If you're in the area Monkey Hollow needs to be one of your stops. It's a lovely winery and distillery in a beautiful location. We were lucky and had the winery to ourselves. The staff couldn't have been more helpful considering there were 6 of us. There are so many wines to choose from and several liqueurs as well. The coffee liqueur is awesome. There is outside seating so if possible sit out and enjoy the lake and grounds. read more

Fabulous!!! We tasted several wines as well as the limoncello, the Blackberry was our absolute favorite! Superb service all the way around. We enjoyed their charcuterie jar & crackers & the contents complemented the glass of Blackberry very well! Nice quiet atmosphere inside since it was still a bit chilly. read more

These poor workers practically had us banging the door down to get in on a hot July at 11am! We were offered a tasting, and while I did love the sweeter wines you offered, it was the limoncello that stole my heart. How on earth did I live to my tile old age and not know how delicious this beverage could be? What rock have I been living under? Totally enjoyed my limoncello slush on the patio, listening to the birds, eating Tell City pretzels and just enjoying my tour of Indiana and Kentucky. I'll be back, even though it's 5 hours by car. read more

Awesome wines!!! Something for every palette! Love the ol'grandad, reminded me of a port wine. I normally hate white, but I tried the combined dry white, and it was pretty good, bought a bottle even. If your military you get a discount or if you buy 5 bottles as well. Highly RECOMMEND. They have live music on Saturdays in June July and August , with ribeye sandwiches to snack on. If your not into wine, they also have moonshine, gin and vodka to sample for $1 each or free of you buy a bottle. Wine tasting is free with 6 samples:) read more

Monkey Hollow - Wines - Wineries Near Me - Saint Meinrad, Indiana

Monkeys, wine, seclusion.. three things that make a great destination worthy of visiting. Monkey Hollow is on my list as one of the top 10 wineries in Indiana. Named by the owners because they claim ariel views resemble a monkey, I have to admit I don't see it. I've looked on maps, tilted my head, and even closed an eye, but I still don't see it. That doesn't mean they don't produce good wines though. Somewhat on the sweet side, the wines make a great addition to my collection of Indiana wines. When I visited this past Saturday, there was a band playing on the patio. I could have spent the afternoon with a bottle in the shade overlooking the lake and the vineyard, and plan on doing just that one day soon! read more

Over a few curvy roads and a left at the cow, you'll find the Monkey Hollow winery. We visited on a late Sunday afternoon so shared the tasting room with just one other couple. Chrissy...a fun, sweet lady...served us the six free samples of wine along with some moonshine, lemoncello and Red Monkey Pop. The wine and shine were both good...I left with several bottles. read more

Scenery was beautiful, customer service was seriously lacking. Nice lady, just needs to learn how to service more than 1 customer at a time. Never got how can I help you, just had to interrupt and say can I have a tasting! read more

Nice play to stop off of 64. (I think it's about 10 minutes off of the highway, so stopping will add 20 minutes total to your drive.) We had our dog with us, so we were on the patio which has a nice ambiance. Lots of tables too! Leashed dogs are welcome on the patio but not inside. The bartender nicely poured all of our wine tastings (5/person complimentary) into tasting cups and put them on a tray to allow us to still do the tasting outside. I liked their dry white blend (not too dry) best and enjoyed a glass ($7) after the tasting. The Winter Warmer was very interesting - good spice flavor. I might have left with a bottle if I was in more of a winter mindset but the 80 degree weather still has me firmly in summer! They have some snacks inside - chips, crackers, meat, cheese, and Tell City Pretzels - to accompany your wine. They also have some cocktail options for those who aren't wine drinkers. read more

Beautiful location and extremely friendly service. Though I am not a fan of sweet wines, the selections were interesting and varied. The fruit flavors were vivid and not too sweet. The proprietors clearly care about their customers and their product. They are obviously having a good time and making an effort to ensure that everyone else does too. Worth the short drive off the highway! read more

We have always passed a sign for this winery on our way to Holiday World. We had some extra time today, so decided to check it out. It's probably about 15 minutes from I-64 - off the beaten path. We were planning to send one adult in, and the others wait in the car (since we had the kids with us). But surprisingly, the store allows kids and there is a roped off area around the bat for 21-and-up. So that was an awesome surprise. They had juice boxes and little bags of chips we could buy for the kids - and they sat at the little table in the corner. We got to taste 6 wines - and were surprised how good they were. We liked the Combined White (dry blend). Bought a few bottles, some local cheese and sausage, and a Monkey Hollow cork screw. They have a gorgeous patio overlooking the picturesque grounds - but we didn't stay long (we felt lucky to taste 6 wines with kids in tow) read more

This winery was beautiful and had some quality wine. Plus the story of how his place got its name is pretty cool. The monkey hollow is called the monkey hollow because from and Ariel viewpoint the water way running through the the hollow resembled a monkeys tail and the land around it resembled the body of a monkey. The wine was very tasty and there were a full page of options to choose from. The tasting was free but the cost of the wine bottles made up for that. The cheapest bottle of wine they had was $12 and the majority of the other wine cost around $20 or more. The view from outside on the patio is amazing, there is a lake and a very nice set up of chairs and tables overlooking the pond and all of the farm land surrounding this beautiful winery! read more

We were passing through the area and were looking for somewhere to sit outside on a patio and drink wine...this was the PERFECT place! The people who worked there that were pouring the wine were nice and informative. They had great suggestions and we enjoyed everything we tried. We ended up buying two bottles and getting two glasses to sip on the patio. The patio is nice (it was a gorgeous day) and it was nice to sit at the tables and look out over the lake. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would love to come back in the fall! read more

Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with my wife and parents. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were treated to an accordion player on the patio. Wine was excellent as was the locally made cheese we purchased. The staff proved us with glasses, a cutting board and knife. It was a great experience! read more

We Didn't get to sit down and enjoy because it was pretty cold and we were just passing through but we did a tasting and all of their wines are awesome! I like semi dry/sweet wines but even their dry wines were good. Definately a good stop. read more

I went here in May, so glad I visited. Great wines, friendly staff, and the view outside is beautiful! It felt so secluded, you could hear birds chirping, look at the lake and hills - it was so beautiful. They have some great wines, especially if you like sweeter wines. I didn't eat here, wish I did. I'd go back - definitely recommend! read more
