    This is my hotel of choice when I come to Newark for concerts. It's close to the venue, near the train station, and the rates are decent. I wish the bar did stay open a bit later, but I guess it worked in my favor since I was running on 3 hours of sleep. Overall, if you want a good hotel near the Prudential Center, this one is a great match.

    Everything at the hotel was top notch. Check in process was smooth, the hotel decor is pleasing and our King bed room was decent sized. The room was cleaned each day of our stay and towels etc replaced without asking. This hotel is at a convenient location, about 10 minutes walk from Newark Penn Station from where you can take trains to NYC or around NJ. They also have a shuttle service to and from Newark airport, run every half an hour, which is a great value add for the guests.

    What's definitely good about this Hotel is its location and the aesthetics of it. But the hotel staff is rude!!!! Mainly everyone is Hispanic which is no problem but the lack of communication is bad. I asked for my room to be serviced and I came back in the evening, it wasn't touched. I called downstairs to let them know that it wasn't and was brushed off. So I waited until the am to say something again to front desk and his response was "did you have tag on the door?" I said no and he replied "well I can't clean it". What!!! Next day is checkout and when we arrived we were told that the airport shuttle arrives every 30 minutes. When we go to turn in key cards and checkout we asked will the can be here at 11:30? The same rude man from the previous night said " we don't have a lot of drivers so it'll be every hour". So my friend asked ok so that's at 12 and he pointed his finger at her and said "I said we don't have drivers so it's 12 o'clock. We just walked away and called a Lyft. The rooms are extremely small, more like boutique-ish. The restaurant Dutch is extremely extremely expensive but it's much much around that area to eat at a certain time so I'm guessing that's why it's a surge in price. The air conditioning made noise the entire time and you can hear people above you walking (we were on the 3rd floor). Would I stay here again?? No I would not.

    Avoid this hotel at all costs. I stayed here a few months ago. I settled into my room and, upon pulling back the sheets, found a bedbug on the sheets. See photo. Freaked out, I immediately went to the front desk. They agreed to move me to a new room (it was after midnight at this point, or else I would have left to go somewhere else) but would not provide a refund. All they would offer is a "complimentary breakfast." That evening, and over the next few days, I sent emails to the general manager, Joe Macedo. After several attempts to reach him, I received no response. I elevated these emails to Shah Deen, the executive manager, and similarly received no response. I then reached out to Wyndham Hotels broadly and after some back and forth, was eventually "compensated" with 5000 reward points, which is not even sufficient for a free night's stay (not that I ever would). This issue should have received immediate responses and action. I have to assume I received no responses because it would have triggered a number of burdensome actions on their part that they would rather not have had to worry about. Tough - do you job and keep the hotel operating at a basic level of hygiene. It's one thing if it was just dirty - but thank God I checked the sheets before getting into bed.

    This is really a very beautiful place we are here for a birthday celebration. Just got here the music is amazing the Birthday girl got a happy birthday by a man with a guitar. That was nice I've nearer had someone seeanade me for my birthday

    I found myself staying out here in Newark for a short trip to the NYC area to run a 10 miler out in Bronx. It was my first time staying out in Jersey. Even though it was pretty far away from the Bronx, it was fairly easy to get there using public transportation. The location was really convenient. The Newark Penn Station was only a few blocks away. If you're in the area for an event at the Prudential Center, it's also only a few blocks away. This hotel was located in a decent part of downtown Newark. It got a bit rougher as soon as I got closer to Broad St. There were a lot of food options all within walking distance (e.g. soul food at The Good Eats Experience). The daily rate for this hotel was much more affordable than what I could find for the same weekend over in Manhattan. The hotel was modern looking, clean, and sleek. I found everything in my room to be clean and in good working condition. I would have no problems staying here again if the prices over in NYC are too high again.

    Although it was a short stay, we loved it. The staff was so welcoming. The hotel was very clean and it smelled good! They have a restaurant/bar with yummy food and drinks. The rooms are a little small but the way they have it set-up you won't even notice it. Their modern art throughout the entire hotel makes everything so vibrant! Cannot wait to come back! Highly recommended, reasonable prices.

