The company does not explain clearly what the fees will be until they show up at your house. They also do not tell you that they only accept one form of payment when the person shows up at the your house. They only accept Zelle. When they want payment, they call you every day. But when I called back to request an update on the status of my delivery my calls were ignored. I spent 2 weeks without sleeping thinking all my stuff got stolen. Until one day I got random text about delivery. Highly unprofessional. Lastly they kept charging "a plan fee" to my credit credit 2 months after I made all payments to them. Midland Van Lines is the worst company I have ever worked with. I just graduated college and started a graduate program across the country. I had to move from Chicago IL to Richmond VA, alone, and after experiencing severe mental trauma, I decided handling it myself was too much and hired a moving company. I chose Midland because I saw on a website that they were family owned and veteran owned, two very important things to me. We discussed terms, and were off to the races. After picking up my items on July 28, I had a guaranteed delivery date, as per our contract, of August 5. Two days before delivery I said all my goodbyes, got in my car and took off for my new life adventure. When I got to Richmond, what did I find? NOTHING. After calling many times, I finally spoke to Dominique at Midland, and found she was INCREDIBLY rude and patronizing. I was told that my guaranteed delivery date was a typo, despite being signed by both the company driver and myself, and they would not honor it. Two WEEKS after, and calling them nearly every day, I was told my lifelong belongings were due to be delivered on either August 27 or 28. My mother booked a $900 flight on short notice, as since my classes have started I cannot be present to receive my belongings, and flew out to Richmond. I am now writing this review, the night of August 28, after being told my items never even made it into transit, and are still a week out from scheduled delivery. I have NO WORDS to express how furious I am. I moved across the country to forge a new path, and was made a fool by trusting this malicious, manipulative company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I was given incorrect information from the beginning of this process in June, all the way to the very end in November. This company is completely incompetent in doing anything correctly. This entire thing was a headache. I could rarely get ahold of people. I dealt with Caleb, Gary, Thalia, and Frank. It would take multiple calls, emails, and texts to each person to even get a response days later. Eli, the foreman was nasty and aggressive when he arrived. He added $1k onto my price with cubic feet AND packing supplies which I had already provided. When I spoke with Frank at customer service to see why it was so much he kept talking over me rudely and repeating to me to read my contract and the fine print. He also kept asking me why I signed if I didn't understand correctly. Eli asked me when I want the items to arrive. I said Friday 11/8, but then I also mentioned how I thought it takes up to 14 days. He said "No, I will get it there on this date." When Friday came, I called customer service and was advised my items were in storage until 11/8 and how it takes 14 days from that date to arrive. I asked why I was told something else and he had nothing to say. When we finally got our items, we were charged an extra $16, even though we already paid during the first pickup. I understand it's only $16, but it's principle that this company will take and take and take any chance they get. They didn't communicate it was already handled with Eli. The driver wouldn't start until we paid it and no one from midland vans was answering numerous phone call attempts. Moving is stressful to begin with, and moving out of state is even worse. I highly recommend you do NOT use Midland Van Lines, it's a complete crock, ran by crooks. They aren't a moving company-they are a broker who sub out to others drivers, they do not own their own vans or have their own truck drivers. They claim they aren't brokers, but they 100% are. Absolutely terrible experience! Started great with a quote of $2,600 for my small apartment. Once deposit was paid a mover showed up, just 1!!! I had to help take apart and load furniture. After everything was loaded and truck was about to leave they doubled the price on me. They then proceeded to take 2 months to drop off my furniture at my new plane. They then upped the price an additional $400 because the truck could not get in my complex. They also outsourced the delivery team which I was told they did not do. The estimator gave me an estimate based on several (accurate) photos of the items to be packed and shipped. The day the packers arrived the almost doubled the price. Then they actually forgot to pack some of the items. It has been 2 weeks and we still have not received the items they forgot and