Out of the five hours I spent with Jay Chao I received a custom block highlight with a haircut. The…read moresalon was empty with hair piled on the floor. The service was quite expensive ($440) for something that wasn't exactly what I wanted either. They had spent around 2 hours sectioning my hair and making demeaning tsk tsk sounds laughing at the complicated work that had been done. When I asked what they were making reactions to, they said nothing but I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. After the bleach was done they toned the hair back to brown which was confusing to me as I had asked to keep the blonde bright. They ended up having to take 30 minutes to forcefully scrub the glaze out which left my hair feeling straw like and brittle. Overall I was asking for a complicated color job, so I understand being confused but I would have appreciated more questions and follow up before dying the whole thing brown again. They also made personal opinions based on what they think I should get because the "layers don't look good that short". To which I was confused because I was paying for the service not their personal style.

Had to wait a bit since Larry was running behind - but he gave me almost an hour of his time. See, I FUBARed my hair last summer when I was ambitious and impulsive and angry at my thick unruly hair... and attempted a very poorly done DIY pony tail cut. Like it looked like a three layer cake. Lots of regret but since I WFH and really let myself go after covid/kids, I never did anything about it until today. Well Larry done fixed it. He did give me a slight lecture (in Chinese so it felt less disappointing) but he smoothed and layered and thined my hair... and then blew dried it and made me all pretty again. Amazing. $55 was more than I expected but I could tell it was a challenge for him.

I have recommended several of my friends and they have also became loyal customers because Larry is just that good. I'm East Asian, my husband is White and the friends that I recommended were Indian and Bi-Racial... so Larry is good with all types of hair. Just show him the picture and he'll do his best. He's extremely skilled with the scissors and is careful to listen to exactly what you want. He's never cut off more than I asked him to. His salon is no frills, he's there to cut your hair, you don't pay extra for ambiance and that's why he doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We've always been more than satisfied. The review by Ariana was just ridiculous. The hairstyle that she asked for is curled, styled and colored. I've had curtain bangs and long layers before and my hair is past my waist. If it's not curled and styled, it's not going to look like a 'curled and styled' picture, which is why her hair looks the way it is... just cut. If you want it curled and styled, you need to pay for that because only a basic blowout is included in a regular wash and cut. Once it's curled and styled, it'll look closer to that picture. Also, why blur out your face? It's visible right on your profile. A lot of hair salons only accept cash, they would have to raise the price if they took credit cards because there are processing fees associated with that. Silly complaints by a one time customer. Larry is great at what he does. He wouldn't be in business for this long if he wasn't.

Never in my life have I felt compelled to leave a negative review - until i visited Randy at All Is…read moreVanity and unknowingly sat while he SUPER GLUED extensions into my hair. I had a consultation with Randy in early August of this year, where we agreed I would be receiving 24" extensions to add length to my hair. When i asked about what technique would be used to install them, Randy insisted that his technique was special and secretive. On August 30th I received cut, color, and extension services from him .But when the service ended it was nothing like what we had agreed on. After 8+ hours of work, my hair was still shoulder length, sloppily cut, and my scalp was in immense pain. Randy put 100+ micro braids into my hair and used SUPERGLUE to hold them in place. After 8 hours of work my hair looked exactly the same as it did upon entering. Randy suggested I could come back the following day to have the service "fixed". When no visible change was made I confronted him and he began to curse me out and threaten to call police on me if i did not pay him $1300 for the failed service. When I showed him that there was no difference from the "before" photo i took before the appointment, he told me I was lying and yelled at me to "get the fuck out". To top all this, Randy ordered hair for me that he insisted was real human hair and charged $500 for. A quick test with a hot iron showed that it was actually synthetic hair, and i was straight-up scammed out of $500. Mere days after the service, I had CHUNKS of extensions falling out of my hair as the glue disintegrated (extensions that Randy told me would last for months). I was forced to quickly find a REAL professional who was forced to use harsh chemicals to soak the literal superglue out of my hair, pick out clumps of glue, and completely re-do the initial "extensions" using a REAL technique - IBE. It is currently November 19th (almost 3 months later) and there are still matted sections of my hair covered in CHUNKS of Superglue because of the 'work' done by Randy Fotia. I have not been able to run a hairbrush through my hair for MONTHS because of this dude. Please run. I cannot stress enough what an absolute hair nightmare i experienced after 1 day in this salon. I trusted all of the amazing reviews only to leave looking like Raggedy Ann. For the love of god do not let this person touch your head. Attached are pictures of my hair and scalp, complete with time stamps to the day of the service at All is Vanity. Before, After, a closeup of superglue / braids on my scalp, and a timestamped photo of the extensions falling out within 2-4 days of the "permanent" extension service i received here. Last pic shows the 22" extensions I ultimately ended up getting installed at a different salon with real, trained professionals. They look nothing like the fake hair that was superglued into my scalp at All Is Vanity salon.