    I know this review comes super late but wanted to give a shout out to my favorite hotel in my fair city of Newark, NJ. - The Tryp is conveniently located downtown Newark, down the street from Penn Station, wxcellant for commuters. - The rooms are cozy and the bed- omgoodness never slept in a bed so comfortable. The comforter was like sleeping on cloud 9. - The staff is impeccable. Hope everyone I mention here is still working there. Dutch's Restaurant (inside Tryp) Jason- outstanding bartendar with an awesome personality and knows his way around a bar, pours are amazing and his conversation and overall customer service is impeccable. Danny and Valentino- great servers and host. Jad aome good conversations with you guys during my stay. Ty ty for being so hospitable. Tryp Staff and security Margarita, Louis and Chris- Thank you to the front desk staff for basically accommodating my every need! Upon request you guys put everything I asked into activation. The personal touches made the difference between an average stay and an outstanding stay. Kudos to you all for doing your jobs above and beyond.

The fencing and walkway are not maintained, and unhoused people frequented the benches throughout our stay. (This may be a town issue and not a hotel issue, but it definitely hurts the feel of the hotel and the perceived safety when traveling with young kids). The parking is 22 dollars per night and they don't have adequate space for parking. Fire lanes we blocked by rows of cars, people were creating parking spots where non existed blocking the flow of traffic and in some cases blocking parked cars. Very chaotic parking situation especially when you're being charged extra for it. Breakfast during the week days is served at 6 am, for some reason on the weekend it's not until 7. We are here for a travel baseball tournament, if you have an 8 am game you need to be at the field at 7, that means your kid and family miss out on the free breakfast because it didn't start until 7. If they would add a multi level parking garage to accommodate guests and work with whoever they need to address to make the back of the property feel clean and safe along the river this would be a 5 star review.

I was mislead by the reviews as well as the price for parking onsite each day. From checkin to checkout, customer service was blunt, nonchalant, and unwelcoming. Our reward status was not recognized, addresses, or mentioned. Also, when I complained about the cold temperature in both rooms that I booked, my complaints were downplayed, and condescended. My complaints were not addressed and my bill was not comped in any way, despite reporting that the room was cold each day. We were out of the room majority of each day, so we made the best of our trip during the short stay. Again, I do not recommend this hotel. This hotel is a negative reflection of Marriott Bonvoy, and does not value customer service.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD when you stay here, but honestly just don't stay here.

Although I only stayed over on a Monday night even without ever closing the bedroom door it was very quiet. I had a small issue with somehow dropping my phone down into the ice machine (horror) but maintenance was very responsive and quickly got it back for me. Housekeeping was very friendly. Front desk was ok, although I feel like they could have anticipated or understood my question better when I asked about hotel shuttle. They have a sign stating where the shuttle picks up. I asked about it but they just said that it was coreect, so then I made an an attempt to find the location on the sign. When I got back to the elevator and realized it didnt go down or anywhere that might be a level cars would park or etc. I went back and asked where to find the location. They said it was where the shuttle picked up at the airport. Then is said where does it pick up here. They asked when did I need it. I said now. They said ok they would add me to a list. So #1. Why would someone checking out of the hotel need to know where the airport shuttle picks up passengers at the airport. And even if that is useful information, shouldn't it also inform where or what is needed in order to get picked up at hotel. Specifically this would seem important if the check in line was long. #2 He never answered my question about where the shuttle picks up at hotel. Once i realized the shuttle sign was useless, I assumed it picked up outside the doors and it did but this entire exchange made me feel like I was an inconvenience rather than a customer. Cons: breakfast had no flavor. I'm not expecting a lot from a free breakfast but usually the flavorless eggs have cheese or something you can add to the top to give it a little something. The vanilla pancake topped with whip cream and strawberries was ok but again very little flavor. Plus not something I could eat had I been on a hurry or had an early flight out. Other Hampton breakfasts do a little better job. Maybe Monday's are just not busy enough to warrant more.

