This year she began to manifest some struggles with emotional and sensory regulation, and her teachers (Ms. Susan and Ms. Allie) and the staff (Ms, Heather and Ms. Brenda) have been very patient, supportive, and creative as we work on these challenges with them and other caregivers. However, as time has worn on, it seems like the true colors of the school has shown themselves. The owners of the School (in particular Jill) seems to be all about the money. I don't understand how they can justify increasing the costs each & every single year (when they already charge an arm and a leg for tuition across the board) & they say it's due to them losing their talented teachers to the local Public Schools. Jill thinks throwing more & more money at the Teachers will make them want to stay at Goddard. I think the reality is why don't you create a better culture and focus more on the environment for the Teachers to be happy in. They even created a Kindergarten program for the first time this year. Instead of the classroom being located inside of the building, they added a Trailer outside of the building next to the Playground. It seemed as though the class was totally separate from the School itself (literally & figuratively). There were also many times throughout the year when we received conflicting messages/emails between the Goddard School & the Kindergarten classroom on different activities & events. At times, this caused us confusion and many emails/phone calls to the school to determine what was really going on. If you are looking for a quality Pre-School located in Urbana, I would HIGHLY recommend going with Kid's Villa Learning Center. Save yourself the money & the headaches

I thought…read moremoving to a new town and a new school would be a bit overwhelming for her, but with Goddard's help she took it all in stride. They embraced our little granddaughter and the responsibility for her learning care with all the gusto we could hope for in those charged with caring for her for a significant part of her day. Now five, she gets up each day knowing and excited that something new and different awaits her. Learning is everywhere and concern for her well being is front and center. Be it their attentiveness to her numerous allergies or their proactive eye towards seeing that she is in the right level and with the right classmates so that she continues to be challenged, the school is a great fit for our always curious grand baby. An added bonus has been the daily sharing by email of her progress as she navigates a balance of guided work and learning play that the curriculum affords each student. I'm confident she has been well served and will be more than kindergarten ready in the fall, but her time at Goddard will not have ended there. Being just steps away from her new primary school, we will be taking advantage of Goddard's before and after care program giving us the reassurance that she has a safe and nurturing place to get homework out of the way and be with friends until we come to collect her. We've never had second thought about enrolling her.

Having come from an urban environment where people really don't care for anyone but themselves, it stunned me to feel the kindness and gentle nature of the students and staff. We're not gushy folks, but it's hard to resist the loving and creative vibe from the school and kids - they are really a family. They are ever ready to help and always look out for each other. If someone is sad or hurt, there's always another child and staff member there to make them feel better. It's part of their nature. The school's director, Kit Hays, is passionate and dedicated to the students and families. She pours her heart into developing the most creative and thoughtful curriculum as well as carefully weaving in modernity and diversity. Not only are the staff skillfully qualified as Montessori instructors, they truly love teaching and nurture all their students. Students are encouraged to develop their existing strengths and are supported to take on new challenges when they are ready (like reading) - really meeting kids where they are and helping them to shine. Kids are not forced into learning; it seems like they sort of bloom when they are ready. Using this gentle approach, it's amazing to see how many kids are reading and counting at such a young age. They integrate many aspects of learning into their daily routine so there's no real separation between laughter and learning - it's one and the same. Even when they play games, there's a thoughtful educational element embedded in the fun. You can tell the kids enjoy every second they are there while, even when they are in "work time". At one point my daughter was having a difficult time going to school, weepy and clingy when it was time to go. Each day when we arrived at school, Ms. Kit and a handful of children were there to greet my daughter - a welcome committee! They literally embraced her and reminded her that she was an integral part of the family. We feel so lucky to have been able to join the Rainbow family (no wonder there's a waiting list every year!) and know our daughter has the educational foundation and confidence to succeed in her entire school career and life. We are ever thankful for all they have given our family. Our daughter is inquisitive, open-minded, thoughtful and thirsty for knowledge and challenges - just like all the children lucky enough to be part of the Rainbow family.

