Turning point never disappoints! We went for a Friday lunch last week and called in ahead for a table (loved that they let us do that) so we only had to wait ~15min once we got there. The outdoor patio is really lovely and there's usually a pretty long line! They were wiping down the tables and chairs after every party and provided plastic menus and packaged utensils. I got the triple stacked grilled and was in LOVE -- the bacon was absolutely on point. We also got the pancake sampler for the table, which I highly recommend! It was so fun to try three different pancake varieties (Cinnamon Roll, Lemon Blueberry, and Strawberry Nutella) and it's so worth it at 6 pancakes for $10. We came here at 8:45 am and got our order in immediately - they told us the wait for the food might be 20-30 mins. We ordered two bagels with cream cheese and a Wilbur skillet. We waited for 20 mins and asked them if the food was ready yet, and they said they were making it now. Then another 10 minutes past, we asked them again and they were still "making it". Then another 10 minutes past, they were packing it now. Then another 4 minutes past, they only have my Wilbur skillet and the bagels with cream cheese weren't ready yet - does that make any sense? The bagels that you can toast it for 1 minute is not ready yet but the Wilbur skillet, one of the restaurant's specialty, is already ready. The bagels was ready a few minutes later - this was about one hour after the order was in. Just to be fair, other people also had the same problem so it wasn't just us. Anyway, the Wilbur skillet was not hot or even warm while the bagel is warmed and toasted. Overall we didn't like the experience one bit. read more

Right of the bat, this 4 stars is generous. Maybe I'm in a good mood today, or maybe long branch barely has any other breakfast choices so turning point gets automatic points for existing. This is the type of place that really depends on what you order. Some dishes are great, others average, others quite bad. Their spectrum is big on quality. I always go with one of the skillet, which they do very well. I would avoid omelets as they throw in veggies raw, which isn't pleasant. Benedict's aren't bad and as for waffles/pancakes/French toast, I haven't tried one, but some of them actually look very good. Overall turning point is probably more of a 3.5 Star place, but their outdoor seating and friendly staff make them a little better. Long Branch beach is one of my favorite NJ beaches for an early morning sunrises, and partially due to some phenomenal restaurants and cafes off the boardwalk. I've never visited the Turning Point but have been wanting to try it for a long time. My friend and I visited the restaurant after a beautiful sunrise and luckily got a table without any wait time. To get some energy, we ordered two cold brew iced coffees. Uniquely, the coffee is served in a tall jar with an empty cup with a jumbo coffee ice cube. The coffee was bold and smooth, and adding the cold milk made it even more nutty. I ordered the power trip omelet, while my friend ordered the above and beyond sandwich. I was blown away by the omelet and how delicious the vegan egg tasted. The omelet is made from JUST eggs omelet and it was stuffed with Beyond breakfast sausage, fresh avocado slices, black beans, green & red bell peppers, onions, vegan cheese & cilantro. On the side, it is served with salsa and morning potatoes. The JUST eggs tasted exactly like chicken eggs and the toppings made it even better! I loved the meat-like texture from the Beyond breakfast sausage. The homemade potatoes were crispy and seasoned with garlic and chili powder. I requested hot sauce on the side and it was the best idea. My friend's breakfast sandwich was superb as well. However, she substituted the beyond breakfast sausage with JUST egg omelet. The ciabatta roll was perfectly toasted and the balsamic glaze made the sandwich taste 10x better! But, the customer service was terrible and it felt like we were being rushed out. The waitress lacked energy and enthusiasm, was not knowledgeable about the menu items, and prolonged simple requests. Top notch brunch in a gorgeous setting right near the water, what more can you want? The area can get crowded so go early......no later than 11 AM should do it. Although a wait is a nuisance, it's a tell tale sign a place is good when people are opining for seats for a half hour on average. A mix of fresh fruit that had lots of mango and strawberries swimming in what I think was simple syrup and pieces of pita covered in cinnamon sugar, TO DIE FOR! Strangely, a majority of us were out of towners so we HAD to try the lobster eggs benedict (picture also up). Although another in my party complained the english muffin was a bit over-toasted, mine was perfect. It was an ample amount of food after all was said and done and the prices on everything were reasonable. Kinda surprised they don't serve booze for breakfast, I likely just don't understand the liquor laws in NJ. Portion sizes are good and reasonably priced. Pier Village is very nice in general with cute shops and the beach. They also have Playa Bowls next door. The parking at Pier Village was $2 an hour.
