Ate here long ago and remembered as ok. Hoped to eat here again, but only vegetarian options were salads (usually boring) and fried food (tasty but not healthy). No veggie burger, no hummus dip, no veg stir fry, not even grilled cheese or pizza bread. Not sure if pizza was available. Was busy when visited, so apparently popular, and menu seemed reasonably priced. Plenty of parking, indoor space, and seating. Vetoed entire family due to lack of vegetarian options, so we went elsewhere. read more

Three of us recently went to Turtle's on steak night. Dinner was good, but there were other reasons for not returning. First thing, there was a sign on the wall shaming the customers in an extremely rude way about not tipping the waitresses. We were informed that there is a surcharge on blue cheese dressing and after paying the bill we realized that the bill and the amount paid didn't add up. When the waitress was asked about it, she immediately got on the defensive and asked why she was being attacked. She was not being "attacked". She was being asked a question. I'm not aware that we need to read the whole receipt before paying for a meal. We suggested that they put up a sign that people could see to explain why there was a difference. That confrontation not only lost a customer, but many (!) family members. read more

We like Turtle's Tap, but the last time we were there (August 2020) none of the servers were wearing masks. The hostess said that they are not required. In addition, they were seating people in every booth which puts you only 1-2 feet from the person behind you. We will not be back until we deem it safe to eat there. read more

This is a great family friendly place! We took the kids on a weekend, and it was great to walk in and not wait for a table. This isn't because the place was dead on a weekend, but because they have plenty of seating and they are properly staffed to accommodate their customers. Our waitress was very friendly and provided the right amount of service. What I really enjoyed here was the unique variety of food! They have a huge appetizer list (try the broccoli cheese bites- they were great!), Pizzas, pastas, steaks, sandwiches, ribs... Just about anything you could hope for. Kids meals are reasonably priced, and plentiful that they satisfied my 11 year old who usually orders from the adult menu. The warm bread sticks served with meals are a nice touch. I opted for a sirloin, and it was cooked exactly how I ordered it. They also have an extensive dessert menu. Try the skillet cookie. There's plenty to share! read more

A group of us went there today. Food was really great,Most everyone had their burgers and they are unusual and delicious. The bills were separated and very Reasonably priced, a lot of food and I found the service very good. Our orders were taken promptly, served hot, drinks served and all in all would go back again bringing friends. We made reservations and Covid practices were in place so all were safe, well fed, and happy. read more

Used to love this place... 12 years ago. The decor is so outdated it's not even pleasant walking in anymore. I recommend the owners paint and revamp the place to a more modern and contemporary design. And please tear out that awful tiki sports bar area. Oh and the games. Gross. On to the food... The house dressing is awesome and always has been. The rest of the food is overpriced and low quality. We used to go just for the skillet cookies, but they've gotten expensive and it's no longer a novel or unique idea. I could see this on a show like Kitchen Nightmares someday. They could use Chef Ramsey's advice... Just saying. Anyway, improve the food quality, update the decor, and hire quality staff and I think this place may actually be saved. I hope. read more

We just left Turtles and social distancing is nonexistent there; I called beforehand to ask and was told they were seating every other table, that was not the case. Also none of the staff wore masks and told us the health department said wearing them was optional as was capacity, they said they are seating 100%. And the main reason we came to Turtles was for their filet, no filets tonight even though they're listed on their website. So I ordered a rib-eye which was so tough it was hard to cut! Awesome Ribeyes! Decent prices, always had great food when I visited here. The service isn't "the best" but it's BF illinois what do you expect? The highlight here for me is the steak for sure. The kids menu story below is kinda sad (shame on you turtles) but that being said, I wouldn't choose this joint if I could only eat 4oz, portions are very midwestern in style. I had lunch there yesterday which was good & we had a great waitress but we were handed throw away paper menus that had obviously been reused alot, with multiple grease spots, dirty finger spots, lots of wrinkles & lots of little tears on menu, obviously reused a lot. Have they heard about the very contagious virus out there? I handed it to my waitress and said please burn this menu & you could tell she had no idea what I was referring to. Where is management? Something so very obviously wrong makes one wonder about what I can't see which looked good. Won't be going back any time soon unfortunately, probably should have left. Pretty solid food quality. I have had quite a few of their dishes and no complaints. Service can be hit or miss sometimes when they are busy but never terrible. I love the salad that has the apples and sweet potato sautéed in it! Must try it! Their bread sticks are also very tasty. Have never had enough room to try desert! read more

