I felt so uncomfortable and was unable to focus on what I needed or wanted because she was letting out her frustrations in front of everyone. Once the manager left Adalia came right over to me. She was so professional, helpful and sweet. I couldn't believe she could just walk away from someone talking down to her for so long and just shake it off but that's exactly what she did. I waited patiently for them to finish for it to be my turn. I wanted to buy a whole new supply of makeup and told the freelance worker this. We had a brief conversation and then the freelance worker told me she'd be right back. After waiting for her a while and I decided to get up from the chair to look at some MAC colors. Do you know when I got up, I saw her fully helping another customer as if I wasn't sitting waiting for her. She wasn't just answering a few questions, she took on another customer while I've been waiting for her, making me wait even longer. And after I had already waited for her when she initially was with the woman. This really upset me, I felt so insulted to be treated with no regard at all, and I was making a big purchase. I was prepared to leave, but not without speaking to a manager first. That's how mad I was. Here's where my review goes from 0 stars to 5 stars. The manager was excellent (I don't know her name but she was super pretty.). She showed up as me and the freelancer actually started to fight. She came into an upsetting and hostile situation and quickly diffused it. She was able to get this situation that had clearly gone off the rails back on track and in a good way. She offered to have an Ulta employee help me with my purchase and sent in J Lynn. J Lynn is really a 10-stars. She was excellent too. Deeply knowledgable about all the brands and about makeup. Her makeup looked beautiful and she had a personality to match. When I tell you she was great, she was great! Focused, efficient, thorough, friendly, patient, sanitary. The products and colors she picked for me were on point and what I ended up purchasing. She was so professional, had great work philosophies (like she believes every customer should have a good experience), was very helpful. And it was very easy, as the client, to work with her. I totally trusted her expertise and she wasn't salesmen-y at all. She understood my budget, money concerns and even time concerns, concluding the sale by the time set. My experience with the freelancer was exactly what I wouldn't want and my experience with J Lynn was exactly what anyone would want shopping at Ulta. What started as horrific and unsalvageable ended not only as a very positive experience but I'm so thoroughly happy with my make up and everything, that I actually decided to make Ulta Millbury my new place for all my makeup needs (no more dept stores.) Based on this outcome, I can't deny Ulta and J Lynn a glowing 5 star review. It's fully deserved, imo.

It's clear she has a handle on different techniques/hair types, and provides useful advice and product recommendations. It's also clear she cares to take the time and effort to make sure her customers are getting what they want, while considering their hair type/color/etc. I have fine hair, but a lot of it, with basically no volume, and Jess has helped me to actually like my hair through her cuts, styling, and product recommendations. She did an amazing balayage on my hair over the summer, which I plan to do again in a few months. The price for the balayage was comparable (or lower) to what I've seen in the area, and certainly less expensive than the Boston area. The price for a haircut was significantly lower than the Boston area and the quality of service and cut is drastically better than I've had at salons near Boston. Pam and Maddy are also so friendly and the atmosphere is always fun and relaxing (such a nice contrast from the snobby or intimidating atmosphere I've experienced at some salons). I went in to Crush Nails in Shrewsbury for a Dazzle Dry pedicure as a last resort last week because…read moreall other spa appointments elsewhere were booked for the time frame I needed. I say last resort because, I had visted Crush Nails several times before when it first opened a few years ago (2022) and stopped going because of inexperienced aestheticians who filed my nails down too far; however, everyone then under the original owner was very welcoming and the spa was beautiful inside, very clean and zen like with herbal teas offered, soaps, jewelry, clothing, etc. They were attentive to making the client feel special and a bit pampered. I really liked the vibe and mindset, but not the inexperienced services (3-4) / raw skin on the tops of my toes from filing down too far. This last visit (June 30, 2025), once I walked in, I knew something was further off as the vibe has totally changed: no tea, more cluttered and disorganized throughout the salon, very few clients (1 aside from myself), a chipped/dirty nail sample board, and lack of communication between client and nail tech. When I chose the color/s I wanted for a dazzle dry pedicure, I was told they didn't have those colors... A manager who had significantly better communication skills came over and tried her best to accommodate my color selection, but the colors just weren't there. At that point, I just wanted to leave and settled for a neutral color that I didn't really like as my 1 hr. appointment had turned into 1 hr 40 minutes and the other issues. (Again, all I had for a service was a standard pedicure w/ Dazzle Dry.) I would also agree with the other reviewers that the chairs were quite uncomfortable. Finally, the nail tech did a great job on the nail prep and massage; however, the application of the polish was not acceptable. (See photos below)

My nails were in rough shape after years of acrylics, which is why I opted for a soft gel option. The tech asked if I wanted to do dip instead. Dip is acrylic. It's just applied differently. I'm not sure why she asked when I expressed that I did not want any acrylic product on my nails anymore. What really disappointed me was that none of the implements used were single use. Nor were any of the implements in any sort of disinfectant. The tech just pulled things out of her drawer to use. As a result of these items being used, I now have an infection in one of my nail beds.
