A Caribbean restaurant in York? Feels a little odd, but it's definitely worth a try if you enjoy the cuisine.
By York standards, the restaurant is pretty large. It's painted turquoise and has string lights inside, so it's pretty hard to miss. The tiki style bar is at the entrance of the restaurant, with seating behind and to the side.
They do 2 for 1 from 4 pm to 7 pm and 10 pm to close. Apparently the place gets pretty busy after 10 pm as a result. But before 7 we had no issues. One thing to note is both cocktails need to be the same, which can be a drag if you're sharing with a friend... While my friends enjoyed the cocktails, I found them to be a bit too sweet. Glancing over the cocktail list, I didn't see any options for a person who likes less sugar in their drinks.
Food wise, I tried the pork cheek curry, which was pretty yummy and filling! The roti that accompanied it was more like naan in my opinion, but it didn't detract from the overall flavors. It was a good amount of spices, which was my major concern when I ordered it.
My friends got the fish curry and pulled pork bun. They both enjoyed it and also thought their dishes were flavored well. Overall a good place to check out when you get tired of typical cuisine or want to expand your horizons! read more
