Pete is absolutely reliable--if he says he'll be there, he'll be there. He goes out of his way to take care of the details (e.g., coloring the mortar so that it'll dry to match the original now darkened material). If you need masonry repair, track down Pete--you'll be glad you did!

This company is a great choice for all masonry and brick repair work as well as brick and stone…read moreconstruction projects. We came into contact with them when we needed someone to do extensive tuckpointing and repair work on two old stone walls leading into a basement garage on our 70-year-old house, but we were having trouble finding a company that was interested in just repair and tuckpointing. We eventually called a high-end concrete and masonry contractor that specializes in large and elaborate masonry projects and asked them for a recommendation and they provided Masonry Craftsman's contact info. I called Pete, Masonry Craftsman's owner, and he offered to stop by and take a look as soon as we could be available. When Pete first came to the door, I mentioned in passing that we had at one time wanted to replace the front brick entrance stairs that he was standing on but had found it would be prohibitively expensive. The stairs had been a bad DIY project by a previous owner that resulted in two super-steep steps that were a chore for most people to climb. I told him that we had spoken with several contractors in the past and they all said we needed to tear them completely out and replace them with poured concrete for a huge amount of money which we couldn't justify spending on the house. Pete took a look and quickly proposed a plan to insert two additional brick steps into the stairway, and also mentioned that he could tint the mortar and use some extra brick we had of the same type so it would all look original to the house. He quoted us a price that we felt was reasonable for the work involved in order to repair both the walls and to redesign the front steps . Long story short, Pete and his assistant Dave were able to start immediately and finished the job a day faster than promised, and it all looks terrific. The stairs were particularly great considering that we thought we would never be able to afford to do anything to fix them. The idea Pete came up with is not only very functional and allows people to enter and exit the house without climbing gear, but it really matches the character of the house. Our walls also look very nice as well and Pete and Dave cleaned everything up thoroughly before they left. We usually cringe at the thought of having anyone work on our house because it often results in disappointment, but this is one of the few times that we have had our expectations exceeded, and both Pete and Dave were very pleasant to work with (they even fixed a small cracked area in our neighbor's sidewalk for free with some leftover mortar). We will definitely call them again for any masonry-related jobs.

My husband and I needed a fix for our old heaved garage floor quickly as we were getting ready to…read morelist the house. We called and a nice young man came out to give us a quote. He said that to fix our floor would be no problem and that after the mudjacking was completed, the cracks would be filled and floor smoothed out. Now we understood that the floor would not be 100% level when finished but that the tripping hazards would at least be eliminated. Up until the day of the service, everyone was very professional and friendly. They even moved the service up a day to help us out and beat the pending bad weather. Once the crew arrived, it was a different story. While they were also fairly friendly, they had to take the time to clean their equipment in our street, scraping out old concrete prior to mixing our batch. Their hoses were also frozen, so it was a good thing we had some they could use.The guy in charge (who wandered around smoking on our property) also had some reservations about whether or not the job could be done. He had to call and ask for advice, but was quickly told it would work by the person on the other end of the line. Anyway, they quickly got underway, drilled 5 holes in our garage floor and proceeded to fill the first hole (in the worst area). Almost immediately, a new crack was created and the concrete outside the garage was also cracked. They were able to lift some parts of the floor, but not like we were told (twice). The crew then told us nothing else could be done. We were left with a floor that now had new cracks, was not anywhere near level, and a giant chunk of concrete that they were at least kind enough to take with them. No cracks were filled like we were told. The worker said that our original contact would come back out to inspect the job and cut us a break. They then cleaned out their equipment in our front yard leaving tire marks from the machinery in the wet grass and mud. Later that day the original contact called instead of coming by. He offered a $300 dollar discount. When my husband argued that only 50% of the job was done and felt that half of what was owed was fair, the young man (who was really no more than a "salesperson") said that he has to charge a minimum to cover insurance for his guys. Nowhere in the paperwork we received, was there a disclaimer about a minimum charge for insurance purposes, or what that actual amount was/is. We ended up settling on a 50% discount and have paid them as promised, but the entire deal felt a little shady. Why he never came out to actually see what was done is concerning. It was made clear we were not really a priority, but just some quick cash to be made. This company, while registered with the BBB, is not one I would recommend to anyone. Oh, and we still ended up forking out quite a bit of money to fill the cracks that we were told would be filled upon completion.

I had to call back to get a scheduled date before the quote expired and then they showed up 4 days early setting off my alarm. Good thing my fiancé was home to disable it. Other than the scheduling issues the job was done very well in raising my driveway and front walkway. All the holes were filled as promised and after 8 inches of rain nothing has moved and the work seems very solid.
