We were wanting to get pedicures before baseball started so I looked at this place because it was close to our hotel and because of the reviews. They were able to accommodate us with the time we had available, which was very nice. Everything was very clean, and we were in and out within an hour. The person that handled my pedicure was nice, provided a great massage experience, and painted my nails perfectly. We were seated in the pedicure chair on time as well. They act like they're too important to explain anything, and they clearly think they can charge whatever they want without giving you clarity. Giving 4 stars because the young gentleman that I've seen twice has been very gentle during the pedicure. A woman did the manicure and it was very quick and chipped the next day. The owner tried to get me to do the gel for an upcharge of $15 per service but I declined on fingers but did so on my toes. If the regular polish won't last 2 days, then it shouldn't be an option. I got 10% off for being a returning customer but they did not discount the credit card fee even though I paid cash. read more

Decide to spring and get my toes done. Seeing my high school sweetheart for the first time since 2009. Got two pedicures mine and a friend. Paid extra for gel for us both so the paint lasts longer. It has been one week and half of my toes have no paint what so ever. I Called and the owner and he offered to repaint them the next day for free. I told him I didn't get off til 6 and he said that was fine just come on by. So the next day I come on by! Now this is where things get terrible. I show up after work today. I arrived at 6:10. They close at 6:30 but the owner told me to swing by when I'm off at 6, So I did and NO ONE is there. They closed early. I called and he answered and arughed with me for 30 minutes about how I should have called first and they closed early because they were slow. Like I didn't just talk to him yesterday. And I told him I was off at 6. Not only did it not get fixed. But he told me to go somewhere else and get them repainted. THEN he said if I send him a picture of the receipt he will venmo me the amount. This is the worst experience and worst pedicure I've ever had! I will be making a dispute with my bank. And as a customers of 7 years, I WILL NEVER give them another try. read more

I normally go to a nail salon in the Jordan Creek area but I was over in the Grimes/Johnston area so I Googled for one closer to me. I stumbled upon Truly Nails and figured I would give it a shot. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to see a really nice looking place. They had plenty of nail tables and pedicure massage chairs. I have found that a lot of the nail salons around the Des Moines area are outdated and look dirty. Not this place! I did have a little bit of a wait for a pedicure but that was fine as I was not in a hurry. You might want to make an appointment if you are in a hurry. The lady that did my pedicure was very good and meticulous. She gave a wonderful massage and my toes look great! They also have a light drying table. All of the other places I have been around Des Moines have a light/blow dryer thing (what I consider to be strange) and they are always sooo dusty. Their light table was clean and quiet! Why only 4 stars then? They are very pressuring to try and get you to do other services. I was repeatedly asked to get a manicure and each time told them no thank you but they kept trying. I do not like being asked again and again after saying no the first time. Well worth the short wait for a great pedicure! read more

customer service was horrible. the two young girls working were preoccupied on their phones the entire time. no one spoke a word to me until they told me how much it was. not a word after they cut my cuticle so bad that it's still bleeding 2 hours later. The girl doing my nails then asked the other girl to finish, then the first girl got on her phone and the second kept yelling at the first girl to get the alcohol spray to help stop the bleeding. place needs a good cleaning too. read more

Something is wrong here. First they say you "don't pay tax if paying with cash, but you pay tax with a card". It should be "you don't pay a credit card service fee if paying with cash". So I gave them a gift certificate and the rest in cash. They said with the gift certificate I'd have to pay tax because they wouldn't know if the original purchaser used cash or a card. I said that made no sense whatsoever. Finally she said "if you don't want to pay it fine" and walked away. Seems very suspicious to me. There are so many other nail salons, don't go here unless you like paying extra for no reason other than to illegally line their pockets. read more

worst experience ever! I took a friend's daughter with me for a bit of girl time while my husband was at the movies. We said what we wanted, picked our colors and sat down in the chair for our pedis. the two ladies went to work and our pedicures went well. I sat down for my manicure first, when the friends daughter was done she came to sit near me but was redirected to another table. the manicures started out fine until the ladies all started arguing. it was very apparent by the hand gestures one of the ladies was making she didn't feel the women doing our manicures should be doing them. the argument went on for a good 20 minutes if not more. after a bit one of the ladies, who appeared to be in charge but was also the one doing most of the yelling apologized for their chatter. I didn't say anything back. after we paid I apologized to my friends daughter for what happened. she said she never felt so uncomfortable...that should mean something coming from a teenager! I had my nails done here 15 days ago. My nails STILL look perfect (I got the gel manicure). They were super nice, letting me change my mind on colors after they started, making sure my friends and I could stay together so we could chat while we got our nails done and fixing my friend's pedicure when she accidentally smudged one of her toes. They have always done a nice job with the pedicures I've had there. My complaint is that I made an appointment for my adult daughter and I to have our Pedicures done. I asked for 10:00 and she asked if we could come at 9:30. I said ok, and when we got there another lady had just walked in to ask for a pedicure and she said she didn't make an appointment so we should go ahead of her. Well, they started on me right away but not my daughter. They let my daughter soak while they worked on the other lady. It was poor customer service. It's great when they give a massage while your under the dryer for a pedicure, but that's hit or miss too. In the past when I've gone there, they've asked 'did you make appointment (while they're working on me)?' so I figured it would be a good idea to do that. If they would pay attention to who made appointments and service those people first, I would have given them 5 stars. read more

Had to laugh when I read the other reviews! I've been to Truly Nails just a couple of times and they DO try to get you to do more services! They dont take 'no' for an answer. I wasnt overly impressed with my pedicure. It was not a very relaxing environment between the constant asking about more services and listening to the guy cut down the women. I'm not sure what he was saying to them, but you could tell by the tone and the looks on their faces that he was not saying anything too nice. Just didnt care for him at all. read more

I have asked how long she said 5 minutes it had been 10 minutes I asked again and reminded that we had appointment they said sorry and came over within minutes. They acted like they didnt even know. I called two days ahead for four pedicures. When scheduling the appointment, they stated that they had time for all four of us at the same time. When we arrived, we were asked to wait a moment while they got things ready. After a 15 minute wait, they started two of us soaking. After an additional 15 minutes the other two were allowed to start soaking. We then waited in the chairs, with our feet soaking in cold water for 35 minutes!
