Many issues with Tugwell, first off, when they installed our roof 15 years ago. We said that rain was projected and they started anyway. We woke up to water pouring into our house at 5 in the morning. They quickly got here and put plastic to cover the house, but we had to run fans for two weeks in the attic to dry it out and had to repaint much of the house. Now 15 years later our 40 year guaranteed roof is leaking and they are claiming to not have been the ones who put it on. I'm guessing they got rid of our paperwork in case black mold or other issues arose due to the water getting in. Be very very careful when dealing with this company. We have called many times and they refuse to call us back. read more

14 years ago Tugwell replaced our roof. That is a story in itself. Our roof had been leaking for 2 years now. We have paid to have it fixed. It is still leaking. We paid to have it evaluated and the photos/evidence is beyond disturbing. I have tried to contact them to come and take a look for the past 2 months. They have flaked on us. Asked tugwell crews to slow down on dirt road going to their project and several times but they ignored warnings and sped down road, destroying and vandalizing it. Their last day was today and as they left, they sped down the road at least 50+ mph. Dust cloud for minutes afterwards. Zero respect. I have video of it if anyone thinks this is BS. Meh... The workmanship was acceptable, although they misaligned both my television and internet receivers when they moved them causing each company to have to visit my home to address the issues. One could not visually identify the workers as Tugwell employees because they came in what can only be described as modern homeless chic. In addition, roofing trash, staples, nails, and tools littered my property through out the project. Even after the project was completed I found additional staples and nails for weeks. Work with them if you would like but expect to have to clean during and after the project. read more

They got back to me fast Dan hunter was my go to person for setting up my estimate .Mike was my project manager of my house . Cassie was the office manger she was very helpful with any questions I had . I had a very old roof on my I know it was going to be expensive. I had gotten a estimate from another company but it higher . I knew that they could adjust the estimate if there was any dry rot that needed to be addressed . Mike keep me updated all the way through the process communication was greatly appreciated. I will never recommend this company to anyone I know needing a new roof or even simple repairs. From lack of safety for the workers (a man fell off my roof and broke his jaw), to taking care of my property as a whole, they are horrible. They left raw edges on my fascia with zero communication that doing so exposes the wood to the elements which can lead to rot. So now fixing this is in addition the the 26k I spent. They also failed to inform me a board on my soffit was broken/half missing and just continued to lay sheathing which is visible from the ground. No suggestion to replace the board, they just didn't say anything at all. They also replaced all but 6 of the 4'6" on my gable ends. It was mentioned to me that they planned to replace every other one, and flip the ones they didn't replace. This never happened. When I asked about the obvious error, Mike told me it was too much work for his men, so they just didn't do what they said they would. The crew also broke a board on my side gate, and instead of telling me what happened, they tossed the broken piece behind my sprinkler valves to (I'm only guessing here) try to hide it? I had to find this out on my own and they did not offer to repair the damaged board. The amount of garbage left behind when it was all said and done was not a significant amount, however an entire broken rake was tossed in my yard and not cleaned, and all the metal tines that fell off were stashed behind my condenser unit. I had to check to make sure none fell inside the actual unit, because it would be another expense they caused that I'd be responsible for. We had our roof installed by Tugwell just over a month ago. We were so pleased with the entire process. Initially, David, their estimator, arrived on time, was thorough and honest. It did take some time to finally have all the work scheduled since they are so busy right now. Once it was scheduled everything ran smoothly. The project leader, Cody, was very good with communication and kept us informed during the tear-off and installation. The work crews were professional and fast! Tugwell Roofing Co. stripped our existing roofing and installed a new roof. The work progressed well and the workers were very polite. The final product looks great, but of course, the real test is when it rains, which lately, occurs only a couple of times per year. My only complaint is that they cleaned only 99% of their demo mess. Walking around my property, I am still picking up small bits of the old asphalt roofing. Worst of all, though they used a strong magnet to clear nails and staples from my driveway, they didn't clear my backyard deck, lawns, or garden of the dangerous metals (see photo) fasteners. I had cleaned it up after they left to prevent anyone from stepping on the sharp ends and to prevent children from putting these in their mouthes. And there were quite a few nasty pieces around. When they leave your home, be sure and check for nails and staples, especially in the landscaped areas and lawns. read more

