Flying Gatwick to St Lucia return we paid premium for more comfortable seats etc etc.
Priority boarding and a wonderful glass of bubbly after everyone was seated. Service was second to none. Drinks served after about an hour with a bag of nibbles. As I drink vodka on ice I was told that they would catch me on the way back. They did, 'would you like another drink sir?' holding out two bottles and a glass of ice. Love 'em. Followed by a really nice choice of meals with wine. Plenty of time given before coffee and liqueurs. Can't be beaten. Time then to relax, watch a film or two before afternoon tea. Finger sandwiches, scone with cream and jam. Very British. A fantastic flight out and as we left I thanked them all and got a reply of 'a pleasure, vodka king' LOL.
It's a shame I cant give a good report on the flight back. A night flight. We got the drink on arrival. To be told they didn't have blankets. Planes can get cold and most people were in summer wear. Drinks were offered but, this time, no offer of two. The meal was very so-so and trays taken pretty quickly. Luckily we kept our cups and glasses, whereas other passengers had their glasses taken. The flight attendants came around collecting cups and seeing we had our empty glasses asked 'Did we want a drink?' On our response we did get a drink but I think we were the only ones. Then the lights were dimmed for sleep or watching a film but, as an email had stated, entertainment was not working on this flight. I can't sleep on a flight and watch films. Breakfast was served, in the dark, only minimal lighting. We were given a £50 pp refund for no entertainment but no compensation for no blankets. Premium prices aren't cheap. Shrug, still wrong.
Because of the return flight being so bad I can only give full marks for the outgoing flight with a minus two stars for the return.
It gave the impression that TUI had your money but really don't care. read more
