I had been trying to make an appt. for 2 months, the office always said they would call back but never did. I had a referral for a consultation, but they never were able to set an appointment. Several of my calls were answered by AI, or outsourced to who-knows-where. When I was finally able to set up an appointment after 2 months, they informed me they did not do consultations! Which means, all the calls and time had been a complete waste! They knew it was for a consultation but failed to mention they could not do one. Friendly and helpful staff. I had a bunch of issues with my insurance and they were willing to help me out. I came here first while taking my sons out to someone else but after my first few visits here I decided to bring my kiddos here as well. The medical staff is friendly... the dentist is a little dry but that's okay I supposed they can't ALL be super friendly. Plenty of parking and close to local stores in case you want to wonder around or do some shopping. The chairs in the lobby aren't so comfy so I decided to wait in my car and have my son text me when done. So far so good, hopefully I don't have to change dentists for a while. read more

I asked them to get pre-approval for all proposed procedures from both my dental insurers. They provided me with an estimate for payment by insurance and payment by me and payment from the insurers. My portion was to be $2, 311.00, of which I have paid $1,007.00 leaving a balance of $1,304.00. They have now sent this information to a collection agency saying I owe, $4,454.00. On the first day in their office, I was there for over 8 hours, and I finally left. The second time there was 6 hours. The Dentist performed a root canal and inserted a bridge in November 2022. My gum still has not healed. It has been 4 months. The Dentist kept drilling numerous times andr implied that it was somehow my fault because the numbing did not help. I spoke with the general manager as to why I had not received a call back on the amount of my out of pocket would be, I told him I needed to plan accordingly for pocas le out of pocket amount what my insurance would pay and my responsibility would be especially if I was going to need anesthesia.! The manager was rude talking me like a child trying to scold me that they work on the patients insurance and responsibility a week before the procedure. I was told I was going to get a call from the person that does the insurance verification and I never did it's been more than a few weeks. The rudeness of him hanging up on me is very unprofessional and I do not recommend going to this office at all if this is how they treat the patients that help pay their salary then why should I go and grieve them my monies..! They tell you something then they don't come thru. Dr. Knutson was good and took the time to try and explain procedures in layman's terms right before I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. Doctors at this office, however, don't stay long. So this review is more a reflection of the office than any individual dentist that practices there. Staff in general are kind, however, experience with billing and the office manager, Cheyenne was deplorable. I have wasted hours upon hours going back and forth between insurance reps and Cheyenne simply because Cheyenne would not call to try and clarify with my secondary insurer why they claimed patient responsibility was $0. I had to get the reps to call her in the end when I saw that trying to play the middle man was futile. In good faith, I was scheduled to make payments on worst-case scenario estimates and I made those payments consistently. But I called when I realized the office DID NOT adjust the payments after the procedure was completed. Instead, somehow, the balance was the same regardless of a change in procedures. This was a major red flag and it was all downhill from there. Cheyenne refused to acknowledge the EoB of the secondary insurance. Apparently the magic word was that my insurances had a "standard" or a "traditional" coordination of benefits clause. She conveniently assumed my insurance had a "non-duplication" CoB clause. A simple call to the insurance office would have clarified their EoB. She believed the error was on their end yet refused to follow up. I had to have the insurance call her to clarify. TLDR; If you have dual coverage and don't 100% understand Coordination of Benefits, don't expect this office to act in good faith and follow up. They will not lift a finger and expect you to do their billing for them. I would strongly suggest avoiding Turlock Smiles if you have dual coverage. read more