TL;DR The 'quote' was outrageously overpriced and they vastly overestimated the amount of work that needed to be done. They were just hoping I was stupid enough to not gather any other quotes and just replace my entire roof. They make more money that way. Full story I had a minor leak in my roof in one spot. They sent out someone to inspect the roof and prepare a quote for me. He spent 10 minutes walking around on the roof inspecting things and taking measurements. He didn't even get inside the attic to check the condition of the boards near the leak. He came back and said I needed a total roof replacement and gave a rough estimate of about $13,000, but that a more detailed quote would be sent to me later. I asked what just a repair would cost. He said they wouldn't guaranty repair work and that he couldn't give me a rough estimate on that, it would have to wait for the proper quote. I asked what exactly was wrong with the roof. He said the valleys of the roof were not installed correctly and that is the source of the leak. Bear in mind, he never actually went into the attic to see where the leak originated. He was eyeballing it from outside. He made no mention of the condition of the roof material itself. My shingles still have many years of life in them. I only have 2 short valleys on one side of my roof in a gable that extends over a small part of the house. So, for a minor leak in an area of the roof that is only about 250 square feet of a 2,000 square foot roof he wanted to do a total roof replacement and charge more than double the cost to replace a roof of that size. Well, I waited a few weeks for the bad news to roll in (the full quote) and got nothing. No call, no letter, no follow up at all. I guess wanting a repair and not a total roof replacement meant I wasn't worth their time. The Greed is strong with these people. Well, I got quotes from other companies and did some price research of my own. I got some interesting results. For a roof of my size, on a single-story house, which is standard three-tab asphalt shingles and a standard pitch (ie easy to work on), the high end going rate for a total replacement is about $6,000-$8,000. That is for 30-year life shingles. They said they wanted almost double that. And guess what? Not a single other company that came out said I needed a total roof replacement. One other company said it would be best to replace all the roofing on the gable but even they said the other 80% of my roof was fine. Do not hire these thieves. They are gouging their prices, lying about the amount of work that needs to be done, and don't follow up when they say they will. read more

Extremely satisfied with the quality of work and the customer service from Tugwell Roofing! We had a big job: A very big, old (120 year old) home in Chico. It required a double tear-off (metal roof on top of wood shake), as well as all new plywood and multiple carpentry repairs. The original plan estimated the whole job would take 10 working days, but they somehow pulled it off in 6 days without compromising quality at all. We were super impressed with how friendly and professional all the guys were. They showed up early in the morning and hit the ground running every day. They even went above and beyond with our old dog, and were very sweet with her and conscientious of her whereabouts when doing the tear offs and making sure the gate was always closed. This company didn't really care customer and proud. I asked them to quote my both houses's roof, one for repairing and one for renew. The sales person name Dan came and did it. They gave me quote in email. And I call staff and been connect with Dan about the price to be adjusted. They refused and later I decided to go with their bid since I don't want to spend so much time doing research. Then Dan came to my house with documents to sign contract. Sitting in my living room and already signed the repair one, he suddenly cross the price on the document and what I officially have been notified. He said it's wrong and add more than four thousands on. Then he was laughing to apologize saying we are all human thing. I said he didn't take this serious is not the way to do business. There's so many times that they can find mistakes yet they came with a print out contract to cross with pen like that is so strange. Then Dan wasn't happy and throw words to leave my house like you don't need to do business with us. I talked with the owner on the phone and owner kept on cutting my words and defending Dan. This company doesn't show too much responsibility on mistakes they made and not care too much about trust or respectfulness between customers. Wow where do I begin? Sad to say a very bad review. Not only being put off many times for a month and a half but the job is far from perfect. The contract says daily cleanup and because the crew seemed to have to rush off early, a whole container of nails, staples, screenings, and debris were left that had to be cleaned up so the elderly woman who owns the house could have stepped on them or her dog. She also had screenings put on the gutters and there is still debris so that they will have to be taken off to clean..sorry, but too much money was spent for a small job that should have been more professionally done. read more

He was out to our house within a few hours, and he was very professional and thorough. He offered us many different options of service, provided us with roofing samples and took the time to explain energy efficiencies of the different roofing products.
