Thomas Edison Electric

my experience with Thomas Edison electrical contractors was not a good one. I am new to the…read morepottstown area and with power out I started a search via the yellow pages for an electrician. Already a bit behind the power curve (inexperienced) on these matters, I focused on the big advertisers that made lots of claims about fast responses and guarantees. This was my first mistake. companies who chose to have large advertising budgets usually have high prices and hidden fees, and this is ultimately passed on to the consumer. anyway, Edison informed me that there would be a $95 service call fee just to show up. I agreed thinking that at the very least this bought me an estimate but I was wrong, it bought me nothing. the electrician showed up at the end of a 2 hr. window. I explained to him that power is traced up to the Main breaker, the breaker is tripped and will not reset and is probably the problem. he agreed and writes up an estimate of $895 to replace it! Now folks, I wasn't born yesterday. it's a 20 minute job (by his own admission) and a $46 part. I asked him to justify that quote and he responded that these charges are predetermined by the company. I paid him his $95 show up fee and sent him on his way. He would not even acknowledge that the estimate was a diagnosis of the problem.I would have had to pay him more for a diagnosis, so what was I getting for the $95? - a guy to show up? In the end I got a guy to come out for free and he did the repair for $120. the part would have cost another $46 but he was willing to use a spare Breaker (new) I had.

We recently had the water heater replaced because we had a "contract" that saved 10 or 15%. Well…read morethey came in and did the work. The kid did a fantastic job but we were charged $2800 for a $17-1800 dollar job. Called in to ask why it was that price when 2 other places we called both said the same price, $1000+ cheaper. Took the manager I guess he was 2 weeks to get back up with us and he said he had to do research on how competitive the pricing was and kept trying to explain there quality of parts and service warranted the cost. Well my wife wouldn't accept it and they finally refunded us $250. So we cancelled the contract and just had another plumbing issue and used Drain Chasers Plumbing in Georgetown and he was fantastic. Super nice, and a private owned business. Sean from Drain Chasers was who we had just come out and gave me his personal cell phone number for if any other issues arise.

I got very ill from gas in house. After 2 days they put sealant on gas lines. They said everything was fixed. Why they went out and messed with my ac to fix furnace is beyond me. They caused a 3 yr old ac unit to stop working. It had worked perfectly till they touched it. Gave me a price of $332 to $2,700 to fix it. Something they screwed up. They also burned up my thermostat. I have hired another company to fix it at half the lowest price. Never hire this company for any repairs. Besides screwing everything up I could have died from gas exposure. I demand a refund!!