I like Turtles. It's a nice little restaurant with awesome turtle drawings all over the place. Really dig the vibe. The food is decent. I kind of wish the portions were bigger, came away from here still hungry. But the food was good. And I think that is the most important part. Our waitress was very good, attentive, nice. I really wish I could give this place more stars but there's really nothing stand-ouish about it. Definitely check it out sometime if you have the chance and see for yourself what it has going on. I've been in a couple of times while visiting my folks in Morris. My stepdad happens to despise the place, complaining that their chairs are always broken and the service and food are both bad. My mom tends to agree. But they agreed to give it a shot as my husband hadn't been and was curious, and my review was favorable. The atmosphere is casual and very much family friendly, despite it having a full bar (with lots of delicious-sounding frozen drink options). The service was somewhat slow, but friendly. This time I ordered a seafood combo, including beer battered cod and shrimp and Italian shrimp. I didn't care for the Italian shrimp, but the rest of the meal was delicious. The house salad was alright. I tried my stepdad's broccoli cheese soup it tasted very out-of-the-can cheesy with limp broccoli -- pretty awful! My husband had the sirloin, which he said was quite good though not outstanding. My daughter had beer-battered chicken breast and it was very moist and flavorful. My husband and I agreed we'd happily return, hopefully when I'm able to enjoy some of the selections off the drink menu. But next time we'll visit without my folks as they were once again unimpressed (mom with her sirloin, stepdad with his chicken tenders). read more

This restaurant has been in Morris IL for many years, they are known for they're fried chicken and combo dinners of ribs fish and chicken. They need to remodel the inside, it's very outdated but I guess that's what gives it its old time charm. Good Eats: Ribs, fried chicken. The salads that come with the dinners are very good! We usually only go to Turtles for the Monday night Rib-Eye Special. Try the House Salad dressing. The house salad dressing is so good that we often order a container to go. Relaxing atmosphere. This restaurant is very involved in the community, such as providing free meals at Thanksgiving for anyone and just about everyone attends and gifts to needed at Christmas. read more

Every once in awhile, my husband and I forget about the poor food and end up in Turtle's Tap. However, this last trip is definitely the last! Of all the restaurants we've been to, this is the one I always have problems with. Either there's a puddle of water under the undrained noodles or, as in last week, a rare steak that was actually raw. Not only that, it had no sear - just a deathly grey pallor. When offered to to go to the kitchen to show the cooks how to treat a steak, the server got a little nervous. Oh, heck - I was just kidding - sort of. Sent it back and, when it returned it had a good sear but the inside was still a bit raw. My guess is the steak was taken out of the freezer and put on a barely hot grill. I'm not that picky, but when I go to a restaurant and end up with a problem plate in nearly every instance, then it's time to look elsewhere. read more

Came up to Dwight from Pontiac to eat at Station 343. The Station gave us poor service with a smile, we were passed up for a seat, so we came to The Tap because it was close. I am so thankful for the poor service at The Station because I had one of the best steaks I've eaten in Illinois. Good atmosphere, great service, and an exceptional meal. The Rib Eye was awesome and the Ribs were equally tasty. When I go to Dwight I will definitely be walking past Station 343 and heading for Turtle's Tap. I love this place! It's a little run down and not the cleanest. Ok, not the friendliest either, but the beer battered chicken is to die for. I have tried other menu items, just to be creative, but always...always go back to the chicken. It is a huge portion and is awesome heated up the next day. Waiting for your food here is a biblical endeavour, and you will most likely waste away in your booth. Year after year I have come here and the service is always glacially slooooow, made even worse by the so-so food. The steaks I've gotten have been rubbery, burnt, or just funny-tasting in general. The fries are always soggy. The breadsticks are tasty, but the free appetizer should not be the best thing about your meal. I'll go if it's someone else's idea, it's tolerable enough, but don't come on an empty stomach or you won't survive. read more

Haven't been back to this place in years and was hoping for better food, however when I ordered their new burrito bowl it was horrible! I am a vegetarian, so obviously i asked for no meat. When I got it, I found small chicken pieces throughout the entire bowl which meant that this was a pre-packaged item that was not freshly made in the kitchen... Yuck!!
