Did you hear about Hulen Mall catching on fire? I couldn't believe it! I went up there to see how…read morethings looked. Everything looked the same, nice and clean with polished floors, new plants and a steady crowd, mostly a younger generation. There were lots of summer sales and a new store called Q. I think, it's the new Forever 21. However, the Second floor had the obvious smell of smoke mixed with a Columbian Coffee scent. They are working hard to get rid of the smell. They have several Hydroxyl Generators throughout the second floor to help ease the smell of smoke. So, shop til you drop then crawl with a subtle scent of smoke! Lol.

The record stores are long gone, the demographic that they pander to has changed, and sadly the population that visits has obviously decreased a lot as well. We were there a few days before Christmas and there was only a handful of people walking around. We stopped in just to visit since we had just finished dinner at the attached restaurant. There is a handful of closed spots, with a few displaying signs that a new one is coming. A lot of the stores we were used to visiting are gone. The place seems, to me, a bit run down. Musty and a bit dusty. I can see where some items were made more modern and updated, but it still feels like it's aged a lot and not gracefully. For malls, it's a smaller one, it doesn't' carry a wide foot print, nor a very long one. The outside gives it a large appearance, but inside it's tiny. Even with its size, it's a decent mall to visit.

In the meantime, I walked around and poked my head into a few of the stores. Well pleased with my adventure. Please shop here!

If you end up at WHBM, I'll mention that their store manager Karina is the sweetest salesperson you could ask for. If you're ever in the area I'd definitely recommend stopping here! While several of the stores do cater to somewhat more mature customers, it's a great place for TCU students too; stores like Anthropologie and Free People immediately come to mind. Even in some of these stores that normally cater to older customers (mainly WHBM) I've found some cute items that might be appropriate for something like a sorority function; don't be afraid to have an open mind. Also, several of the clothing stores here seem trans- and GNC-friendly in my experience. As mentioned above I've had great experiences with WHBM, but Ann Taylor, Chico's (sister brand to WHBM), Madewell, Anthropologie, and Free People also felt welcoming as well.

The store was clean, organized and everyone on staff that I spoke with was friendly, accommodating and did a great job. The moment I walked in, I was greeted. Because this isn't my Marshall's, I wasn't sure where some items were. I stopped to ask a woman and she was so sweet in her response, directed me exactly where to go and asked if I needed anything else. I made a quick pit stop and the bathrooms were ok, as far as a Marshall's bathroom goes - I certainly didn't feel like I needed to run home and bathe afterwards. This Marshall's is much bigger than my usual one in Austin and had so many great items! I found everything I needed, grabbed my purchases and headed to the counter to check out. The woman that rang up my items was very sweet. I think this store is doing a great job and I have no complaints other than the bathrooms need a little TLC, but you don't really come to Marshall's to go potty, ok?

Got to the Register and the lady ringing up the order just took the items off the hanger and wadded it up and put it in the bag. I asked her if I could just leave everything on hangers and she was like No and it was at that point I asked her if she would please fold the clothes neatly vs wadding them up. I was pleasant in the request but my RBF said it all. She thought I was rude. Frustrating!
