Point Roberts Shell Center - Gas pump~

Point Roberts Shell Center

Shell is fast becoming my go-to place for picking up parcels. Yes, there is gas here too, but it's…read moreexpensive. Go to Can-Am next door. (I see Simon K. has beat me to saying this). This review is about the shipping desk inside the gas station. Parking is plentiful in front of the building. How does it compare to the competition? Good: - friendly, helpful, and courteous staff. Special mention. - Open until 1800 (matches or beats all of the competition) - Parcels are held for 30 days before racking up additional fees (more than the competition). Another special mention. - Open 7 days a week! (none of the competition are open on Sundays) Yet another special mention. - No charge for disposal of small boxes. The site mentions they are supposed to charge $1-4, but I have yet to be dinged. Speaks volumes about how great the staff are. - Nice big warehouse - they can pretty much process anything you buy. Tires included. - Cheap for really small packages - only $2.50! Bad: - Can't be late after closing down. The lady I talked to said the tills shut automatically. Get here at 1801? Sorry, come back tomorrow. Other places you can call and have them wait an extra 5 minutes or whatever. - They can be more expensive than the competition for some of the bigger packages, so do your homework if you're ordering something like a table. Compared to the competition (TSB, TLC, P2P), this place beats out everyone else in almost every single category (other than the big package deal) I can think of. You can thank me later.

As with all my other reviews of Point Roberts, there is really only two things that us (yes.... I'm…read moreseperating this) Canadians come down here for, parcels and gas, really, for us, there is nothing else here. With both those things there at least are options, the ratio I think is probably 1:1 with the post office joints and gas stations, and if you just crossed the border, this is the second gas station you will get to. You can go for the cheaper gas solution next door (the Can-Am) or you can come to Shell. We all have our allegiance's, and even toward gas, cause even though we don't consume it (well I don't..... but you people may like to sniff this stuff up like cocaine!) we believe our cars like what we decide to put in it, and I feel Shell gives me some more horsepower than other gas. The place is open 24 hrs, well the pumps are, the store would be closed if you came during nightfall, but as long as you have some plastic on you, not a problem. The prices are in litres (for all of you who don't understand what a gallon is!) and you'll know what you paid for considering this maybe the only thing you do down here and you can chuckle inside how much you saved while driving home.

If I could give zero stats I would! Horrible customer service terrible attitude from a woman!!!…read moreThey wanted to charge an extra 140 for a parcel to be picked up because I didn't use their specific USPS box! They also wanted to charge me for 30 lbs even tho my package was 15 lbs just because the box is big! (Apparently this is called dimensional weight) It doesn't weigh a lot because it is full of baby clothes this is ridiculous!!! I will have my package sent back and will not use this carrier again for Point Roberts

The postmistress is fine as a person. I've met her three times, and she's been helpful and…read morefriendly. The service, however, is run poorly. Mail is delivered days late; you see it on USPS's Informed Delivery mail for that day, and it doesn't actually show up in your mailbox until three days later, if ever. I have letters that I see on Informed Delivery due to be delivered on the say that never make it to my mailbox. They are never returned to sender, they just disappear between the Post Office and my house. Mailman is lovely and wonderful as a person, but he never actually picks up the mail unless he's also delivering something. The mail can be in your box, with the flag down, on a main road, for DAYS, and nothing. In the end you lose patience and take it down to the post office yourself. We constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY get mail for the people around the corner, who have the same house number, but a completely different street name. I've sent packages that have been returned because the address isn't somewhere USPS actually delivers (new housing complex), and the postmistress refuses to refund the cost, or even the additional services purchased, because how was she to know they don't deliver there. Well, I called the USPS helpline, and the random stranger who answered knew they didn't deliver there, because all of USPS shares the same system, so... I've lived in a dozen different places in a handful of states across the US, and I have never had an issue with the post office until now, where it is a repeated hassle.

Some months ago I stupidly left a parcel on the counter and it was quickly stolen by another customer. The staff was quick to review video and reveal the crime. Ok I admit I was hesitant in writing this review - about my mailbox service (whoa so exciting ... I…read moreknow ... please try & read on) just across the border in Merica! It's kinda like inviting your mechanic over for dinner isn't it ... ewwww! But do not judge - as they say! I'm compelled to write this due to the gratitude I have for - Mail Boxes International or MBI. You see like many Canadians & vice versa Americans, we were severely impacted by the border closure in effect since mid March 2020! Have I told you about how much I hate bats!!? S*#'! I began to wonder if I would ever be able to pick up my orders or would they be lost forever ... maybe even end up on one of those 'unclaimed items' auctions you see on TV!? 'Hey that's my 85" TV about to be sold off!' LOL. Land crossings at the border finally reopened last week. Yahoooooo!!! Cheesecake Factory - I missed you soooooo much! You see its cheaper for Canadians to set up mailboxes just across the border & receive parcels this way as a means of avoiding paying high duty! Items going through a customs inspection are charged a dreaded 'customs fee' & it ain't cheap! I am still required to declare everything I bring back to Canada to the border agents - when driving back up. But the point being - it's way cheaper this way & I save quite a bit in duty & fees! MBI stepped up big time & continued receiving my eBay orders along with everyone else that utilizes MBI shipping & mailing service. https://www.thenorthernlight.com/stories/blaine-mailbox-stores-use-creativity-as-they-wait-for-the-us-to-open-canada-border,17567 There's several hundred mailbox services right along the entire border coast to coast. https://beta.ctvnews.ca/local/british-columbia/2020/7/6/1_5013463.html I love this location near the truck crossing - with easy access to gas stations & Cost Cutter supermarket. This was part of the email MBI sent out back in 2020 to all users, when the pandemic effects started to drag on ... "We have signed a short term lease on a new warehouse just down the street from us to create more room for your parcels! This increased our storage space immensely. We're continuing to keep free storage until the border opens back up." A sign of just how much the backup of parcels was occurring! Look at the ports of most waterfront cities today - major backlog of shipping containers stuck on ships unable to dock because of labour issues brought on by the pandemic. Sorry but you might not get your Christmas present from Santa this year. I'm so ever grateful to MBI, that all my orders were well taken care of. I picked up everything I ordered over the last 20 months with no issues! Keep in mind that with each coming month a new Coronavirus variant is being discovered - which could mean even more border restrictions!!! So act now or be subject to variant #54, virus #27 & wave #95 restrictions!!! Yikes! It would be funny if it almost weren't true ... so this is the point at were you start ... crying! *Hot tip alert* - you can use WiFi here & fill in your details on the ArrivCan App just before heading to the border! Awesome! I highly recommend MBIs services! Perhaps I just might invite the staff of MBI over for dinner after all! Naaaaaahhh ... but regardless, much love to you all at MBI!!!