I…read morecould detail my many minor frustrations with the lack of communication and what seems to be intentional deceit with moving students between classes without notifying parents, but I feel the two major incidents that caused us to leave will speak for themselves: In the last week and a half my daughter was first directly given a known allergen by a staff member, causing an ER visit and extremely stressful day for my whole family. To be clear, this was not an accidental exposure - she was handed a cup of milk despite having a well-documented allergy to milk. Yesterday, my daughter was sent home with dried feces caked on the back of her shirt from a BM that occurred at 10 AM. She was walking around all day with a significant amount of feces on her. Based on the fingerprints and smudges she was touching it frequently, so it is fair to assume that everything she touched and even the other children she interacted with were exposed to the potential bacteria and illnesses known to be in feces. When I called to address both issues their response essentially amounted to 'mistakes happen.' Obviously this was extremely upsetting given these two incidents so close together, which clearly indicates a larger issue. After a tense but professional phone call with the owner I was told my daughter was no longer allowed to attend, effective immediately. Luckily we were already making plans since we didn't feel she was safe there anyway, but I was still appalled that rather than bear responsibility they chose to dismiss it. I am truly fearful for every student in that center. I don't know what it is happening but there is a clear lack of appropriate management and it is putting kids' well being at risk.

Every day, she surprises us with how much she's learned: letters, words (English, Spanish, and sign language), colors, animals- and she genuinely enjoys it. Sometimes, I have to work to entice her to leave! As two working parents with often opposing schedules, the on site chef is a major convenience as it leaves one less thing for us to worry about. The staff is warm, patient, kind, fun, and engage the kids in a variety of activities to keep them learning and having fun. They readily chat with me about her day and answer any questions I may have. I get daily reports about what she's learning, eating, dsiaper changes and potty training, naps, and loads of fun pictures! She's not always an angel and they apply patience, thoughtful boundaries, and kindness in helping her learn the appropriate behaviors. I had to chime in and improve the rating as one person had a different experience eight years ago and gave one star, but we truly value this business and wanted to share our experience.

My 3 year old started school at Clarksburg Little steps on opening day and he has grown into an independent, well-spoken, and determined 5 year old. He has been introduced to concepts in practical living that are life-long skills and will serve him well for years to come. He feels as he has the freedom to explore and extend his thinking in a safe, clean, and caring environment. At first I felt like the Montessori style seemed like magic that kids will roll out a mat and calmly work with a material, putting it away when they're done, etc. It of course takes time to teach them this, but I am a believer after seeing the progress our son has made. He also takes pride in the independence he has gained and when he successfully accomplishes a task. We feel so lucky to have found a school where our son seemed to be thriving at. I could not ask for better care for my daughter. My little one started this daycare when she was 7…read moremonths old. There's a six year gap between my daughter and my next youngest child. (She was our beautiful little surprise.) I was already established in my career and felt it would be best for the family if the baby could start daycare so I could continue my career and being a strong provider for the family. Though I have multiple children, this was the youngest age I had ever left any of my children with anyone who was not a trustworthy family member. Even as a mom of multiples, it never gets easier to leave a baby for the first time. I went above and beyond researching and visiting different daycares but none of them gave me the vibe I needed to feel good about leaving my baby. That was until I met everyone at this amazing daycare. My daughter took to them the minute she met them. My baby was calm and smiling as if she had known them from birth. My daughter has grown so much while she's been at this daycare - from beginning to crawl to standing on her own - she has fallen into a comfortable routine and has blossomed beautifully here. Right as I get my baby out of the car in the morning, she starts smiling and jumping in my arms because she knows where she's about to go. At the end of the day, when I pick her up, she's always clean, fed and happy. It's like a home away from home for her. I couldn't ask for better care for my daughter. It's truly been a blessing!
