Wings
C R.

Pizza was spot on and the wings did the trick! We were just looking for a bite and we were quite pleased. The staff was warm and helpful even though they were shorthanded and running like crazy. The KBBQ wings were tender and tasty and the pizza crust was just like hubby prefers. Nice crust with a doughy edge.

I've had their calzones more than a handful of times and it's good! I prefer that over the pizzas. I always get the spinach one and they let you add one topping free of charge. The crust here is good, but the cheese is a little runny.

Excellent service and delicious food. Large menu , Large variety of food options and drinks from beer to wine.

Bruschetta pizza

Food is ok and the prices are great. We have been there about 6 times in the last month & unfortunately the service has been terrible. You have the staff all around the bar talking about how someone got fired. Another talking about her quitting. Just oblivious to the customers around them. The breadsticks are great when they are well done & dipped in ranch

Rolls

Update on my five star review. This place is like most other places in the desert. Very inconsistent! I had the best pizza ever the first time. This time we got half margarita and half meat pizza and both were really bad! I didn't take pictures but the margarita pizza had way too much garlic and too many large too tomatoes on top and not much else. The meat was way too much meat and for some reason didn't taste great. The chicken salad in the other hand was very good! All the dressings were tasty as well. The rolls were good but not as good as before. We will try again but will stick to the pepperoni pizza we had first.

Good food! Pizza and breadsticks are delicious. Service is good. Pitchers of beer are reasonably priced, good selection.

The Shrimp Caserecce Alla Vodka was definitely the best dish we had--really flavorful and the highlight of the meal. The Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza was also very good. For dessert, we tried the New York cheesecake, gelato, and an affogato. All three were good and a nice way to finish the meal. The service was great and everyone was friendly. The restaurant was a little warm inside, but it was extremely hot outside, so that may have been part of it. Overall, Kiki's was good. We started our evening with their homemade focaccia, which was an absolute standout. It was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For our mains, we shared Tony's pizza and the bucatini and meatballs. The pizza was spectacular, the crust was dialed in perfectly with just the right amount of crisp and chew. The bucatini pasta itself was thick and absolutely delicious. Our only real critique of the night was the meatballs; unfortunately, they were a little cold right in the center. That being said, the flavors across every single dish were spot on. It is clear that Kiki's puts a lot of love into their food, especially their homemade doughs and pastas. We will absolutely be back to give them another try!

Despite the almost one hour we had to wait, the food was pretty good. We ordered Sheri's Famous Wings and a small Sabatino's Special pizza to share. The wings were ginormous and were cooked almost perfectly. I think they brine them to keep the interior moist and flavorful. The exterior was still pretty crispy when they arrived. The pizza was good. The crust was between a thicker crust and a thin crust pizza. The sauce was tasty and I loved all the veggies on top. Despite all the toppings loaded on top, the middle of the pizza was definitely cooked well.

As our host walked us back to our table. I noticed how beautiful, classy, chic, superb, super clean it was, and so wear the restrooms. This Italian restaurant is huge, Everything inside was super elegant! As we sat down, we were greeted by our waiter Jack. Jack asked us if we had any questions, he answered them all beautifully! So we ordered Bocconcini di Mozzarella Caprese, Shrimp Dijon della Casa, 2 Linguine alle Bolognese, Fresh Minestrone Zuppa, Gnocchi al Pesto, fettuccini Alfredo with chicken, Fettuccine Alfredo with sausage, Risotto Tutto Mare, Risotto con Funghi with chicken, 2 order king crab legs. Their signature Bread is so delicious!! Everything was so mouth watering & highly delicious!! Everything explodes in your mouth, the savory tastes, I wished I could have eaten more, I was full! I also want to make a note, I normally do not eat crab at all. Once I tried & tasted the king Crab I was floored it's the best crab I have ever had! On top of that, Uriel was constantly making sure are glasses of waters, sodas, alcohol were always full without us asking us he was on it ! Castelli's is now my #1 Italian place to go to! Highest quality of their food, portion size was incredible, hospitality amazing! Their price points are so spot on! I highly recommend anyone who looking a a fabulous & delicious place to eat please come here! Jack & Uriel were so polite, kind, sweet, caring, super down to earth ! These are your rare diamonds please treasure them well! I would love to Thank Castelli's & their staff for our wonderful Mother's Day Dinner, with deliciousness & awesomeness on the side! I would especially love to Thank Jack, Uriel, Juan for making sure we had everything we needed ! You guys Rock! We definitely will be back again!! Can't wait!! Castelli's is a large, popular spot in Palm Desert, with live music, a busy bar scene, and a menu…read morethat aims to hit just about every category of Italian-American cuisine, succeeding almost all of the time. The valet is friendly, the hosts are accommodating, and the entire staff of servers is polite, professional and proficient. It's a well-run enterprise, and locals surely appreciate the combination of quality and efficiency. We arrived early for our reservation, but were told our table was ready. To be honest, I was a tad disappointed that we were seated on the enclosed patio, which is a perfectly lovely area but totally removed from the live music and jovial energy of the main room. I could have requested a change, but seeing no seats available at the bar, I knew that a wait would be a duller affair, so we adjusted to the more subdued atmosphere. Our server, Robert (always polite and professional) was a bit harried at first, but warmed up as things went along and proved to be a most amiable waiter. The pour on my wife's glass of wine was astoundingly large (she never finished it), and though my martini had traditional dimensions, it was quite properly made and very satisfying. Everyone mentions Castelli's garlic bread, presented gratis where other places would provide plain bread & butter. But it's not just the price that's right; these slices of buttery, garlicky crostini are about as foodie fantastic as any bread service you're likely to get at a neighborhood spot. They're also the backbone of the appetizer I ordered: Escargot Italiano. When I asked what made the escargot "Italian" (fearing some deployment of tomatoes), I was told it was the usual preparation, but with crostini instead of shells. Well, that wasn't 100% true, as the preparation also included freshly shaved Parmesan cheese that emulsified the garlicky butter sauce, making it thicker, richer, and a much more luxurious bite. Using the house garlic toast to then soak up the extra sauce may have been gilding the lily, but I figure that was my compensation for not hearing the live music! For our main, my wife and I shared one of the daily specials: a trio of Filet Mignon Medallions served with a Marsala wine sauce over Fettuccini Alfredo (the house specialty pasta). This was a very generous portion that neither of us could have finished on our own, and the optimal entree for going halfsies. The fettuccini was quite properly prepared, with the al dante pasta clinging nicely to a rich, flavorful sauce. The beef was tender as can be and cooked to a good medium rare. This was very good steak... but... the Marsala sauce was off. My wife had no issues, but I found it very acidic and unpleasant. I don't know if there was an extra ingredient at play (balsamic?) or if the alcohol wasn't fully cooked out, but something made this sauce very sour to me, and it really undermined my enjoyment of the beef. Not a Cardinal sin, but I found myself wishing I'd ordered something else. So why am I still giving Castelli's 4 stars? Because so very much about the meal was 100% on point; a few miscalculations (whether theirs or ours) doesn't mean I wouldn't come back. I'd just be sure to sit inside, and I'd probably opt for the Veal Parmigiana, which looked darned near perfect when delivered to a neighboring table. And because the staff is doing good things... if one thing was off, they still deserve a bit of grace.

