As much as I hate giving a 1 star review, we most certainly had a 1 star dining experience. The fact that the place was very slow on a Friday night during prime hours should have been our queue to try something else but my wife was dead set on going here. To start, we noticed how slow their service was and how their staff's urgency was almost non existent. Our bartender was very quirky but also very nice. We ordered nachos to share and each got 1 overpriced taco each. we both also tried mixed cocktails. Mine smelled and tasted like bandaids... idk why i knew what those taste like or maybe my imagination led me to that. My wife got the margarita flight ($20) for 3 tiny pre mixed margaritas. Both of us did not like our drinks. The food was fine, the nachos lacked depth but were edible. The tacos were not good at all, hers (fish) had very little fish and the taco was very small and didn't taste like much. My Brussel sprout taco was also very small and VERY salty. Neither of us finished our tacos. The one thing i did really enjoy was their salsa that I had to ask for with the nachos, that I was also charged for. Ultimately we spent $70-$80 on a tiny meal we didn't like at all. I have no intention to return and would suggest you explore the amazing options around beloit before landing here. read more

Stopped in a gorgeous day Windows were open and it was a lovely setting to have a meal with friends. I got the sunrise flight and they were honestly all delicious. Love that it was a unique drink offering. And the tacos were phenomenal. Only downside was my favorite was a daily special so I can't go back for it. We came on a very busy day. Our waitress was great but after waiting 40 minutes for our food, we are told that they are out of rice for our rice bowls. We waited another 10 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered 3 tacos. They were out of one of the tacos that I ordered so they replaced it with a different one without telling me. All the tacos were cold from sitting out for 40 minutes. The manager didn't come to our table until we asked to speak to her. Not a bad Americanized taco spot. I really liked the fish tacos with the coleslaw and the chicken was just as good. 3 for $16 isn't bad considering the ambiance and location of the place. Nasty dirty place!! So gross, these bugs are everywhere. We sat at the bar and they were flying above our heads and climbing on the food. You don't get this many gnats overnight. We went on cinco de mayo to get the margarita flights, the coconut margaritas tasted pretty bad but was worse was when we noticed some dead gnats in our drinks. I then noticed that there were actually quite a few gnats flying around the lights, so it doesn't surprise me that 2 out of three of us in the group had gnats in our margaritas. Restaurant was clean. The tacos were creative but pretty bland in taste. I am from California so Ive had my fair share of tacos. The meat/fish/shrimp is not seasoned or cooked with seasoning. I've been here a few times over the past 5 years or so and I really want to love this place. I'll start with what they do great: their service has always been friendly, attentive, and very helpful. The atmosphere is awesome too! Modern, trendy, and even has some see-through garage doors that open up in the warmer months for some great semi-outdoor dining. Just a super cool location and makes for a great experience. The food is pretty good. Not my favorite taco place ever, but there are some winners here, especially the fish tacos. I got the Korean bbq (too sweet for me and drowning in too much sauce) and al pastor (pretty good) but the fish were definitely my favorite. Super tasty. That being said, each taco is $5+ which I thought was steep for how small the tacos are. We came here for lunch one day and each got 3 tacos, paid $16 each, it came with no sides, and we were hungry again in a couple hours. I would have loved to see them be a little cheaper, or come with some rice and beans or other small side at that price point. read more

Trukt is always great, never missed yet! I've been begging my friends to go to their Boozy Brunch since I'm from FL and we have the best brunches! Finally went today and while the vibe wasn't much everything else was great. Ordered a hard iced coffee & mimosa flight - absolutely delicious! Every time I order the guacamole with spicy pineapple & pepitas - best guac in town! Then I got the breakfast quesadilla and it was HUGE but SO good. A decent little spot in Beloit with a unique menu. I came out here during a farmers market which had a good amount of foot traffic. The place opens up really well through its garage door walls, and it is a good little spot to get a drink while strolling the streets. General Observations: --Prices were a little higher, but not ridiculous. Creative drinks and carries New Glarus --The menu was different but not stand out. Its a good shift away from typical bar food, but I have to be in the mood for it --Not the kind of place I would take kids. Too much of a bar --Service tends to suffer a bit. This place can be chaotic. Bottom Line: Would return, but not my first stop. Again its more of a "in the mood spot" for me as it just isn't my scene. read more

