I searched and searched and then came across H&H and boy am I glad I did! I explained to Howard how I was short on time since it was an auction site and I was going to bid on the truck and the auction was closing in two days. He let me know that he was fully booked but that he would try to fit me in the next morning anyway and so the truck was brought to him by the dealer and he did a thorough inspection. He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and very thorough and found almost a dozen things wrong with the truck, all things that were not being advertised by the seller. He took lots of pictures of everything he found and wrote up a detailed report with all of the issues. This guy probably saved me from a huge mistake and I commend his professionalism and just by speaking with him over the phone a few times, discussing the truck, I could tell that he was one of the good ones- kind of the holy grail of honest mechanics that we all go through our life searching for, usually to no avail. I brought my own brake pads just asking them to replace them…read more I didn't ask for an inspection, but minutes after dropping off the car, they called claiming my rotors urgently needed replacement, pushing the total to $600. They use a polite and friendly front to earn your trust, then trap you. When I called back 10 minutes later to cancel the rotor job, they threatened me with a ridiculous $300+'cancellation labor' fee, claiming they already started. I gave in purely out of concern for my family's safety. When I picked up the car, I asked for my old parts back. To my shock: both my old pads and rotors were still in great shape with years of life left! They replaced perfectly good parts just to inflate the bill and pad their pockets.
