaker documented the cleaning as standard and never charged me for the deep cleaning which was exactly what I was trying to communicate had he listened to me. I ASKED FOR A DEEP CLEANING BECAUSE IT WAS THE CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE AND SHE DENIED ME THE SERVICE I REQUESTED BY LYING TO ME ABOUT DOING THE DEEP CLEANING THAT DAY SO I'D HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SELECT THE MORE EXPENSIVE ALTERNATIVE. I've never been spoken to like that by anyone in the medical field before and will be filing a formal complaint with the Dental Board about the practices at Orange Hill Dental. I'm so appalled by the behavior of the staff. Please consider another dental practice for your needs. They are condescending and talk to you like you're stupid. Definitely not coming back.

They told me they couldn't proceed because they needed approval from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA eventually approved the treatment, but the dental group never followed up with me. I had to reach out myself, and when I did, I was told that too much time had passed. They continued to tell me to come in, only to say they would get back to me afterward. It has now been a year, and the issue still hasn't been resolved. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this dental group to other veterans. If you're a veteran relying on them to coordinate your VA dental benefits, I strongly recommend making sure they actually follow through with your approved treatment.

Don't go here unless you're okay getting a second bill you weren't told about. Here's what…read morehappened. When I called to book my appointment, I asked what am I going to owe. I told them I was fine paying whatever it was, I just needed the number. They said they'd go over it when I came in. On 8/24 I was told fluoride and sealants (which they recommended) weren't covered, was quoted $181, I was okay with that and I paid it right there. I figured that was the whole bill, no additional charges as none were mentioned beyond that. Then about two weeks later I get another bill for $219.20. Nobody called, nothing explaining what it was for, I had to go log into MetLife and figure it out on my own. I asked about cost on the phone, they reviewed coverage not covered, I checked out, paid $181 and at no point did anyone say there might be more coming. Every other dentist I've been to tells you what your out of pocket is before you sit in the chair, and that's the number you pay. It doesn't double two weeks later. And honestly look at what the charges were. $152 for a "Comprehensive Oral Evaluation" where the dentist was in the room maybe two minutes. $220 for x-rays, $144 for a cleaning. Those are premium prices and the office was in the middle of a remodel, dust everywhere, stuff piled in the hallway. Not what you expect for what they're charging. I don't mind paying for good care. I do mind asking about cost and still getting surprised with a bill after the fact. At that point it stops feeling like a mistake and starts feeling like how they do business, and feels deceptive. There are a lot of dentists in Orange that will just tell you the real number up front. Go to one of those.
