I have now sat in Shasta's chair twice -- she is pleasant, knowledgeable, and knows how to color hair (especially if you're in your 40's and still want beautiful blonde hair like me!). She artfully eliminates any brassy tones and will hand paint the blonde where you need it. Through the balayage technique she has added beautiful depth with multiple shades of blonde and I could not be happier. Thank you Shasta!

I had S as a hairdresser and was discounted from the very beginning in her belief in her ability to deliver what I wanted (ombré on chin length hair). She instead said my hair was too short and suggested some subtle highlights. I wanted something drastic and fun, which the highlights were not. I asked her to put some more brighter blonde in to blend with the highlights she put in to attempt the ombré effect. I left with white blonde streaks that were in no way branded and were randomly throughout my head. I also left with a wet head be fixing the mistake ran into her other appointment. I got home and hated it, I called the next day and spoke with the receptionist expressing my disappointment, but was told that the hairstylists are independent and are not managed by the salon. I left a message with my phone number. S called me back and expressed that she thought the lighter highlights were a bad idea and that my hair was too short for what I wanted (I've seen pixies with ombré) and that she hoped I was able to find Sonoran that could give me what I wanted. I asked her if it would be ok to dye it red or brown and she suggested red because of the stripped hair and how it would take on the brown. She never made an offer to have me back in to fix her mistakes or to make me happy. I was also disappointed that the salon does not have any procedures to rectify unhappy customers.

She's exceptional at what she does and genuinely one of the kindest people you'll meet. My haircut is fairly simple, but I've seen firsthand the work she does with women's hair through several close friends who go to her, and she is incredibly talented -- precise, consistent, and thoughtful in her approach. You can tell she truly cares about her clients and takes real pride in her craft. She's also great at consulting with me on the right products, personalized specifically for my hair and skin. Their brand new location in the Atlas Building in West Des Moines is stunning. The space is beautifully designed -- elegant, refined, and thoughtfully done while still feeling welcoming and comfortable. It's conveniently located, easy to access, and truly elevates the entire experience. The team is always professional and welcoming, and the level of service is consistently top tier. I also appreciate that they've expanded their services beyond what was offered at the West Glen location -- it really feels like a full-service destination now. Another big plus is their use of Aveda products. They're excellent for sensitive skin, made with naturally derived ingredients, and the brand is known for environmentally responsible practices and more sustainable packaging. I personally purchase both Aveda hair and skincare products from Serenity, and they always have a great selection in stock. Serenity continues to set a high standard for quality, service, and overall experience. Highly recommend.