So I went in for originally a teeth cleaning that ended up being two root canals (a root canal and an inlay), a teeth cleaning and a laser treatment that was used on my gums to fight off any infection after getting X-Rays done. The treatment was almost $4000. Luckily my work insurance covered more then half with my dental insurance and I had to pay almost $1800 out of pocket. Fast forward. The staff was very friendly. I saw Dr.Patel for my treatment. The teeth cleaning and laser treatment for my gums went well and was thankful. The total process including root canals and my cap in the mean time was about 9 hrs waiting and with the work completed. Now where my 3 stars come in. My upper root canal was done fast and was almost completely pain free. I did have to come back a couple days after the root canal was done because it needed to be fined down/scraped down by a fraction of a hair because I wasn't able to eat without some discomfort. Now for my lower tooth root canal/ inlay. I ALSO had to come back to the dentist because AFTER Receiving treatment, my inlay tooth now was hurting every time I bit down on something as simple as a chip. I want to make it clear, before stepping foot into their dental office neither one of my root canal tooth's ever was in any shape or form of pain. So it was very upsetting to be back in the dentist a total of 5 times in 1 month trying to fix the pain that my lower tooth now had. Dr. Patel was very sweet and did honestly seem like she cared every time I came back in for the same tooth she worked on that was still hurting, eventually she even replaced and redid my inlay completely, she said she didn't know why it was still hurting once I bit down on foods. She showed me the X-Rays and said it hadn't hit any of my nerve. But it didn't away from the fact that after getting treatment my tooth was now in pain. (The pain feels like it's in the core of my tooth/my nerve) Fast forward to over a month now since my procesures and multiple visits for those teeth that were done. *Teeth Cleaning and gum laser treatment: satisfied * Top tooth root canal: happy AFTER Dr.Patel, smoothed it out and I was able to close my mouth/eat again.there is no discomfort and I can't even tell it was worked on. :) *lower tooth/lower inlay: sadly unsatisfied & still unable to eat from it. That is the only reason I'm rating 3 stars. My tooth NEVER hurt before walking in there, And after Patel even redid it, something happened during the processes and my tooth is still in pain when I eat, and that never happened before I walked in there. I still have a $1700 bill left and am making payments but honestly I think the only solution left is to pay it off and ask for maybe a complete root canal and have that lower tooth's nerve completely removed and get a cap like I got done on my upper tooth. I will say this. Even with the cons that my current tooth still is still in after receiving treatment, the staff was friendly and polite. Dr.Patel did come off as caring every time and like she wanted to fix the problem which I'm thankful for. I'll look into seeing my next options for this tooth but hopefully it will be corrected and I can carry on my life. If this lower tooth had been fixed like they corrected my upper root canal, this office I would've given them a 5 star review. They did get me in their right away when I called about being in pain after the work was done. I don't know where to go from here but I wanted to leave this review. Hopefully if it ever gets fixed by them I'll be able to come back and give them the 5 stars that I know they could've received. They have my contact info so if there's any other things they can do for my tooth they worked on that I'm still not able to eat on I would appreciate it. At this moment I'm at a loss. read more

Well I spent 8 1/2 hrs there. To get a root canal filling and a cleaning and a crown. They lady who cleaned my teeth was amazing and kind. She did a good job but the dentist . I felt like he was getting on edge. He started getting very shaky. And very aggressive with my mouth. He kept drilling numerous of times after I told him I could fill my face. At the end he finally half ass numbed me but started drilling before I went numb. Iv never been in this much pain from a dentist. Iv hade other root canals but this one is the most painful. I have major dental anxiety and every time I go to the dentist, the littlest thing can make me melt down. My insurance changed recently and so my payments were going to be a lot higher than I expected, and for whatever reason, I felt so overwhelmed by this in combination with my dental anxiety that I was not kind. In response, the staff and doctor at Turlock Smiles listened to me, explained the procedures to me, and were very patient and kind in waiting for me to pull myself together. They went above and beyond to keep me as a patient even though it may have been easier for them to tell me to try another office. In addition, I can tell the work they did was excellent. I had been going to this dental offfice for several years ,Xrayed numerous times. I was never told in all this time that I had 2 cavities. One of the cavities I could see and when I inquired about filling it I was told it was "just a spot". I recently changed dentists because I was not satisfied with their care. The new dentist informed me the two cavities were beyond repair and must be extracted . This will cause me extreme stress and I am now in pain. I will not be able to chew food properly. Stay away from this practice. They allowed a tech named Paul to place a temp crown in my wife. He was brutal. As both the dentist and I watched it seemed like he was intentionally inflicting pain. Finally the dentist intervened. The reason for the brutality? Prior to the procedure Paul said, within my earshot, that he was angry the procedure was interfering with his lunch. ***Update**** I had a routine cleaning and exam schedule for tomorrow and received 4 reminder calls...because I work a split shift with special needs children it was hard for me to get the call. I was told on the 4th call if I didn't respond to the reminder call my appt could