they had to go back for. The day they delivered the items they did pack, they one reassembled the bed, and did a partial job, using the mattress to cover up the fact that they did not secure the support slats under the mattress. If you are considering using Midland Van Lines for any move, we strongly suggest you turn and run away from them as fast as you can. We used them for a move from New Jersey to Vermont and it was one of our worst experiences in dealing with any company. The Midland personnel we spoke with were untruthful, misleading, unresponsive and very unprofessional. It was like after they got our initial down payments, they no longer wanted to deal with us. When we talked with the salesperson, he left the impression we would be dealing with Midland movers with Midland trucks. When the mover came to our house, he was driving a Penske Rental Truck. We were initially given a pickup time of between 8AM - 10AM for the arrival of the truck. The truck arrived at 5PM, with no explanation why they were late. One of his first comments to us was that he would need $700 because the square footage in the contact was less than what he calibrated after he saw what was being moved. I refused to pay. He then wanted me to pay money because of the distance he had to walk from my house to his truck. I again refused to pay. He finally moved the stuff to the truck. When the truck arrived in Vermont, it, again, was not a Midland truck. It turned out the driver was from an entirely different company. Midland did not mention this to us during any of our conversations. I had to adjust my Zelle account to include the company name in order to pay the balance so that he would unpack our stuff. As we went through our stuff, we noticed that our queen size mattress that was inside a waterproof storage bag was entirely wet. It was as if the bag was opened, and the mattress was rained on. It was very rainy during the moving period. We had to discard the mattress and purchase a new one. We attempted to contact Midland to voice our concerns, but again, no response. So, if our experience means anything, we strongly suggest you investigate another mover other than Midland Van Lines. DO NOT HIRE THIS CROOKED COMPANY! I was assured my interstate move unload would have 24-48 hour notice (to schedule freight elevators) with a final payment installment by Venmo. A rude dispatcher called with less than 24 hours notice to inform me my building did not allow 18 wheeler trucks (per posted sign) and that I would have to pay additional fees; and that they did not accept any form of payment except cash or post office money order. The dispatcher would not listen to my building management instructions on where to park and hung up. I sent pictures later of the loading zone with no response. The truck showed up 2 hours late for it's 3 hour unload and elevator permitted time. The same rude dispatcher stated that without a payment in cash or money order I had to come up with immediately. He stated they don't accept anything else and he can't contact the office as it was Chabat (sic?). He said they were leaving and I would be forced to pay very expensive fees to get my possessions back and deal with the office Monday. He hung up again on me. An hour later, the truck driver texted he had the Venmo payment info and would like to talk. Coincidentally, another rude man called to state that they were ready to unload and I was not accepting the delivery....although they had now missed their window to access a freight elevator. He rudely hung up before i could state I would check with building management on accessing the freight elevator. Next a rude woman called and asked to hear what was going on. She felt nothing was wrong (refused to apology for dispatchers) and stated they don't accept Venmo but do accept Zelle. She provided her Zelle email but it did not match the company name. The driver provided even another Zelle account with a different company name and it worked. Payment was made. Driver had a problem with English which made it hard to direct him where to park. Also, he stated it would cost an additional $200 to do the job as he had to wait 20 minutes for the freight elevator to be freed specially for them. The moving company was supposed to supply 3 people to unload, they had only 2 that didn't speak much English. The unload (for a 2 bedroom apartment) took over 5 hours. Every box marked fragile was crushed and had broken items. A down couch was damaged. Crystal vase broken. Freshly painted walls marred. Door way frame damaged. After they loaded my stuff on the truck, the driver informed me the actual cost would be 55% higher, 44% on 'volume' and 890% higher on packing materials. Then he asked for a check for $5,300 to continue the move. At that point you have no choice. They never returned my calls or emails as I tried to figure out the discrepancies. I told him the down payment of $5900 and he said have the bank help you get that back and they did. If you write a check or a money