Unacceptable racial discrimination and salon service failure…read moreI am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Ulta Beauty Salon in Millbury (70 RT-146 S). I went in for a hair dye request on virgin hair re growth and provided clear photos showing that I have successfully achieved this exact shade lighter on my natural hair in the past. Not only did the stylist, Kaylyn, fail to achieve the requested color leaving my hair significantly darker than when I walked in she made an overtly racist statement to justify the result. When I pointed out the mistake, she explicitly claimed that the color was "unachievable" because my "skin color is too dark" and " The girls in the picture are light skin." About ten times in the span of two hours. So basically letting me know I have to be light skin to achieve that color without bleach. She had already bleached my hair after the first attempt of the color not matching to my ends. And she still managed to make my hair darker than what I came in with Wen she explicitly said the bleach bath would even everything out in my hair will be like the picture in which it is clearly not. I have also attached a photo of my hair getting to a lighter tone without any bleach added to it at all my hair is achievable to get light without bleach. Attributing a technical coloring failure to my skin tone is completely unacceptable, deeply offensive, and discriminatory. Skin color does not dictate how hair dye lifts or processes on virgin hair. Blaming a client's race for a stylist's lack of technical skill is unacceptable behavior for any salon professional. I have formally escalated this incident to Ulta Corporate Guest Services and the District Manager for investigation. I strongly urge management to address the conduct and training at this location.

I went in to Crush Nails in Shrewsbury for a Dazzle Dry pedicure as a last resort last week because…read moreall other spa appointments elsewhere were booked for the time frame I needed. I say last resort because, I had visted Crush Nails several times before when it first opened a few years ago (2022) and stopped going because of inexperienced aestheticians who filed my nails down too far; however, everyone then under the original owner was very welcoming and the spa was beautiful inside, very clean and zen like with herbal teas offered, soaps, jewelry, clothing, etc. They were attentive to making the client feel special and a bit pampered. I really liked the vibe and mindset, but not the inexperienced services (3-4) / raw skin on the tops of my toes from filing down too far. This last visit (June 30, 2025), once I walked in, I knew something was further off as the vibe has totally changed: no tea, more cluttered and disorganized throughout the salon, very few clients (1 aside from myself), a chipped/dirty nail sample board, and lack of communication between client and nail tech. When I chose the color/s I wanted for a dazzle dry pedicure, I was told they didn't have those colors... A manager who had significantly better communication skills came over and tried her best to accommodate my color selection, but the colors just weren't there. At that point, I just wanted to leave and settled for a neutral color that I didn't really like as my 1 hr. appointment had turned into 1 hr 40 minutes and the other issues. (Again, all I had for a service was a standard pedicure w/ Dazzle Dry.) I would also agree with the other reviewers that the chairs were quite uncomfortable. Finally, the nail tech did a great job on the nail prep and massage; however, the application of the polish was not acceptable. (See photos below)
