Friendly, fast dentistry. My husband was amazed. Appointment at 2:00, tooth extracted and home by 2:30.

My husband suggested that he take me to a dentist he had tried when the same thing happened to him. Unfortunately, being new to Turlock, he called Turlock Dental Care which is a very similar name to the dentist office that he was trying to reach. They had an opening so he made an appointment for me. I felt very lucky to get it. Had I only known what was to come l would not have felt so lucky. This mistake would cost me about $10,000 in some unnecessary and some overpriced and quite frankly weird and bizarre dental procedures. Being a senior citizen on a fixed income, this is a big deal. While no one would like this, my husband and I, being retirees, have no way to make it back! The appointment time came and my husband drove me to the office. I must say that I was quite impressed with the fancy office and the initial treatment that I received. They are really good at fooling you into believing that they have your best interests in mind. This is not true. What they actually have in mind is fleecing you of as much cash as possible. After the first "consultation " they lead you to a little room much like a car dealership where you are presented with a bunch of papers to sign. They get you when you are in pain and vulnerable. The only "contract" that was legit was the first one which was for the extraction of the tooth that was causing the pain. The rest was for redoing procedures that were already done by my regular dentist and covered by Medi-Cal (like I said I am a retiree). Being in an extreme pain when questioned about how I would pay for said procedures (I was told that they do not take Medi-Cal no surprise there) I divulged some private information. I was then told to sign the big bundle of paper. Being in that kind of pain, I would and did sign anything. After realizing my terrible mistake, I knew that there was nothing that I could do about it. I figured that I might as well get what I had paid for done. On the final visit, the dentist said that he had time to do the procedure that we had talked about. He said that I should ask my husband who was sitting in the waiting room if we had time to do it. I said that I would text him and see. I had assumed that it was one of the procedures that I had already paid for. Unfortunately, it was not. The dentist said that he would prefer that I go to the waiting room to ask my husband. I now know that was so his employees would think that I asked him to spend another $2700 on a bizarre procedure. This was not the case. I thought that it was something on the list of things that I had already paid for. I went back in. I did not sign anything stating that I understood or agreed to this procedure. All that I know is that it involved running strips of metal between my teeth. This resulted in a chip to one of my front teeth (ironically he had said that if I didn't have this done my two front teeth would fall out) and my previously tight teeth having gaps between them where particles of food are now constantly being stuck. After the procedure was done, my husband and I were escorted to the billing area where we were told that we owed another $2700. My husband, of course, questioned this. The receptionist looked at me and said that I had agreed to it. She very smirky looked at me and said, "You know you did, Mary". I didn't say a word. I knew that there was no point arguing with these people. When I returned to my dentist, he said, "Why didn't you come to me." I told him that it was because he was closed. He also asked why I had had his work that he had just done the month before replaced. I told him that I didn't know that I had. Then I told him what had happened. I told him how my son-in-law had told me that I should have refused to pay. My dentist said that I had to pay. I said that I knew. Otherwise the police would be called. Don't be fooled by the fancy chandeliers. Turlock Dental Care does not have your best interests in mind. It is simply interested in separating you from as much of your hard earned cash as possible! BTW they will probably say that they have no record of me ever being in their office. My credit card statement says differently!

I was charged $75 for an appointment that they asked me about while sitting in the dental chair. When I questioned it, I was met with a cold, dismissive, and borderline rude response(plenty of emails). No willingness to listen, no accountability -- just an inflexible attitude and a "policy is policy" tone. I wasn't a longtime patient, but I had considered becoming one. After this experience, I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. If this is how they treat new patients -- especially a veteran -- I can only imagine what's in store long-term. There's a reason they're sitting at a 3.9. I should've taken that as a warning. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE!!!!

I thought…read moreif you study a speciality beyond just general dentistry then the expectation is you should know what you're doing but the dentist made me feel very uncomfortable by appearing unsure of if he'd be able to complete a root canal which made me unsure if I want an unsure questionable root canal not provided with more confidence. Also, I'm not a doctor but I am a LMFT who's worked in the psych world for 20 years. Because of the meds I take, that I'm aware of a low to no risk of a negative drug interaction and quite frankly, I'm prescribed by my prior general dentists to minimize my anxiety about going to the dentist...and then a specialist who first said he would prescribe something and I could come back the next day except he than felt uncomfortable prescribing because of what I take. The endodontist I ultimately went with who I've seen in the past who is out of network (so I paid a lot more) was accommodating and confident. He did prescribe the medication and I asked are there any negative interactions between my meds and what he was giving me and he said exactly what I said to the geer endodontist which was there is no worry as the meds fall under different drug classes that are often prescribed together as a combination because they do not counteract each other. So, the uncertainty and someone who's uncomfortable prescribing a medication he initially said he would then wouldn't because he doesn't have licenses and certifications to do so or just doesn't understand the low to no risk for contraindications according to medicinal guidelines should be categorized as not a specialist in my opinion. I'd give 1 star but Jessica deserves an added star.
