I know this business is marked as closed but it is not exactly - Amanda now has a treatment room in her home in Port Washington. You can call to make an appointment. I have been to the home treatment room 2x and also sent my husband and sister. She really knows what she is doing! Her massage never feels painful but she releases all the knots. It isn't the cookie cutter massage you get from others, when they spend the same amount of time on each body part. Amanda spent time discussing any issues and she concentrated more on the areas that needed it. Amanda is hands down the best. As an athlete herself she has a deep understanding of what my body needs. I see her every 2 weeks or so for maintenance. I have been coming for maybe a year. If you want a massage where your therapist not only listens to what your needs are but also has an intuitive feel, go to Amanda. My pet peeve is going to a massage, the therapist asking me where id like to be worked on and then spending NO extra time in those areas. Anyway, Amanda knew exactly where i was in pain and she focused on getting those knots out and releasing tension in those areas. It was so nice to finally walk out of a massage and be pain free(Ive walked out of massages thinking how i need another massage lol). I've gone to Amanda 3 times now. I told her that i liked strength, and boy was she strong! I also want to mention that she has an amazing holistic approach to everything. I have been a client since Amanda was in LIC. Amanda is an intuitive therapist and curated every treatment based on what I asked for and what she knew I needed. As a massage therapist myself, I am very selective about who I go to see. Amanda is an amazing therapist and one thing that I also enjoyed about her that I know very few therapists offer is the bar therapy (ashiatsu). Let me start off by telling you that Amanda is a wonderful person. And only if your heart is in the right place can you do something as special and amazing as a good, effective massage. I went in her office tired, stressed, annoyed and unwell. I found Amanda welcoming and charming, and from the moment she shook my hand and welcomed me, I began feeling relaxed. Then she began working on my very troublesome back, and boy! It was bliss. Amanda is intuitive about where to apply pressure -- I am greatly impressed with her skill and technique and lovely personality. Like finding a good doctor, dentist or vet, it takes trying out several before you find one you find one you like. Unfortunately, this place turned out to be a dud. I went to Amanda a couple of times and I'd rate her massage an 8/10 so it's good. The Ashiatsu foot massage was a first for me and it felt really nice. The problem is not her massage but her attitude. Amanda is all-business, tends to be abrupt and quick-tempered. Most massage therapists have a friendly, easy-going demeanor; not Amanda. She exudes no warmth whatsoever. I received a hint of her temper during my initial call whereby she became quickly annoyed when asked about her knowledge and background. Maybe she expects people to book, no questions asked. My shoulders were tight and I wanted a session asap so I let it pass. She also asked for my credit card # to charge me in case I don't show up, she could charge me for the session. I told her I never miss app'ts so didn't give her the info which she acquiesced. She's the only person, in 20 years, out of a couple of dozen massage therapists, chiropractors, doctors...etc who has ever asked for my credit card info upfront. It's as if she expects one to miss their app't. I'm sure it happens but that policy is stated after the initial visit. On my first visit, I showed up 15 minutes early and instead of a friendly greeting, I was quickly admonished with, "you're early" and despite me telling her that's what her website policy states (see below), she repeats, "you're still early." Again, bad attitude. The 2nd app't, as I was on my back, I let her know that she was using too much pressure on my neck and I caught her looking away with an annoyed, "oh brother" look. Who does that? Completely unacceptable, very unprofessional and offensive; very indicative of her true cold, uncaring personality (you can get a lot of insight into another person's true personality when they don't think they are being observed.) Yes, I told her I like a lot of pressure but I have my limits. Sympathy not annoyance should have been the proper response. Her rates are high esp. for someone with 4 years experience. $140 for 90 minute. For comparison, my former massage therapist in Soho with 24 years experience before she retired, charged $110 for a 75 minute massage. Also, Amanda is not very responsive when it comes to emails. After my first app't, she said should would email me a receipt. About a week goes by and nothing so I emailed asking for an update. I hear nothing until 4 weeks later, I had my friend email her asking for an app't. She responds to him the very next morning. It was only after he tells her of a bad review on email tardiness, do I magically get a response to my email apologizing that she's been busy with other things...uh huh. My take is that she's very money-driven vs. client-driven. Your well-being is secondary. So, why bother with someone so unprofessional when there are many other licensed massage therapists out there who are genuinely warm, caring, friendly, more flexible in their policies with better rates and attitudes, who will overall treat you much better. Amanda possesses none of these traits. I'm sure she can be friendly but don't be fooled, she has another side to her....a bitchy one. Amanda is AMAZING! She is so knowledgeable about her craft that I really trust her to do whatever she thinks she needs to do given the state of my body at an appointment. She can go the relaxing route, the invigorating root, and the deep tissue, fixing actual muscular problems route. The best part is that she really cares for her clients and tries to understand how they're feeling when they come in - not just physically, but emotionally.