I had high hopes for this place based off of a recommendation from the site I was working at. As a traveler I depend on these and app reviews. Sadly it was a miss. Maybe it was because I came in 2 hours before close? Idk. They were pretty empty and i just sat at the bar. First off My drink order got a little screwed up, but there was also a homeless man being a little aggressive during this time, so I gave it a pass. Then came the guacamole.... About 1/4th of it was brown. I understand how avocados work & this is something that happens, but did ya not see it when putting the dressings on that clearly sat around a while? At least try to hide it. But still, it wasn't terrible. The flavor was ok. And then came my street tacos. I tried 2 ala cart and well, they were both very cold. We have driven through Beloit over and over, often wondering whether there was a downtown to experience. Don't sleep on this town and definitely not on this restaurant. What can you expect? Very creative tacos, excellent salsa and top-notch margs. How will you feel? Welcomed by the staff and appreciated for coming by to dine with them. Our server, Tessa was first rate. What is it like? Perhaps the most lively and interactive indoor/outdoor space we've been to. This was an all-around great experience where the cliché statement of "we will be back" is truthfully meant. We were out for an early dinner before a comedy show and were seated right away without a reservation on a Saturday. They took us to the back dining area where we had never been before. We didn't even know they had a back room. We had chips and salsa, street tacos and a burrito bowl. Everything was really good! I also had their signature margarita. Loved it! I've been here two times while visiting my Midwest family - the first time was for some drinks with my sister and the second time was recently with my sister, her husband, and some friends. It's a pretty cool spot, with nice furnishing inside and some cool lighting. They have TVs everywhere so you can watch some sports there, too. We came on a Saturday night, coming directly from Ironworks Golf Lab, and decided to have our late(ish) dinner here. Just looking at their selection, it looks to be a fusion style since a couple of their tacos were Asian-flavored. I ordered the Korean BBQ, Short Rib, Pork Al Pastor, and Pork Belly. We also ordered some guac and chips with some mango salsa on the side. The guac needed some more salt so we asked the server for some salt since there was none at the table. We never got it. We also asked for more chips, but we never got that either. When we got the tacos, we asked for some salsa on the side, but we were hungry so we started eating without it anyway. The salsa never came. The tacos were not remarkable. It was basically marinated meats wrapped in a tortilla. Overall, the service wasn't great, and the food was just okay. read more

Extremely Disappointed - Will Not Return I've been to Truk't a few times as a local and had high hopes bringing friends from out of town for my birthday. Unfortunately, this experience was awful from start to finish. Our group of 8 was told a 25-30 min wait, which was fine. Once seated, it took over 45 minutes just to get water--only after asking twice. Appetizers arrived with no silverware, plates, or napkins, and we had to flag down our server just to place our food order. Then it took another hour to get our meals. Only 6 dishes were ordered, and most came out cold and incorrect, with the server unsure who ordered what. When we asked for help, the manager approached with an extremely rude attitude, used profanity, refused to fix or comp anything, then suddenly yelled at us to leave. As we were gathering our things, one friend took a single bite of her food, and the manager came back, snatched the plates, and threatened to call the police. Later that evening at a nearby bar, a bartender from Truk't approached my fiancé, yelled at him, and threatened to "punch him in the throat" for standing up to the manager. I've worked in the service industry, and my fiancé was a food service manager for years--this is not how guests should be treated. Truk't seriously needs to reevaluate its management and staff professionalism. Absolutely unacceptable experience. We won't be returning. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

We love Truk't and visit there at least once every time we're at an event at Blackhawk Farms Raceway- where my bf's club sponsors & supports events. The food is great. Simple menu with options for various appetites and tastes. Also easy to moderate how much to eat with their excellent taco menu. Reasonable prices and fabulous cocktails. The smoked Manhattan and cilantro cucumber margaritas are my favorites! In nice weather they can open up the space on the outdoors, and the main interior is visually appealing and casually comfortable. My only complaint has been that they don't take reservations, but they're pretty easy to just call up and ask about timing/crowding with no problems. We consider ourselves regulars here. read more

First off, Truk'd is not a Mexican restaurant. It's more of a boujee taco joint. Chips and salsa are not good (I actually think they are store bought) and not free. I made the mistake of trying their featured oyster tacos, which were terrible. Each taco contains 4 tiny pieces of crunchy breading with literally no sign of oyster. Besides that, the only other ingredient was some very runny salsa. We dined around 7, so the place was already emptying out, yet we had repeated issues with our server not taking our order or bringing drinks out in a timely fashion. After I ordered a second margarita, it took 15 minutes and multiple requests and gestures to my empty glass before I finally received my drink. read more

