But I wasn't buying one of their very fine table pieces - or their cross sections for whatever tickles you fancy. No, I was picking through their scrap pile in the back! It's about the size of a school bus, and it's basically non-precious cuts left over, or cuts too thin to be utilized in their impressive showroom otherwise. They charge around $9 per piece - I bought a 7 foot walnut slab to transform into a wall-mounted coat rack. Cost me $9.50. They'll also clean it up, plane it, and cut it down for a fee. I didn't do it, but it's nice to know they're so accommodating. They're definitely in a location that's a pain to park in front of if you're coming up the hill from the west - as there's a double line, and no turn around for over a mile. But once you make it - and though their place is wildly unrefined - you'll find a sort of boutique lumber mill of accommodating patronage. I'll definitely be back to visit. The wood's fair, the help is knowledgeable, and the stock is spectacular. You'd do well to visit too!

The died lumber indoor is pricier, but still a bargain. Super nice folks and a great selection. Very good website for this sort of operation too...

Needed a cubic yard of 3/4 rock for a DIY drainage project in our back yard (which equates to 50+ bags from a home improvement store, typically at least $2 each). We rented a truck from a nearby "Home" improvement store, drove to JCBM, paid for the rock and had the truck bed loaded in less than 10 minutes, and were on our way...thus saving ourselves about 30% (not to mention multiple trips to the store). We happen to only live a few miles away, but if we were any further away or needed more rock, it would have made economic sense to just pay for delivery based on crunching the numbers.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the finished product, and they were able to match to my existing hardwoods at about 98% closeness. I was very happy. Fast-forward three years, I had a leak in my kitchen and hired a contractor to do a full kitchen remodel, including refinishing the entire first floor hardwoods. They did a poor job at refinishing the floors. There were cracks in the floors, the stain didn't match at all (despite the exact same stain color and brand), and there was pooling of stain everywhere. I actually texted Tyrer to come and give a second opinion on the bad work of the contractors I hired, which they gladly came to assess the situation. Twice. For 2 separate issues. I just thought all hardwood companies did about the same quality work - I was wrong. Tyrer even consulted for a friend who had similar issues with her floors. I've recommended Tyrer to all my friends, and if I'm not able to settle with my existing contractor, I am absolutely hiring them to redo the poor craftsmanship of the other company. I also intend to hire them to redo any carpets in my house. Jason, Joy, and Ronnie - Thank you so much for all your help, even when it's providing a second opinion.