be cancelled...I called back and when I inquired how long my appt would take she told me from 11:15 to 1:15!! I explained I can't because of my split shift I have to be back to work. She said she'd place me on a waiting list for a Sat appt. just heads up great place but you'd better respond to their reminder calls and a simple cleaning and month exam takes 2 hours. Came in last week with an emergency infected tooth and my dentist Dr Patel got me right in. She knew I was leaving on an our of state vacation, so prescribed antibiotics for my tooth and scheduled a follow up for a week later to include my six month cleaning and exam all at once. When I came in today I had a different dental hygienist than usual...Diane T, she seemed very rough and aggressive with my cleaning especially my gum area. At one point water splashed up on my face and she immediately said "that was you not me." It honestly didn't bother me about the water, it happens, but her attitude did. Dr. Patel came in for my exam and fluoride and boy was I relieved. Dr Patel makes all the difference and will keep me coming back for my check ups and the reason for 5 stars. I have been going here since I started college at Stan in 2015. Originally, they had good dentists working here. Now however, they blatantly ignore services that are paid for, do not listen to their patients, and have sub par, if not worse than, dentists and customer service. I had a procedure started a few months ago; paid for gas because I don't numb well and have extreme anxiety. It wasn't used, wasn't even mentioned. The procedure could be felt thru most of the root canal and it wasn't finished. Dentist sealed it up to finish later. Meanwhile the day before my appt, they call and say it's too difficult if a job (this is two months later and just today actually!) my appt would've been tomorrow to finish the work I ALREADY PAID FOR. My entire proc sure was paid in full, but the lack of expertise, experience, or ability at this particular place is very apparent in how this entire procedure was handled. Used to be such a good place; now it's a garbage business just like Western Dental. I will definitely be taking business elsewhere and my friends and family in the area will also ensure they are taking business elsewhere. Still waiting for a full refund for the entire procedure that I now left to try and find someone to finish. I was told by their "office manager" he would issue a full refund. I had my first visit with Dr. Prakash. Not only was he clear on his explanation, but he took the time to make sure that I thoroughly understood everything. He was kind and gentle. Given the severe pain that I was in he made the procedure as pain free as possible. Paul who helped with the procedure was friendly and very knowledgeable. The office staff was just as helpful and friendly. Sergio made sure I understood what my insurance would cover and what I was responsible for. He also took the time to setup an appointment at another office for an additional procedure. As if I was not impressed enough, Dr. Prakash called me this evening to see how I was doing. If I had one word to describe this office I would use :"disorganized". I have a numb mouth, spent half a day of PTO and 3 hours in the dentists' office with nothing to show. A little context - I had previously chipped my tooth and was able to get it temporarily fixed in San Jose without an issue. The temporary composite broke off this weekend so I came into the office to get my chip tooth restored. I had x rays and photos taken, and was told I would need a root canal (which I expected per my visit to the dentist in san jose), and sorted out all necessary signatures and insurance documents. 3 hours later, the operating table is set up, my mouth is numb with 3 shots of anesthetic, and Dr.Patel tells me that this insurance does not cover the operation due to this being a "cosmetic" need instead of a necessary one, but I cannot even receive a temporary composite as it would infect the nerve(the whole reason I needed a root canal). Call me crazy but I feel like this is something that should have been called out in the beginning right after our xrays. Anyways - the root canal would have been a "cosmetic" operation and a temporary would be "risky," so here I am with a numb mouth and a wasted day. My original dentist that fixed up my tooth offered me 3 options (temporary composite, crown and then root canal, root canal and then crown) that all worked with my insurance, while this place gave me one to pay out of pocket. This practice is NOT the place to go for dentures. After convincing my wife to extract all of her teeth (the lowers could have been repaired) in April of 2016, Dr Patel was not able to make dentures that fit. She said that she would adjust and realign until my wife was able to wear her teeth. Turlock smiles did finally make a new upper, but required us to pay for the lower (1500.00). The new set also did not fit, and after trying to adjust the new set a few times told us there was nothing they could do. They are sweet and polite until they get paid, but are not willing to follow through. 9000.00 dollars and a year later, my wife is unable to eat anything but mush, and is unable to wear her teeth. read more

Then I show up for my appt and told we do not have one scheduled but I have the appt card to show them. I have called another dentist.
