Always stop by Tuna Shak when I'm visiting.. really gives a SC feel! Giving four stars for the location, ambiance, and live music! It's a great place to stop in for live music, people watching, or catching a game.. it is located right before the pier and there is live music indoors and outdoors most of the day. They have a great happy hour as well but the prices are reasonable without happy hour. The bar is usually crowded and hard to find seating and servers are working hard but can take awhile. My most recent experience with the sushi was subpar but I don't go into it with high expectations for the food. We sat at the bar and couldn't get the attention of the bartender to order food. It wasn't even busy, so I'm not sure what she was doing. Also, they didn't have sushi, which was the reason we came. This bar is right on the boardwalk at Murrel's Inlet next to the sushi restaurant. We grabbed a couple of summer time beers to lift our rainy day spirits and watched some boats come in from their morning fishing trip. We also got to see lots of birds and people watching by the boardwalk is an ideal past time. I love a bar with a view and Tuna Shak has just that! The food didn't appeal to me as much so we just had a couple drinks. There is plenty of space to spread out and the roof kept us dry during the monsoon. This is our #1 go to spot on the marsh walk for happy hour. They have great food and drink special, and the bar tenders are very generous. They play great variety of county music over the speakers, and also frequently have solid live music bands on the stage. VERY BAD experience last night at the TUNA SHAK! Paid my $10 drinks with a FIFTY DOLLAR BILL and received only TEN dollars in change. The bartender never rang up the transaction and put the fifty in his pocket. When he was questioned, he just said " look there in no fifty dollar bill in the register ". The manager proceeded to yell at us to leave, and said if the drawer was over at the end of the night, we could come to get our money the next day. Hands down the best bar I have been too in all of Myrtle Beach area. Highly recommend the Wicked Pineapple drink. Bartenders are very generous. Prices are the most affordable I have seen anywhere here. Great atmosphere. GREAT LIVE MUSIC!! We came all of the way from Central Myrtle to Murrels Inlet. I recommend that in general for this area. My wife ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon, and the bartender brought her a "Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc." Oh, I thought, what's next? A Pinot Noir Grigio? Lol. This place is like the inverse of a Twinkie. A Twinkie doesn't look good on the outside--like a lame doughy dog treat, really--but is sweet and perfect on the inside. The service is slow because the staff are trained in the wrong ways. I love this place !! Right on the Inlet, it's open so the breeze keeps it very cool. On extremely hot days they turn the air conditioning on and use the plastic coverings that still affords you a wonderfull view. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the service. Young girls behind the bar totally ignored us. Had to practically beg for a beer. And we are both in the service industry. We are great tippers!!! Left after first beer because of this. if I could give zero stars I would. went to this place first time last night . 3 bartenders ( 1female and 2 males) were extremely rude. The female bartender put a bunch of things on my tab that were not mine. I addressed this with one male bartender who told me it was an easy fix and he'd fix it. later that evening when I went to close my tab I informed other male bartender that my tab still wasn't right and tried to explain the previous events and he told me I was yelling and calm down ( they play music and it's loud hence why I was yelling ). I then got upset and explained three diff staff couldn't get my bill right and I wanted it corrected and the 2 other bartenders came over and I now had three of them with attitudes telling me to calm down, not a big deal, etc. the 2nd male bartender was the rudest and at one point said he would pay my bill to shut this " bitch up" since shes " too hard up". it was never about not being able to pay but the fact 3 diff staff members screwed up. they finally got the manager Christy who was pleasant and helpful ( bartender Lauren was super pleasant as well). I don't know how the majority of this staff have jobs when their attitude and customer service sucks. bottom line - I did nothing wrong and I didn't screw up the bill so I shouldn't be talked to in that fashion . read more

I haven't eaten here...wasn't even sure if you could but I did see people getting food which I think comes from the Wicked Tuna right next to it. But this is kind of a indoor/outdoor waterfront bar that reminds me of a beach bar because it has the ambiance of tiki and things like big jenga and connect four among other games that people can partake in. I did enjoy that. However the reason I give 3 stars is the service was definitely not up to par. We sat right at the bar on a Sunday evening and it wasn't busy at all but there were people there and 2-3 bartenders so it wasn't like we were backing anyone up or even closing the place down. It took us awhile to even be greeted. The one girl was walking back and forth looking "busy" but I couldn't tell you what she was doing. The other one was drinking something and watching football and there was another one running back and forth from Wicked tuna. Finally the girl finished her drink and came over and took our drink orders. I ordered a moscow mule which was right on the bar menu and the guys ordered beer. I don't know what she thought a moscow mule was but she proceeded to fill a plastic cup with vodka, lime juice, ginger ale, and sweet and sour. It was yellow. I took a swig and omg it was so sour. I asked if she could give me another one with just vodka, splash of lime, and ginger. She looked confused and then had the other girl make it. The other girl told me that this girl didn't know what she was doing and next time order it from a different person...Um okay well why is she working at the bar, she really should learn the drinks... The next drink was better. Then we never were asked if we wanted another drink. We had to flag someone down for one. And the reason we had to flag was because the girls were in the corner doing shots with another guest. I am all for having fun. Drinking on the job? Not so sure that's right but who am I to judge if this is how things are done here. But if you're a bartender and you're reliant on tips, its not that hard to simply acknowledge and serve your guests in a timely manner. They seem nice enough, just nice enough to sit at the bar and have drinks, not work behind the bar. It was a great evening and it was spoiled by not being able to have drinks while sitting AT the bar. I love the atmosphere and location so I'm hoping it would be better with a different staff. read more

This place was not very busy at all, but it took about 10 mins to get a bartender to look my way for a drink. Had no issue getting my first drink with just my ID and I left my tab open. Go back for my second drink, with my tab open, and get told I can't have a drink without a wristband?? When I showed the bartender my ID, she said I have to have a wristband , and when I said I wasn't aware and wasn't sure where to get one, she stated "I don't have to serve you this drink if you don't want me to." Then vaguely points in the direction of the person issuing wristbands. Customer service here is terrible. read more
