There's a certain charm to a mall that still has both a Build-A-Bear and a Victoria's Secret within 30 feet of each other. It's like childhood and adulthood arm-wrestling in the food court. I wandered past a perfume cloud thick enough to get its own zip code and ended up buying socks I didn't need, snacks I regretted, and confidence I didn't have. It's chaotic. It's weirdly nostalgic. It's Hulen Mall. 4 stars for the experience, minus one star for nearly being tackled by a flying drone toy demo.

I think, it's the new Forever 21. However, the Second floor had the obvious smell of smoke mixed with a Columbian Coffee scent. They are working hard to get rid of the smell. They have several Hydroxyl Generators throughout the second floor to help ease the smell of smoke. So, shop til you drop then crawl with a subtle scent of smoke! Lol.

The thing I associate the most with west 7 is their bars and night life. A lot of these places are open during the day as a brunch/restaurant but I prefer the bar scene at night. It can be dangerous is you go to certain places as it can get rough but if you just walk away and dont start trouble you will be fine. At night there are a lot of people here and it can get very dirty with lots of trash due to there being a lot of food trucks in the area. You can find tacos, empanadas, pizza, sandwiches and even BBQ being sold at night out here in the streets. Parking is free if you purchase something from some of the restaurants there but that is not always the case. Free street parking can be found you just have to look or you can pay for staying in the garage. A couple of blooks have 'pay to work' with parking meters but they usually offer you 2 free hours. I would suggest parking as far away and then walking to west 7 at night because if you park on the street after 10pm they will tow your car. I seen it happen multiple times where people pay and park but dont read that it expires at 10pm and right on the dot the tow trucks come out and take peoples car. Be careful where you park and dont start any trouble.

One area that remains the same is the area surrounding the movie theater. I remember my first theater experience here watching the motion picture Aladdin. I'm glad the mall remains open and has kept some of its original charm. Sadly, many malls are having a hard time staying afloat. During my two hour visit, I experienced quite a bit. First I'll start with the least enjoyable parts. When I first walked in, I immediately noticed a woman at the lower-level sports bar and grill wearing a thong and a shirt. Not a short skirt, like her coworker only a thong. It's definitely not what I expected to see after returning for the first time in five years. She quickly moved out of view when she noticed my reaction, but it still left a strong first impression. As I headed up the escalator, I was approached by staff from La Perla handing out menus and trying to guide me into their restaurant. The same thing happened as I walked through the food court. I wouldn't call it a bad experience, but it did feel a bit overwhelming as my first encounter upon entering the upper-level of the mall. From my experience working in a mall, I've noticed food court staff often offer samples, which I think is a more inviting way to attract customers. A small taste can go a long way, when a restaurant wants to acquire new customers and grow their clientele. I read reviews regarding the food court establishments beforehand, and many mentioned rude service, overpriced and subpar food. It would have been nice to try good authentic Mexican cuisine rather than the usual Tex-Mex I tend to eat. I did stop by Mr. Churro, where I enjoyed a cup of ice cream fully loaded with toppings of my choice. Next, while shopping at Burlington and Ross, I noticed loss prevention stationed at the entrances. Having my bag checked and showing my receipt felt a bit uncomfortable, but I understand it's become a common practice to prevent stealing. Another unexpected moment happened while I was shopping. A young toddler suddenly balled up his fist hitting my shopping bag like it was a punching bag. His mother told him to stop but didn't apologize. Later, I saw him hitting his mother repeatedly while she did nothing to correct the behavior, which was uncomfortable to witness. On a more positive note, I really enjoyed the vibrant cultural atmosphere of the plaza. The beautiful quinceañera dresses, crowns, bouquets, and accessories are stunning. The cowboy boots, hats, and western attire also stood out to me. There's a center stage for performances, a creatively designed Dino plaza, and several eye catching displays that make for great photo opportunities. Overall, I had a great time and would come back on a weekday when it's less crowded to enjoy the many food court options and shops.

Everything I said about this place in my previous review, still rings true but they do have a lot of clothing that older women find appealing. So we found a beautiful smock blouse, long and floaty in a nice bright red and we brought it up to the counter. It was $160 plus with tax and all the girl did was wad up in a ball and stuff in a bag , but she even had to ask if we wanted a bag. Really these people don't care about what they're selling behind the counter I was appalled Do we want a bag? Did you think we were gonna wear it out? And what of the merchants there wouldn't they appreciate having their stock treated a little bit better with a little bit more respect.?

The only downside is it appears to get a tad warm but definitely nothing in comparison to the heat outside the few times I've visited, but other than that, it's nice to walk around, get your steps in, shop around etc. A lot of people tend to go here to do a few laps whether it's walking or power walking, and I've also walked around with my stroller. The hallway to the restrooms looks like something from a horror movie, but other than at least the restrooms are functional.Oh and their elevator hasn't been working for a while now. I was planning an outing to the Military Museum of Fort Worth so I decided to come check out Ridgmar Mall. I walked all of the first and second floor of this mall on a Wednesday in April of 2026. Sadly, the museum is no longer in Ridgmar, there's a sign posted at their former location. I can tell this was once a thriving mall. I wish that it still was. The food court has 2 restaurants open. I saw 3 or 4 salons and at least 3 clothing boutiques open for business. And thankfully LensCrafters and JCPenney are in here still going strong. If you're looking into driving big rigs they have a school in here. Online shopping- BOO to you! While I was there I saw approximately 14 other people not counting employees.
