I've been here several times over the past 10 years. We celebrated 4th of July this year there and it was so fun. The band that played all the hits from 60s 70s and 80s rocked it! I've heard of this place and it has been on my radar for a long time so, I finally got to come out here. It's actually located closer to Lanesville. I am thankful for GPS I will say or I may have never found this place. I went down a long very narrow gravel road and it is actually kinda hidden with the houses on that road. It blended in so well I almost went to the house across the way lol. I saw the sign that directed me to the winery. They have a spacious patio and the inside is rather small and do sell wine by the bottle. I asked if they were doing tastings or not due to Covid and was told they were. 8 tastings for $5 not a bad deal right? I was the only one there so I did get some one on one attention. I was even educated on how and what fruits they use if they are fermented or not. I also got some crackers when I started off with the dry reds. I been told to start with reds vs. sweet. Even learned the more sweet the wine is the lesser the alcohol in the wine. I liked the Chardonel and Blue my mind, I wanna say there were more sweets I liked but, I only photographed one side of the menu apparently. My host was friendly and knowledgeable, was told there is live music on Saturday or Sundays, maybe better to check their Facebook for more details. She thanked me for coming out and to come back. It's been a little while since our visit here but my mom and I definitely enjoyed stopping in. It was rainy the day we went, otherwise I would have loved to enjoy a glass out on their patio! They were conducting their wine tastings in the back on that day as I think they had had some larger groups in earlier that day. I believe it was the owner who lead our tasting and we loved hearing about all their wines and how they were made. He was extremely knowledgeable. They have quite a few wines to check out, too. One thing we really liked was they don't add additives like tannins or oak- this prevents the common headache red wine can cause. My mom and I nick-named their wine "no-headache wine!" Fun place to try some new wines, they do have a lot of sweet ones. You can occasionally catch a concert on the grounds, while we enjoyed a couple bottles of wine that they were nice to provide a chilling bucket. honestly, a surprisingly good experience. We ended up here because it was cool and didn't go on the lake.. we rolled up and nearly left, not much curb appeal. But once you get out of the parking lot and past the landscaping a good time awaits. You'll likely be greeted by a wonderful and friendly puppy dog outside.. then very friendly folks inside. We had a group of 4 and all did a tasting.. 8 tastings for something like $5 or $8 i believe? Some of the wine was a bit sweet for me, but others had a good chunk of flavor. Our gal that poured and talked to us was super friendly and told us about every wine and the winery history. A couple of us took bottles home... however, i opted for some dip they had in the shop, Hatch Chili, Bacon and Ranch I think? sounds delicious! Our second wine stop of the day on a gray, chilly Saturday. What better way to warm up than with some wine? Southern Indiana is very helpful with the signs to help you find the little wineries! It is much appreciated. Turtle Run is a nice little place. We were greeted by the cute, kitty welcoming committee (two adorable cats). You walk up the path to a lovely deck, and into the building. First inside in the register and retail area. They were doing tastings back in the warehouse area. Definitely adds to the tasting charm to be surrounded by the wine barrels! The tasting is complimentary, and they recommend 8 samples, as that equals about a full serving of wine. If you have made you selections but indicate that you really liked a certain one, they may offer another one from the list that is similar that you may also like. That is really appreciated and shows that they listen to what you are saying when you are sipping away. Their thing is that they don't add extra sugar to the wine. But the sweet wine is still sweet :-) They are on one of several wine trails and the host guiding our tasting gave us on of the cards. They only had one left, but that was fine. They were also kind enough to stamp the other wineries we had already been to but hadn't known were on the trail. Our tasting host also offered to take a photo of us in front of the barrels, and that was really kind. We certainly took her up on the offer. The only negative is that in the warehouse/tasting room, there were a LOT of flies. But that might be normal, I don't know. Most places have tasting rooms separate from the aging area. After our tasting, we bought a few bottles of wine. They offered us a box instead of bags, because they knew we had been to one winery already and one more after. They also gave us clear directions, via the country roads, to the next winery on our list. Very friendly, tasty wine, definitely worth a visit! read more

Upon arrival we were immediately hit with a plume of smoke coming from a fire somewhere on the grounds. The winery looked a little lackluster with an old tiny shop and check-out area. Wine tasting was in the warehouse on a few folding tables (no bar, chairs, napkins, glasses, etc.). I would not have even called it rustic charm. We didn't get to try any of Turtle Run wines because the winery was short staffed and too busy with a group of (rather rude) people. Maybe if there had been live music (that everyone writes about), snacks or something to occupy us we would have waited around, but in the end, we walked away. read more

This is a great hidden gem of southern Indiana! Set back from a main road it has plenty of space to check out. The patio is a nice space with some tables. I was told they do love music during the weekends and people can bring picnic supplies (no outside booze though) to hang out and enjoy the music. They have a wide selection of wine and I love that the wine list designates what % of the grape composition is grown onsite. I always try to lean towards something farm to bottle at a winery. My brother likes sweeter wines while I prefer dry but we were able to settle on Robins Revenge which was the perfect balance. We stopped in and did a tasting, received a free (!) tour, and purchased a few bottles for the road and the rack back home after tasting how delicious they were! The owners were knowledgeable about their craft and the tour went heavier into the science of wine-making than any previous winery or vineyard tour I've done. I only have visited this winery when I ride the Tour de Pork, which it hosts annually. I was impressed with the organization of the ride, proceeds of which benefit the Ohio Greenway Project, and the offering of FREE wine tastings to participants after the ride. This us a small, family-owned winery that makes some very flavorful wines. In the 3 years that I have ridden in the Tour and tasted wines, I've never tasted a wine that was unsavory. Also, during summer months, the winery has live bands play normally on a weekly basis. It's really a nice place to visit. read more