I was denied extra pillows despite explaining it was due to a medical need (something I've never been denied at any Hilton property before). The room's AC unit was extremely loud, constantly turning on and off throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. When I called the front desk, I was told they were at capacity and there was no one available to address it. The most concerning issue was the airport shuttle. It was overbooked by the hotel, and I was actually asked to let another guest sit in my lap during transport. That's not just uncomfortable--it's unsafe and completely unacceptable. When I contacted the hotel manager afterward to request a refund under Hampton's satisfaction guarantee, I was dismissed, told to "get over it," and the call was ended. I've stayed at Hampton Inns for years and have always had good experiences, which made this especially disappointing. Issues can happen anywhere, but the lack of resolution and professionalism here was the bigger problem.

When a Marriott shuttle showed up, they told us they would not take us to the Courtyard so we had to take a taxi ~ $45. We were here for almost 4 hours. Just long enough to put our feet up for a bit, shower, and change. Lighting in the bathroom and vanity area is brutal. The bed faced the sliding glass door, but we were never there when there was sunlight. The heater made lots of noise when it kicked on. They do provide an airport shuttle every half hour, that was the best part of our stay.

They're awkwardly located in the middle of a circular road, so you can't walk around the area. It's car only really. It was a bummer that this hotel isn't near a bus stop either, so I had to take the airport shuttle to the airport to take the bus from there. The entire hotel is one story. It seems like each room has a patio too. My patio door led straight to the parking lot and had no fenced area, so not gonna lie, it felt a little unsafe having direct access to my room from the parking lot and I had to triple check that the patio door was locked, lest anyone tried to open the patio door. The room is cozy (and yes, a bit dated) with a king bed and round sofa-ish thing. The TV is set up for streaming so I appreciated having the option to just play YouTube videos for background noise and to pass the time until I had to leave for my concert nearby. The hotel also had a decent 24/7 fitness center and plenty of space in the lobby for people to sit and hang out.

When we checked in, I specifically asked if there were more updated rooms, since I assumed the hotel might have renovated sections. The front desk staff member was very kind and helpful, but the first room we were given was in really poor condition--chipped paint everywhere, a bad smell in the bathroom, and visible mold in the vent. It felt neglected and far from clean. We asked to switch rooms and were told the only options were the 10th floor or the 1st floor. Since the 10th floor looked just as worn down, we chose the 1st floor. The staff member did warn us it might be noisy due to the pool and said the pool closed at 8 PM, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, the noise was not from the pool. There was constant yelling, screaming, and doors slamming throughout the night. It felt chaotic and made it very difficult to relax or sleep. The second room was still in rough shape--more chipped paint, run-down finishes, and the towels were dry and rough. At times, the room even smelled like cigarette smoke, likely coming from a nearby room, which was really unpleasant. I do want to note that every staff member we interacted with was extremely kind and professional. This is clearly not a reflection of them--they were doing their best. The issue is the condition of the property itself. Overall, this hotel feels more like a rundown motel with a very nice lobby. I would not recommend staying here unless you are okay with outdated, poorly maintained rooms.

Looks like the room was partly remodeled. The bathroom sink and the bathroom showed the age of this hotel. The room provided the basics and the bed was clean. Room was good enough for one night. On the plus side the hotel offers washing machine and dryers for a fee. Great for travelers who are on the move. Breakfast looked like it was expansive for a Springhill. The breakfast bar offered the standard breakfast items you would expect at the Springhill suites hotels. The breakfast area was too busy for us to enjoy.

There was nothing especially glamorous about the experience, but it never fully spiraled into chaos either. It is the kind of place where you are not falling in love, but you are nodding in approval and saying, alright, you did your part. The staff really carried it though. Friendly. Helpful. Responsive. Easy energy. No attitude. No unnecessary friction. They gave the whole stay a boost and made the experience feel way smoother than the property probably deserves on paper.
