    Taproom selections during visit

Top notch creativity in every sip of cider as well as other non-alcoholic libations with lovely indoor and outdoor seating options. Can even bring the pooch for outdoor seating. Multiple food options in the vicinity including bbq, pizza, coffee, pastries. Very close to the Wednesday afternoon/evening and Saturday Abingdon Farmer's market as well. Highly recommended! Definitely loved the hops infused cider, the mixed berry, and the spruce tip infused as well. Awesome root beer. Super creative with lots of heart in this business.

I recommend two flights so you can try them all!

How can I express the level of joy this establishment brought me. I genuinely enjoyed all 9 of the creative selection of ciders! I suggest two flights so you can enjoy each cider, like taking a journey from east to west. My apple sommelier, Alison, was an excellent host, she made memorable recommendations and I'm so grateful to have the pleasure of her expertise. Lovely vibrations in this entire town. I would say this is a highly recommended staple and one of the best cideries in the nation right here in Abington.

What an awesome find in downtown Abingdon, VA! Lovely enclosed patio to sit in the sun and enjoy my flight sampler of ciders!

Flight time at Tumbling Creek Cindery Tasting Room!

Got 2 flights to try everything on tap. Our cider expert was really knowledgeable and helpful. Nothing overly sweet - nice crisp ciders.

Ask the Community - Tumbling Creek Cider

Do they serve food, or can you take your own?

We have some bagged snacks. Customers are always welcome to bring food into our taproom and there are a few great spots for food in the building. Thanks for the question!

We decided to stop here on the way home after hiking at Stone Mountain State Park. I only went in…read moresince we had our dog with us and they aren't dog friendly - which is their choice, some are and some aren't. It was actually a good thing that they weren't because I was disappointed with the tasting, so no reason for both of us to be disappointed. I knew going in I was not going to be a fan of their wines, so I only wanted to try their ciders. They only had two available to try. The standard cider and the sour cherry cider. So the standard cider wasn't even readily available to try. The person giving me the tasting had to tell me that I had to use my imagination as it wasn't ready, but this was the general taste that I would get. Uh okay. The sour cherry cider I thought was great, not very strong on the cherry flavor, but just enough. So essentially I paid for a cider tasting for one cider. Also disappointing that they only sell their cherry cider in growlers. As we don't drink all the time, we would prefer bottles just to have the small amount that we want from time to time, rather than having to drink a larger quantity all at once. So I left empty handed, instead of buying a package or two of bottle (which I would have done). I think they would do much better if they would sell something like cider in bottles like most cideries do. Another thing to mention, so the driveway is uphill/downhill one way. It is a short driveway, but again only one car at a time uphill/downhill. Unfortunately, as we were leaving, another car was coming in, so we had to back up going uphill back into the gravel parking lot - which has a tree with branches way too low, hit the roof of our SUV leaving and well, backing back in. Please trim your trees if you have a tree in the parking lot area. No desire to go back as they have nothing I like in the quantity for us.

Getting here is an…read moreadventure and you will feel as if you are driving through a random neighborhood along a gravel road, which you are, but as soon as you reach the parking lot and take a look out of your window you will see the most beautiful view. There is ample parking. Walking to the building is just a short few feet, and the building looks deceiving. Once you reach the front porch area you will have a better appreciation for this place. There's a building with a porch overhang that has lots of rocking chairs facing the mountain views, then there's poly furniture (one with an umbrella), picnic tables, a covered porch area, an indoor area, and outdoor patio area. The covered outdoor patio has protective sides for bad weather if needed, as well as 3 TVs. This place is absolutely gorgeous. Tons of seating options. They had shaded areas to help you stay cool and comfortable. They do have large heaters and fire pits which would be fantastic for a fall visit and I can only imagine the colorful views at that time of year. There are several options on tap of their coders. You can get a full pour or a flight. The flight was great so that we could try them all. They were tasty. The blood orange was our favorite! They also carry local beers, as well as a case of nonalcoholic beverages. There is a food truck with crab choices that is available for purchase (crab melt, crab pretzel, etc). The prices weren't bad at all. We didn't order anything so can't comment on the quality. They also have chips and suck inside the tap house, as well as shorts and some small merch for sale. The staff is absolutely fantastic and they are very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. You can tell that not only their talent is thrown into this place, but also their whole heart. They have intentionally made this place a great place to be and they make sure that everyone feels welcomed. Not sure if you can bring in outside food or not. I did see some people with bags that had kids. Call and ask as this would be a terrific gathering place to meet people or a great place to perch with a book or a podcast/music in your ears. You could even work up on this little nature oasis. It would be a super cool place to have a party, shower, or even a wedding if it was a small one. Such a vibe here.

It was an exceptionally brilliant idea. The place has a phenomenal staff (especially Opie). They were welcoming, personable and knowledgeable. They had a deep experience with wines that helped guide the experienced wine drinkers and an empathetic approach to those (aka, me) who were clueless. I (ahm, the inexperienced) were never intimidated or given the snob treatment. However, my brother who knows his way around a bottle or two (or at least actively tries to fake it) was given the appropriate insights to what he was drinking. Across the ten of us, we tried multiple different wines and they were all well liked. Many made their way home as people had to take some bottles home. You can tell that I'm an amateur because the whole "flight of wines" thing was new to me. It was brilliant to sample many different varieties in what I would call shooters to the great disappointment of my brother. Yeah, I told you he acted like he knew what he was doing. They also gave us a brief tour of the beautiful grounds as well as a look "behind the scenes". I would really recommend visiting in the fall and maybe seeing things in action. The drive is a bit "way back there", but I highly encourage you to take the trip. It's definitely worth it.