Jim is the most intense (in a good way) owner of a winery we've been to. He's passionate about his product and will talk forever on that subject. Loved the wines here, especially the Max's Small Batch Red #55, The Mammatus 2018, the Traminette 2019, and the Red My Mind 2018! Sue was a great sommelier, and was very entertaining and knowledgeable about her wines! I'd definitely come back, but just know that you'll see more cornfields from the patio rather than the vines on the other side, and the tasting is in the barn where they literally were piping in the juice from the grapes while we were there! read more

This was our 2nd stop (of 5) on a winery tour through southern Indiana. We were here for maybe an hour. So take that into consideration. We enjoyed chatting with Jim and Laura. Jim was our main contact- and he really knows his stuff! He can give detailed explanations about the process of making and decisions made about the wine. He also can share great knowledge about food pairing. There was one moment when one in our group was about to eat a piece of white chocolate before tasting one of the wines and he politely stopped her- because he knew those two wouldn't go together. He recommended trying a certain cheese available on the table before tasting the wine she had in her hand. This is just a microcosm of his awareness about his wines. The gift shop had a lot of good items. Some branded magnets, shirts, etc. Make sure you try a chocolate turtle while you're here! And the selection of wines is larger than I expected. Lots of great choices! We really liked the "Mind" wines, especially "Slipped My Mind". The sweet reds were great- but not overly-sweet. We enjoyed the dry options too. I did not hear everything Jim was saying on this, but apparently some (or all?) of their wines are made without any sugar. They are able to retain some of the sweetness without all the sugar normally in a sweet wine. We thought this was a very cool detail! We were here on a Saturday- so it was packed. In fact, Jim had a hard time getting the wine out because there were so many people there! And people were having a blast. Lastly, we were impressed with how many locals come here to just hangout. We met one couple that bikes a few miles here from time to time and hangs out on the patio. In conclusion, we really enjoyed our visit! We enjoyed the tasting, the knowledge and the great space. I love Turtle Run!!! The owner, Jim, is so nice and knowledgeable about wine. They actually make really good dry red wine which most Indiana and Kentucky wineries do not. The Red Zin and the Syrah are my favorites. The best day to go is on Sundays for the free concerts from 1-5. The winery is in a beautiful setting with tons of space. You can bring your chairs and a picnic and enjoy a bottle of vino while listening to a live band. Tastings are free which is so nice. We tried 6 or 8 wines and ended up buying 6 bottles to take home. read more

I would give this a full 5 star, but I wasn't able to fully experience it. I was interested in doing a wine tasting, but when our small group of 4 arrived on a Saturday, they were in the middle of a tasting of large bus that was onsite. They were just super busy in the tasting room, so I settled for a glass of a sweet white. They have a wonderful patio to sit and sip on. There was a winery dog. He was outside hanging out with us and it was magical. I look forward to my next trip out here and the eventuality of completing a wine tasting and learning more about all that Turtle Run has to offer. read more

Cute little family-run winery about an hour west of Louisville. We popped in because we saw them on the "Attractions" sign off of Highway 64 driving from Cincinnati through Louisville and back to St. Louis. They have a cute outdoor space where you can bring your own food while enjoying their wine on the porch. They also do tastings in the wine making and barrel area. Their wines tend toward sweets but they do have a great variety. They also clearly mark which ones are made with their estate grapes or partial estate grapes. read more

We were in the area and decided to check some local wineries which brought us to Turtle Run. The winery is located in the middle of no where Indiana (the ones are) and it seems as if your pulling into someone's drive way (which you are). No worries thought the sometime turtles show you the way to the tasting room. When we arrived we found the room empty but a note and a phone on the counter told us the owners were out with the grapes and we just needed to give them a call. Jim and Laura Pfeiffer came along before we even had a chance to call and we began our tasting. Let me say that the wines were very good. But having a conversation with Jim about wines, tastebuds and flavor tendencies (of people not wines) was fantastic!! By far this was the best wine tasting experience I've had in a while. I highly recommend a visit. While you're there pick a bottle of the Forever More 2018, Escape My Mind 2018 and Red My Mind 2020...but only if your have a higher end tastebud count! :) read more

If you are ever in the Corydon area, be sure to make a stop at the Turtle Run Winery to sample and enjoy one of their delicious wines! This winery is located in a very quaint and scenic town and the owners are both knowledgeable and friendly. Jim takes the time to answer any questions you have about individual wines and the wine making process. One important aspect for us is the fact that there are no sugars or other juices added and these wines will not give you a headache like some commercial wines tend to do. Since we live far away, we can't get there as often as we'd like, but the weekends are great social gatherings where you can enjoy free live entertainment, wine and food that you can bring or purchase there (often food proceeds are donated to a local charity). Bring your own chairs or blanket, relax, listen to some great music, and enjoy your visit! read more

My wife and I went to Turtle Run for a wine appreciation dinner with my sister and her husband for a Valentine's Day double date. When we first walked in, I thought we were going to be disappointed, because the tables were in a small space amongst the barrels. I was very, very wrong. I'm not a "wine guy", but I go to lots of events like this with my wine-aholic family members, and this was without a doubt the best wine tasting event I've ever been to. Jim and Laura are wonderful hosts. Jim's knowledge of not just wine, but the chemistry and mechanisms by which we taste, made this incredibly informative.