order there is nothing they can do. Even the packing package went from 511.00 to 700.00! They had possession of our stuff showing up a day earlier then we requested (oh but in the contract it's a 3 day window) they actual start date of when they start the 5-21 day delivery time begins from the time we can actually take the delivery. ( Had to wait to receive apartment keys) so that took up a whole extra week without my stuff. Oh of course it "says in the contract". Arrival day was so so, they first went to a wrong address which delayed arrival. Items arrived in good condition except one piece was broken. They did change me an additional 450.00 because they had to use a smaller truck to fit. So my 3254.00 quote turned out to be over $7000.00. So much for a top rated moving company!! Couldn't get anyone to respond to my VM's and emails for scheduling the move in. Got a text from someone that wouldn't talk to me because he didn't speak good english and had to use a translator on a Sunday almost 2 weeks later saying he will be there in the hour. I said we have to schedule with the property. Worked it out to deliver on Tuesday. Midland then contact me to charge me for the extra storage days. On Tuesday the texter shows up with no help. Just him, and says he wants the final third payment in cash otherwise he is going to drive off. Says don't pay Midland as if you do they will not pay me. Talked to Midland and they said don't pay him (even though the contract says to pay him on arrival). Says pay us directly and then we will let him know to start the move. I said we need more guys. Midland says we will get more guys after you pay us. Driver days I am driving off if you pay them. We found a random guy and hired him to help. Paid the driver and then moved. We owe them $2500 via wire transfer for service. Upon completion, they inform us, "if we want our belongings to arrive safely and on time, we owe a 20% tip, $2500, to them via Zelle. Two days before arrival at our new home, our driver from AJ Express Inc (vendor) calls. They will not be able to get their truck in our driveway. We owe them $2500 for delivery via wire transfer. If we do not pay the $2500, we must unload their truck & move our belongings ourselves. The night before delivery AJ Express Inc demands full payment via Zelle. They arrive at our home and demand $2500 to unload our belongings off their truck. Our items are damaged / broken. Devastating. Midland Van Lines uses Carrier Global Inc to transport cars. A man arrives to pick up our truck with his own Ford Explorer and Home Depot trailer. His wife communicates with us, angrily, when we ask for written documentation of transport. They refuse. They deliver our vehicle at midnight and were aggressive when we were not available. Midland/Carrier offered no help. All payments were made to the personal Venmo of the wife of driver. Rapid Auto Group LLC transports my Lexus SUV. My Lexus is lost with no communication from the driver or Carrier Global. We are filing a police report to report my Lexus as stolen. read more

I called the company and after going back and forth with management and repeatedly being told that my order was small and they didn't need my money they agreed to drop off my belongings at a storage facility less than 3 miles away. The driver wouldn't unload my belongings until I signed his paperwork. Once he had my signature and started to unload several of my boxes and belongings were damaged. They claim they have "white glove pickup and delivery" but that is not the case. One of my boxes had clearly been opened during transit and one was blatantly re-boxed. I had to help the driver carry my king size mattress because he didn't have another person with him. Then they wanted me to pay a dollar for every foot the driver had to walk from the truck to the storage unit because he wouldn't pull into the storage facility. He would only accept cash or Zelle. I tried to get in contact with management about my damaged items but they haven't responded. This company had my address for months and showed total incompetence after items were picked up but once they have your items you're pretty much at their mercy. They are a big ripp off!! doubled the price after showing up 3 days late and the day before my closing. My jewlery box was packed upside down, they dumped an ashtray in top of one of my boxes. alot of brokien items. damaged artwork. tried to make me sign papers that did not apply costing me more money. 8k bistro set destroyed missing a chair that cost 3k and they want to compesate me $175.00 total FUCK THEM Im desputing paying them on my credit card!! read more

Terrible communication. Wait 30 days before delivery. 65in tv broke. Mirrior broke. dining room table broke. all boxes are smooshed. a few boxes missing. won't answer the phone when I call. half of my boxes were wet. DONT USE!!! Do it yourself and save the money. They double the cost of what I was quoted. also they never told me I could get a virtual estimate. read more