The entrance lead you down a hallway toward the hostess stand, with couches, a bar and a piano being played to the left. To the right , you enter the main dining room. The space felt open, elegant, and immediately welcoming. Talk about fine dining at its best. The hostess was able to quickly seat our party of six, and our server immediately brought over the menus and filled our water glasses. THE FOOD: We started with the oysters , and they did not disappoint. They were served with a shallot mignonette which was vinegary in all the right ways. They were so good, that we ended up ordering a second round. For dinner, we all ordered the steak with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the mushrooms and broccoli stood out. Everything was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the actual flavors of the vegetables. Even the bread was so good. It was served with three different butters. And dessert? Also top notch. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner with friends. THE SERVICE: The service really added to the experience. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. The GM, Ray, also stopped by our table, and we ended up chatting and joking with him a bit. He was incredibly friendly and personable and made sure we were having a great experience. Between the setting, the food, the genuinely attentive service, this as one of those dinners where it all felt elevated. Definitely one of the many highlights of our stay at La Quinta Resort.

Morgan's in the Desert: Disappointment After Disappointment. $400 for Meh…read more After living in La Quinta for four years, we were ready to try Morgan's, as it's one of the last foodie restaurants in the Coachella valley that we haven't tried. We arrived early for our reservation, excited to grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Then we were told our table was already available... only to be seated at a dining table in the bar, off to the side, where apparently servers do not exist while staring at the back of the pianist and the barflies. The two bartenders were fantastic--especially Brian, who was working at warp speed--but they already had a packed bar to manage. Adding dining tables to their workload was clearly not realistic. Why were we seated there? Still a mystery. Reservation problems: I booked through the QR code advertised in The Gem for the August prix fixe dinners at La Quinta Resort's restaurants. When we arrived, we were told the prix fixe menu wasn't available that day. Sorry! So we ordered bread and oysters instead. About 15-20 minutes later, the manager came over and said they would honor the prix fixe after all. Great! Except... we'd already ordered appetizers. ‍ And wow, was it SLOW. We were seated at 5:30 and still didn't have our entrées at 7:00. Drinks regularly sat empty, and once the restaurant got busy around 6:30, water refills disappeared completely. Did I mention it was 110 degrees outside? The food? A mixed bag--but overall, wildly overpriced and underwhelming. * Oysters: Ice-cold and served with a good mignonette. Also pricey. * Bread: Fresh and warm, but the olive tapenade was aggressively salty. Again, overpriced. * Watermelon salad: The winner! Refreshing, flavorful, and the spicy nuts gave it a nice kick. Highly recommend. * Chicken cacciatore: Dry chicken, undercooked tomatoes, overcooked pasta. Never again. * Oscar filet: Delicious and well-prepared, but nothing memorable or special--especially for the price. Bottom line: We spent about $400 for a frustrating, painfully slow, mostly mediocre meal. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend that kind of money on "meh." We won't be back.