If I could give zero stars I truly would. I have never left a review anywhere and I would consider myself to be pretty understanding when it comes to the food industry as I've had multiple jobs working as a server and bartender but my experience here was absolutely unacceptable. We came in last night with 8 people, granted it is a decent amount of people for a table. They had a 25 minute wait which we were fine with. Once we were able to get a table and sit down we all ordered waters and some of us got a few other drinks. We also ordered a couple apps right off the bat. It took 45mins to an hour to get the waters after we had to ask where they were. The server proceeded to say they were so busy they were out of their water glasses. Okay but we were never told that and had to ask why we weren't getting them. It took about 45 mins for us to get that apps which were pretty good but had no silverware and napkins and the busser cleaning the table noticed we needed some and got us them (she was more acknowledging than our server). We had to flag our server down to finally put our food order in. 7/8 of us ordered food and 2 people were sharing so 6 orders of food. It's going on almost an hour of not getting our food. Our server comes over and tells us it's going to be another 20 mins and we are very upset. She said she would get a manager and we agreed The manager comes over with an attitude already. This lady should be fired from being a manager anywhere. She clearly lacks customer service, how to make things right and making sure her guests not only have good service but a good experience as well but I believe she's tanking that for this restaurant...she proceeds to tells how busy it is and busy it's been that night and it's the busiest they've been this season. I completely understand that but when we were told another 20mins on our food there was at least 6-8 tables open and the bar had openings. Certainly not too busy at that time. We asked to get some comps and said she "can't comp the food but can comp the apps and drinks" we agreed. Not even 5 minutes later somehow our food is out even though they said another 20 mins. Our server had no idea what the food was that she was serving and messed everyone's orders up. I got 3 steak tacos nothing fancy...it's cold. Not even lukewarm completely cold. I am not one to make a big deal on things but at that point it was just ridiculous. We got the manager over again because almost everyone's food was cold. We told her and she proceeds to tell us all the excuses in the world once again that we're so busy and our kitchen can't keep up. Again...it's not busy at this time and there's no other big tables. We tell her we're not paying for this and she told us she would not comp it or even tried to offer any redos for our food. None of us are looking for handouts. We had every intention in paying for our food but this is something that does not deserve to be paid for unfortunately. She walked away and just kinda yells at us saying we will comp everything and you guys can leave. We were just talking about the situation and some people did proceed to eat their food. A few minutes later I see out of the corner of my eye someone's plate being taken...she takes everyone's plates mind you people are mid bite in their food and she says you guys can leave or I will call the cops. As if we're the ones who did any wrong here... Not to mentions the two lady's next to us were also having the same issues with the server hardly coming over and their food being cold. And they said they will not comp anything for them. After this experience I would never recommend anyone to come here. They need to get new management who actually cares about what they're doing and cares about the people they are serving. Times are tough and sometimes people can only afford to go out once in a while so we look forward to it and they completely ruined that. read more

Short, sweet, and honest review of Truk't in Beloit. I have been here multiple times receiving consistently good service and tasty food. The prices are high but not for the area. (Downtown Beloit is always a pricey spot but usually worth it for the quality and experience) Nachos are a personal favorite. We've tried to eat here 3 times over the course of 3 months, but due to the service have had to walk out 3 times. It was not busy during any of our visits (less than half full each time) This past Thursday early evening we actually got closer to dining and we're seated with menus, but had to leave later after a long wait. In each of our visits it appeared there was staff around but they were at other stations where maybe more staff or better coverage plan may help. Excellent overall. There was no wait and our server was very attentive. Everyone was friendly and had great attitudes. The food was on point. Everyone enjoyed their meals. One minor hiccup but nothing serious. My nachos were done well and constructed in layers so I didn't have an orphaned pile of dry chips and no toppings at the bottom. Their toppings were well thought out. A little more generosity would have been better but still good. The cost was reasonable and the restaurant was exceptionally clean. We enjoyed the atmosphere. When it comes to street tacos, Truk't does it right. The whole vibe of this restaurant is a great atmosphere to hang out with friends or to go on a date. When it's warmer, they even open up the garage doors surrounding the dining room to bring in the outside aroma. The service is great, their bar makes fantastic drinks, and the tacos, while a tad on the more expensive side, are delicious. Truk't allows you to pair 3 to 4 tacos from their menu, and I usually will go for the surf and turf, chicken tinga, and short rib. All have a great taste. I recommend getting the nachos as an appetizer, as it is hard to fill up solely on the tacos--in my opinion. The nachos are perfect and exactly what I expected from a taste standpoint; they're also great to share while socializing at the table with a few drinks. read more
