Fabulous brunch experience for the "Boojie's Back Porch Brunch with Highland Cows" on Sunday morning and recommend going as early as possible to have the best experience (timed slots are 9 AM to 2 PM, every 15 minutes reserved via Open Table app).
We chose the 9 AM slot and left around noon, and it was fairly packed by the time we left. We were appreciative of the calm and quiet atmosphere and only a handful of patrons when we first arrived and had a serene experience with visiting the cows. Such an educational and enjoyable experience. Their owner and handler was very kind and informative with answering everyone's questions and caring for Rory (red) and Finn (white), both gorgeous fuzzy and furry mini Highland cows.
When we first parked (free large lot) and entered the building, we were immediately greeted and informed about brunch items, cocktails, bourbon, restrooms, the cows, etc. Delightful!
The bar room at entry has comfortable lounge seating with leather sofas, cozy chairs, and seating along the stone hearth. A fire was blazing midway through our visit, which was terrific on the mild October day. The merchandise shelves are also in this room and hallways leading to the "Necessary Rooms" at either side of the bar. (Photos included with review of the unique decor.)
The adjoining dining room had large round wooden tables which easily seat 6 each. Beautiful bouquets of white flowers were placed on each table. The bourbon tasting barrels are also set off to the side in the room and staff are extremely helpful with making sure guest experience is pleasant.
We tried the hot brunch bar and the biscuits were fluffy and high volume, tater tots were some of the crispiest ever, and there was a wide array of fresh donuts from Jeff's Bakery available.
The cold brunch bar had creamy chicken salad, yogurt with an assortment of fruits and toppings as mix in items, as well as preserves and flavored butters to complement baguette slices. I want to also make note that I saw a nice display of Louisville Stoneware items being used on the brunch bars, which i appreciated these thoughtful touches in decor and style. We were impressed with the overall vibe of this space.
Finally, there was a Bloody Mary bar which had a nice selection of jumbo olives, pickles, cheeses, hot sauces, etc.
We were provided 3 drink tickets upon entry, which included a choice of cocktail or bourbon tastings. I tried one bourbon tasting and it was a warming and fiery nip. I also created 2 Bloody Mary cocktails during my 3+ hour visit and loved the smoky mix (also available for sale within the merchandise display next to the bar) and choice of a salty/sweet rim.
Cost was $65 and also included a souvenir shot glass, acrylic highball drink ware, and as much bovine cuteness as possible.
Great value for quality and quantity of food and drink and the unique entertainment experience. Would recommend and would do this again. read more
