From the caring…read moreteachers to the welcoming atmosphere, it is clear that the staff genuinely care about the children and want them to succeed. The teachers are patient, attentive, and truly take the time to get to know each child. Our child has grown so much socially, emotionally, and academically, and we have been so impressed with the learning experiences and preparation for the next stage of school. We also really appreciate the communication with families. Being able to receive updates throughout the day gives us such peace of mind and makes us feel connected to our child's experience even when we can't be there. Most importantly, our child is HAPPY to go to school! Seeing them excited to see their teachers and friends each morning means everything. La Petite Himes Avenue has created a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and feel loved. We are so grateful to the entire Himes Avenue team and would absolutely recommend this school to families looking for quality childcare and early education in Frederick!

As a grandparent picking up my grandson there I would say the teaching staff was always lovely. I…read morewill also say to their detriment is that La Petite is concerned about their money first and foremost . My daughter gave a full time tuition. They made her sign a paper stating when the child would be dropped off/ picked up even though her work schedule was variable weekly ... and they knew that. If she arrived later than the time they made her state then they wouldn't allowy grandson to attend that day.,. Even though they received full time tuition. I quickly leadned that they did that to observe only necessary teacher - student ratios to pay the least hourly teacher wages possible. Also, many times at the end of the day, your child would be in another classroom because they had already sent your child's classroom teacher home and put them with another teacher until uou arrived .... Also to save them money. Management seems nice but is not transparent at ALL. Be wary. Get what you pay for and be sure to ask about full time tuition and open hours . Bonus : They also like to send kids home for any health reason they can imagine.

I'm so happy that I found this center for my son. On our first meeting we met with Xiao, the center director, and he paired us with Emily to begin with an initial verbal and written assessment to pinpoint his struggle areas. My son was very quiet and kind of closed off, but Emily was so patient and kind while she worked with him. I didn't hesitate to enroll because, it's a very constructive and warm and inviting learning environment. I know that it is early in this journey, but they spent quite a bit of time on the first day working with him. We scheduled his first two sessions immediately so that we didn't have to wait until after the new year to get started. Even though it's the holiday season he will have an opportunity to get lessons before we break for the holidays. As I waited, I could hear my son opening up as Emily worked with him. I have a feeling this will be a great experience for him, and I can't wait to post a follow up in 6 months.

Located in Everedy Square in Downtown Frederick, I Made This Pottery Studio is a super fun place…read morewhere you can express your creativity and paint various pieces of pottery. There are no reservations, so you just walk in, select your pottery and paint away. I visited on a Sunday, so it was full when I arrived, but the staff took my name and number and called me when as soon as a table opened up, about 25 minutes. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and willing to answer any questions you may have about paint, brushes, techniques, etc. Visitors pay the price of the pottery, plus half of the sales price for the glaze and firing of the piece. They were having a 20% off sale for Valentine's Day when I went. All sorts of people partake in this activity, so you could find yourself witnessing a children's birthday party, listening to teens laugh and joke around and watching adult couples show off their artistic skills for a fun afternoon out. You can also bring your own food and drinks to partake while you paint. I would definitely recommend this studio to people of all ages and artistic levels. It's a super fun and relaxing activity.
