It's dangerous there! Wasn't there for long before Christmas with Maddie and Rose and was having lunch there. Finished eating there and was ready to shop and noticed all the stores were closed at 12:30 am ! What was going on?? All of sudden a police stop is and said the mall is on lockdown! Go to your car immediately! People were running and store owners said " Hurry!, There's a shooting and kidnapping inside the mall ! "

Dillard's n Macy store have huge collection of everything under one roof. Talk about shoes, cloths, makeup , accessories or bedding. U can get it all here. Back to school sale was at all the stores like VAN s , forever 21 n victoria secret opened their doors from 6-8 with a special sale prices even though the rest of the mall closed at 6. A huge food court n clean washrooms are rare to find in crowded malls but here it wasn't a problem. Thanks to regular janitorial service through out the day since we were at the mall from 2-6 ( which is pretty long time) Coin operated massage chairs n other kiosks are open late. Probably till 7 . U get shoe shining station too.

Finding a parking spot is tiresome. However, when I called mall information I received great instructions on how to quickly get to the specialty store I needed. The mall is by far not in the same leave as Houston malls. After finding what I need; I walked the mall. (Took 5 minutes). Now I didn't hit the bottom because what I saw on from the top level looking down let me know that it wasn't worth going downstairs. I guess the top level set the tone.

I have not been to this mall in at least 10 years. It has held up really well. Very clean and forward thinking with trends. Parking everywhere. They have a cool kids play area that also can accommodate a child's party. This mall also has a nursing area. (Way to go! That's how you support your female customers!) The family restroom has a tiny toilet for the littles. Very thoughtful experience. Would reccomend.

If you considered Ridgmar Mall a pretty girl, then Hulen Mall would be the sensible woman. I don't know what really makes this place so much better. Anywhere you go within the mall it just feels alive. It's a very light and airy place that reminds me of Florida (maybe it's the palm trees that do it). And like KAI S. said, the food court has a fantastic selection (try Opah). Complaint?... It really doesn't have much to do with the mall as it does with the area it's in. Traffic. Seriously, Congested, South Arlington-like traffic. If you find yourself in this area around 4-6 PM on a weekday, then just stay close to the mall and keep yourself busy. And go at your own risk on the weekend, geez. Especially if you are trying to go North, there is no relief anywhere and you will be stuck in some kind of traffic. But once you get past I-20 you're fine. All in all, I guess we can consider ourselves lucky to have two great malls (Ridgmar and Hulen) with two different personalities so close to one another.

No holiday extended hours is unacceptable! Guess I'll have to travel to another mall to complete my Christmas shopping.

If you end up at WHBM, I'll mention that their store manager Karina is the sweetest salesperson you could ask for. If you're ever in the area I'd definitely recommend stopping here! While several of the stores do cater to somewhat more mature customers, it's a great place for TCU students too; stores like Anthropologie and Free People immediately come to mind. Even in some of these stores that normally cater to older customers (mainly WHBM) I've found some cute items that might be appropriate for something like a sorority function; don't be afraid to have an open mind. Also, several of the clothing stores here seem trans- and GNC-friendly in my experience. As mentioned above I've had great experiences with WHBM, but Ann Taylor, Chico's (sister brand to WHBM), Madewell, Anthropologie, and Free People also felt welcoming as well.

One area that remains the same is the area surrounding the movie theater. I remember my first theater experience here watching the motion picture Aladdin. I'm glad the mall remains open and has kept some of its original charm. Sadly, many malls are having a hard time staying afloat. During my two hour visit, I experienced quite a bit. First I'll start with the least enjoyable parts. When I first walked in, I immediately noticed a woman at the lower-level sports bar and grill wearing a thong and a shirt. Not a short skirt, like her coworker only a thong. It's definitely not what I expected to see after returning for the first time in five years. She quickly moved out of view when she noticed my reaction, but it still left a strong first impression. As I headed up the escalator, I was approached by staff from La Perla handing out menus and trying to guide me into their restaurant. The same thing happened as I walked through the food court. I wouldn't call it a bad experience, but it did feel a bit overwhelming as my first encounter upon entering the upper-level of the mall. From my experience working in a mall, I've noticed food court staff often offer samples, which I think is a more inviting way to attract customers. A small taste can go a long way, when a restaurant wants to acquire new customers and grow their clientele. I read reviews regarding the food court establishments beforehand, and many mentioned rude service, overpriced and subpar food. It would have been nice to try good authentic Mexican cuisine rather than the usual Tex-Mex I tend to eat. I did stop by Mr. Churro, where I enjoyed a cup of ice cream fully loaded with toppings of my choice. Next, while shopping at Burlington and Ross, I noticed loss prevention stationed at the entrances. Having my bag checked and showing my receipt felt a bit uncomfortable, but I understand it's become a common practice to prevent stealing. Another unexpected moment happened while I was shopping. A young toddler suddenly balled up his fist hitting my shopping bag like it was a punching bag. His mother told him to stop but didn't apologize. Later, I saw him hitting his mother repeatedly while she did nothing to correct the behavior, which was uncomfortable to witness. On a more positive note, I really enjoyed the vibrant cultural atmosphere of the plaza. The beautiful quinceañera dresses, crowns, bouquets, and accessories are stunning. The cowboy boots, hats, and western attire also stood out to me. There's a center stage for performances, a creatively designed Dino plaza, and several eye catching displays that make for great photo opportunities. Overall, I had a great time and would come back on a weekday when it's less crowded to enjoy the many food court options and shops.
