Barrels + thieving area

We came to the KAD Clubhouse that's just down the way from the Distillery. We did the barrel thieving/tasting experience and had a blast. There was a group here on a bachelor trip as well. It was a great place to hangout and sip on some bourbons. The woman that worked there was so professional and kind and knowledgeable on the bourbons.

This is a small and young distillery off the beaten path. The tour is not too long - their distillery is located in an old ice cream distribution warehouse. The distillery is not big and we were there when they weren't distilling so it was very quiet. The tour guides are mostly retired enthusiasts who are very personable. The bourbon offerings are not high proof but they do have one unique product offering and that's a bourbon that is aged in Kentucky for 3 years and sent on a ship for another 8-9 months (still in its barrel). It passes the equator 4 times. We tried 2 different sailings and the 32 barrel pick was excellent. Nice tour to add to any Bourbon Trail experience and loved the novel product.

We had a great experience at KAD. We are big fans of Jefferson's and enjoyed our tour and our guide, Bob, was informative and likable. We've been to several tours and this one really stood out. We recommend this distillery to anyone! There is a tasting 'clubhouse' down the road which has a cool vibe and friendly staff.

This is a very nice small local distillery. It was my first time to visit and I went looking for some Christmas gifts for family. They have a complete stock of all their varieties of Bourbons. I had heard about the select Oceans bourbon and decided to make it my choice for gifts. It has one of the most unique stories of how it's aged (at Sea) than any other bourbon I've heard of. My family is going to love it.

We've been touring distilleries through KY...this tour was exceptional, intimate, and highlited the unique contributions KAD makes to the industry. Once Jefferson leaves wondering what the next big thing will be!

Didn't get to take the tour but they have one of my favorite bourbons. I just had to come here as a rushed to the airport. The most friendly people, great products. The place is in somewhat of a industrial area in the middle of nowhere and of course I'm not from here so I really don't know. I'm glad I came. I would have like to do the tasting or tour. I might be work

The tour was very well done! The history behind Jefferson's Bourbon especially the unique Ocean Aged At Sea Bourbon is so interesting! The bourbons were all delicious.

Very neat experience! The entrance is unique. We enjoyed learning about the voyage the jefferson ocean takes.

Bottling area-we went on a Saturday so we did not see it in action.

Excellent tour and tasting. First distillery we had ever visited. Great introduction, and it was a bonus the Reserve was our bourbon of choice prior to visiting. Ocean is now the go to!

This is a picture of Hugh at Jefferson's Reserve Tour, a total Rock Star!!!

Tour was short and sweet, but gave a lot of info! We were in and out in a hour. Tom was our tour guide and he was great! There was a bourbon tasting at the end. Though I didn't partake, I heard the bourbon was good and strong. The tour price is cheaper than other distilleries because it's not in the heart of downtown.

This is a very small distillery, but it has a quaint, cozy little tasting room. Our guide was entertaining and informative. He was able to answer every question thrown at him. His knowledge and experience was helpful. They gave you quite a bit more to taste than many distilleries. I enjoyed seeing and tasting Jefferson's, the primary brand they produce. The downside is that they do not serve the alcohol they produce on site. Also, there's no food. So it's more of an educational experience than a social one.

I was very thankful that they were able to accommodate our large group (16)! I booked two separate back to back reservations to make sure they had space but thankfully they offered to do us all together. Price, our guide, was phenomenal! We learned so much, he answered our questions as they came up and didn't rush us out. We loved seeing the hand-bottling and process start to finish. Definitely check this one out!

Steve, did a great job talking us through the history of Jefferson's bourbon while we sat on a nice, cool porch.

Only just becoming a legal distillery in 2015, it is located in Sparta, Kentucky, and was founded by Royce Neeley, an 11th-generation distiller. Our tour began with a video of Royce telling the story of his family and their history of moonshining and bootlegging. The video was very entertaining and set the stage nicely for the tour. This small distillery has won numerous awards over the past 6 years or so and continues to produce award-winning whiskey. They also have a highly regarded Absinthe. After a short but very informative tour of the distillery, we settled in to taste. We were given a menu of all their products and told we could select 8 to taste. I selected the Wheated Bourbon, Rye Bourbon, Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, 5-year wheated small batch bourbon, Paw Paw's Bottled in Bond Bourbon, Neeley's Brandy Barrel finished, New Toasted French Oak, and French Sauternes Bourbons. All were tasty, and my favorite was the New Toasted French Oak Bourbon. The tasting samples were small, so I took very small sips of each and then was able to go back and forth to compare them, which was nice to be able to do. Their products are not inexpensive, but the quality is high. I would recommend this tasting experience and highly recommend the New Toasted French Oak Bourbon.

We love that they walk you through all the ingredients and even give you recipe cards so you can try to make it at home. Somehow it's never quite the same when we make it ourselves, which is exactly why we keep coming back to enjoy it firsthand. We've also done the tour multiple times, and it's always a great experience--very informative and well done. The tastings along the way are a lot of fun and just add to the overall experience. Great drinks, great staff, and always worth the stop.

When people think of whiskey in Indiana's Brown County, they might think of that other place. (You…read moreknow the one.) But there is another distillery quietly making small-batch, high-quality spirits in Nashville, and that's Bear Wallow Distillery. Located just outside of downtown Nashville, Bear Wallow Distillery is one of the only female-owned distilleries in the country. They create their spirits in a traditional copper pot still, which I learned is unique. Inside the tasting room, you can enjoy a whiskey tasting or a flight, or sip a craft cocktail and relax in the shop. I chose to enjoy a "Call Me Old Fashioned" standing up at the bar, while chatting with the guy who made me my drink. My Old Fashioned was well balanced, not too sweet and made me feel all warm inside, as a good Old Fashioned should. Those who are interested in learning more about the whiskey-making craft can go on a Farm-to-Fifth Tour, which takes you behind the scenes to learn about the history of whiskey and see the full production process. I did, and I found it very informative! I had a new appreciation for the kind of whiskey and spirits they are making here at Bear Wallow Distillery. From the ingredients they choose to the barrels they use, they really put their foot in it, as they say. If you like whiskey, or just like to try local spirits, this is a good place to visit in Nashville.

We chose the Willett Distillery because of it's location being close to where we were staying and the availability of tours. We timed it with lunch at The Bar at Willett and were so glad we did, the food was amazing. Our tour guide was a very knowledgeable and friendly young gal, the only issue was she seemed to be in a hurry. I understand timelines and we can't stay out there forever but there's got to be a better way to stay on track than checking your watch every 5 minutes! Her energy and enthusiasm sprinkled with a good sense of humor definitely added a nice touch to the otherwise generic tour. Thank goodness for one of the testers, he let us dip our fingers in the mash ton, something we learned to do on several other tours we've taken. It's a nice "odd" thing to offer, making for a more unique tour. The whiskey is good and the tastings are average pours with the price being average for a full tour. We enjoyed our time at Willett and would definitely visit again for the restaurant!
