I really enjoyed my time here! I got to hang one on one with the wine associate who just cracked me up. We had a grand ole time talking for around an hour as I had a cheese plate and then sampled some of their wines. I ended up taking 3 bottles home that I plan to enjoy on my beach vacation next week, and believe me when I say they were worth the purchase. Really great customer service and she seems to truly enjoy what she does for a living. They have a good variety of wines that suit any palette with a heavier emphasis on sweet and semi-sweet wines. They do have some dry wines if that is your preference. Parking is easy and plentiful. They do not host weddings at all. They are more of a place to go and hang out with friends then head home kind of establishment. I am not sure if they host events as I did not ask. I love this little winery up the hill! We always have fun here with friends and family enjoying wines and snacks that we brought in. Madonna and Karen did a great job waiting on us. They were very busy the day that we went! They have wine tastings but we just went ahead and bought a bottle of my favorite wine there, Sauvignon Blanc. Then we got the Dori Roe Red, which was also very good. We sat inside for awhile then moved to their outside patio where there are more tables and chairs. They have concerts there on Saturday nights during the summer. We'll be back! read more

We stopped here an hour before it closed. We were greeted by Michelle. She was lovely and provided us many details of the winery and surrounding areas. She provided us A+ service. The wines consist of a small part of the vineyard, areas of Kentucky and some grapes come from Finger Lakes region. The red wines all tasted the same to me. Nothing blew me away. My favorite was the Pinot Gris. It smelled like a traditional Pinot and had a bit of a dry taste but for the most part it was good. I did enjoy the Kentucky Tradition which is a sweeter wine but really good. We sampled and purchase some to go. We had limited time to get another stop in for the day. read more

Known as the "Little Winery up the hill" sits Brooks Hill Winery. Been wanting to come here for awhile so I decided to come on a warm summer day. So glad that I did. I did 5 tastings, all were sweet wines of course. Black and Blue and Lili's summer mango are one of my favorites from there that I tried. I also got to keep the tasting glass which was awesome. The one lady who did my tasting was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They do outdoor live music during the warmer weather, I recommend getting there in a reasonable time to get good parking. I had to park in the grass vs. gravel. I didn't stick around for that this time around. And there's another wine dog there named Annie, I didn't get to meet her but, maybe next time. Lili unfortunately passed away back in 2017. RIP Lili. I of course didn't leave without getting a bottle (or 2), I was told to have a great day and to come back and see them. When that's said to me, I always return to a business. I will definitely be back and maybe watch some outdoor music. Very wonderful people there. read more

This winery is awesome. I had been wanting to go to one around Louisville for a while now, and this one was calling our name after we saw a Groupon for $11 which includes 5 tastings, a souvenir glass and a cheese plate for two. I called to make the reservation for the same day, and they had just about any time open so that was pretty easy. This is a very small winery that looks like a cute little house, but I love it! The vineyards were right there next to the building, along with a big patio where they have live music and events. The women working in here were very sweet and seemed to know a lot about the wines that they serve. Alright, let's talk wine: all 5 that I tried were fantastic. They're all very smooth, and it was easy to taste the unique flavors that they each had. First was the Riesling, a semi-dry white. It was just a tad bit sweet but also a tad bit dry. The Rose of Sharon is a great choice for anyone into Rose'. The Cherry-Cranberry (My favorite) literally tastes like cranberry juice. The Black and Blue was very sweet with hints of blackberry and blueberry. And lastly, The Chocolate Razz is a super duper sweet dessert wine that tastes like tootsie rolls! We ended up buying a bottle of the Cherry-Cranberry because it was so good...they're very reasonably priced too. So when the Groupon said we get a cheese plate, I thought we'd probably get something smalll...nope, not at all!! This plate was packed with cheese, crackers, pita chips and hummus. We couldn't even finish it all,but they were nice enough to bag it up for us. So if you haven't gotten the idea yet from my review, you need to go to this winery. Five stars easily. I've been here a few times now and I must say, this is my favorite winery that I've visited in KY and it's certainly one of the best within a 100-150 mile radius of Louisville. While I love it, this is also a dangerous place for me. The wine is good. When the wine is good, I can drink on it all day. When visiting this winery, I need to stick to my default of a tasting and then ordering a glass to walk around the vineyards/sit outside. The place is cozy. The employees are friendly. The dry wines are delicious. They have events on occasion that draw more people than you'd think. Their vineyard is also set up to where you can walk around or sit outside enjoying a glass of wine. On a warm day, it's perfect. Bottles are a little more expensive here than other local wineries but they're nothing outrageous. Unless there's a new winery opening around the corner, I don't see any winery knocking this one out of the top spot locally. read more

