In a time when so many schools feel increasingly standardized, Barnesville still feels deeply personal, intentional, and rooted in a genuine love of learning and childhood. There is a warmth to the community that is hard to describe but immediately felt. The teachers truly know and care about each child--not just academically, but as whole individuals. That kind of attention creates confident, curious, and kind students. This pattern of inconsistent discipline, favoritism toward certain children, and a dismissive attitude toward others raises serious concerns about inclusivity, fairness, and possible racial bias. In my observations, Gloria frequently displayed a rude and unwelcoming demeanor toward children she did not favor, while showing preferential treatment to others. This environment does not reflect the values of respect, equity, and inclusion that should be expected in a setting responsible for the well-being and development of children.

I also love the community feel of this school. Between events and other ways the school has gotten involved to help others, my family and I are just so happy to be apart of it. When you first walk in you are greeted and presented with the various projects that the shop has to offer. After selecting pottery painting, canvas painting, or glass fusing you are explained the next steps. We each selected two objects to paint and spent the afternoon in the studio painting away. We go pick up our art in 10 days which is the processing time. The shop does have a strict 60 day policy to pickup within or your art is thrown out. A fun and unique experience!

As a comparison, this is much more of an art class than a Paint Nite experience, in my opinion. That was totally fine for us, as we planned more for the evening. The general selection of ceramics was a bit smaller than other local places, but they offer a variety of stuff to choose from. In addition to the adult paint nights, they also offer kids classes (two hours, drop off). We'll be back.

Different sections of the building have been built at different times so the look is more quaint but it's clean and organized. Michele (the director) is amazing and goes above and beyond to make sure that you and your kids are taken care of and to make you feel like this really is a family environment. All of the teachers there are very warm and inviting and foster the family feel that Michele has established. My kids (now 10 and 4) have been going here for over two years now and I have no intention of taking them out! They love it here and I trust this center wholly.