Some times I absolutely love coming here and others, I'm just eh. This is more on me than the winery. This was the 3rd stop on a winery day and by the time we got here, I was kind of done. They have a good selection of wine and have expanded the space in recent years. Tastings run about $5 and you get to keep the glass. I always find something I like here. Sunday funday at the wineries! This was a beautiful one to get started at first. We arrived right when they opened at 1pm and started our tasting. Our guide was very knowledgeable (he mentioned that he helped make the wine) and friendly. The wines were pretty good, and you got to pick five wines for the $5 tasting with a tasting wine glass to take home. Our first and favorite wine that we tasted was the Dori Red. We found this great winery on our road trip traveling from TX to home in OH. We have been to wineries in 24 states including Napa Valley & Sonoma in Ca and the Fingerlakes in NY, so have a lot to compare to! Chris was so welcoming , the wine was so good, and the whole scene was just amazing. We stayed till they closed and met some really nice ladies. The owner was very nice and the view was beautiful! Found this little gem through their distributor while visiting Forest Edge. As an added bonus, they also had a Groupon for a wine tasting, glasses, and cheese/hummus plate. Definitely check out Groupon before visiting! We couldn't have asked for a better day to visit! The sky was blue and the temperature was perfect for sitting in the shade. They have a huge patio area to enjoy the cheese/hummus plate after you've completed your wine tasting. I recommend buying a bottle of wine to pair with the plate of goodies. They have at least 15+ wines to choose from. There is something that each person will enjoy. I liked the cab sav the most - it had a bold fruity taste with just a hint of sweetness. read more

I love this winery. Local ma and pa in the area. At first when I pulled up, I thought it was baptist church. When we stepped in, we were greeted with hospitality. The wine tastings are $5.00 for 5 tastings. My favorites were the Roe Hill Red and Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. But I ended up getting the Morning Sky which is the blend of Traminette and Vignoles White Wine. Which is excellent for the summers. The service was great and I didn't feel rushed. My friends and I originally came here because of a great Groupon that many people seem to have taken advantage of (tasting for 4 with 2 cheese plates) and I'll definitely continue to buy their wine. The staff was super accommodating. We didn't make a reservation because we totally forgot before going there and they were kind enough to squeeze us in!!! The highlights from the tasting for me were the old bullit red which has become a staple in my home, the black and blue, and the sweet Martyne. My partner who hates wine ending up loving a few and we ended up drinking a bottle while we enjoyed our cheese plate and then took 3 more home. During COVID 19 they are still doing curbside orders and you can also usually find their wine in liquor stores around town (I usually go to total wine and more) Once quarantine is over though, I urge you to go here for a tasting! read more

How have I not reviewed this place already? I love it here! It is only a 15-20 minute drive from Louisville and the grounds are just lovely. I have been to Brooks Hill on two other occasions with and went back this past weekend with a Groupon for a wine tasting for 2 and cheese/hummus plate. The building in which the tasting are held is adorable. The owners and staff are super sweet and Lilly, the dog, is the best mascot ever. We tasted 5 wines each and really enjoyed them all. They have a nice variety of dry and sweet. We ended up buying 3 bottles- 2 to take home and 1 to enjoy there with our cheese. The outdoor patio area is so relaxing and walking through the vineyard to peaceful. They have live music on the weekends starting at 6 on Saturday. Highly recommend checking it out! read more

Instead of Derby Day activities, my friends and I go wine tasting in the area. Brooks Hill was our first stop for the day. It is an adorable little winery, surrounded by a mini vineyard. Lili, the winery dog, is on hand to keep an eye on things. One of the gentlemen working was a little surly with us and insisted that people usually make a reservation for a tasting. We had a substantial group (around 13) in for a tasting. I would have given them a heads up, but until the night before, I thought our group was still around 7 or 8. Either way, a busy tasting is in your favor, money-wise. The other workers handling the tasting (2 more, besides the cranky guy) were friendly and seemed to have a good time. We were able to all taste different wines at the same time and have fun and interact with each other and the employees. It was a pretty decent start to our wine drinkin' day...aside from the one guy. I bought 2 bottles of wine here: Lili's White (sweet white table wine) and the Chocolate Razz (dessert wine). They have a summertime concert series on their cute patio. Certainly worth checking out! BE AWARE: regarding their groupon for tastings for X number of people with a cheese plate: THIS REQUIRES A RESERVATION. This information is in the teeny-tiny small print on the groupon. One of my local favorite wineries to visit, known as "the little winery up the hill". It is approximately 20 minutes South of Louisville. We purchased a Groupon to this winery the first time my husband and I came here. Just far enough off the beaten path, with a nice size patio, so you can sit inside or outside. They have music on the patio during the summer months. I am not a dry wine drinker, that being said, they have a big variety of different wines to choose from. Their Kentucky Tradition is the wine that made me realize how much I like bourbon barrel red wines! Absolutely delicious! Of course, the whites that I enjoy there are many! Some of my other favorites here are Lili's White, Blackberry & Blueberry, and Chocolate Razz. If you choose to add a cheese tray, it is one of the nicest trays we have received at any winery so far. A variety of crackers, different cheeses, and hummus. Paired so nicely with any of the wines. The staff is very knowledgeable on each wine, and very attentive to each customer. Every time we visit, it is like a new experience.
