I had TruGreen, and I trusted them but I've been working from home since Covid. I saw the technicians come and go and did not do anything to my lawn and drove off. I called and complained several times. Since I have a corner home I had technicians do one side of my property and left. I was so mad because all of the previous money I paid was no at home and they did this is unacceptable. My bushes died and I paid all that money to have them treated by them and they killed my bushes. So now I hired someone privately to do my property. Be AWARE read more

Terrible Service - Avoid This Company I prepaid $1,650 for a 12-month package that included lawn seeding and mosquito treatment for both the front and back yard. From the start, the service was disappointing. The seeding was only done on half of the front yard, even though I paid for the entire front yard. Every time the mosquito service came, they only sprayed the front yard. I had to call them every time to come back and do the back yard, which they were supposed to do in the first place. One time, I called to follow up, and they claimed the technician was "in front of my house"--but I was on the front porch with my kids and no one was there. Completely dishonest. Overall, this company does not deliver quality work. You'll end up chasing them to get the job done correctly. I do not recommend them to anyone. read more

We contracted and pre-paid for seven treatments plus an aeration and over-seeding of our 42K sq ft lawn in early 2025. During all of the visits, technicians missed large swaths of the lawn. It was clear looking at the weeds that half the lawn was untreated. The next technician to visit for a subsequent treatment, or to handle a call back complaint agreed the lawn wasn't treated, apologized, and said he'd make a note. But with a new technician coming for nearly every treatment, there was no continuity among the staff. Email, text, and phone calls all route to different people, none of whom are local to our area. Customer support would make a promise, but the tech that arrived knew nothing about it. The worst part is the $1600 aeration and over-seeding only reached about half of the yard. We contacted TruGreen to complain and TruGreen sent someone to finish the job, but it was too dry. The tech said they would return when the weather was better. We requested a fall 2026 aeration and over-seeding, not a spring 2026 one. In April 2026 we found out that TruGreen closed the account and had no intention of returning here. They have stolen $1600 from us. Other Yelp reviews suggest we are not alone suffering from poor service, terrible customer support, and shoddy work. This used to be a good company, but not any more. Avoid them at all cost. read more

Though I threatened to cancel my TruGreen service in the past, I never did. Just lazy and also wish I didn't have to deal with this nonsense. So I spend $88 a treatment for whatever it is....weed control, fertilizer, etc. If it works, which it does for the most part, I have no problem with this amount of money. My most recent visit was 7/18/24 for fertilizer via spreader. I was shocked that he spent all of 5 minutes performing the service, Then back to his truck where he spent more time sitting there than in my yard. I walked the yard after he left and found that clearly a third of my front lawn wasn't done. And NONE of the back. What the hell!? Then on his service ticket, it's stated that he did the 'Entire area' and used 25 lbs of material. Oh please. I bet he used more like 5 lbs and how can he do the 'entire area' when he never set foot in my back yard!? TruGreen is a habit I need to quit. And evidenced by the terrible reviews I'm reading from others, I am not alone. And I also emailed TruGreen directly with my complaints. I'll see if anything comes from either this or my email. read more

Rotten customer service - I called to complain about my lawn and they put it on me that I wasn't calling them enough for treatment between services. I signed up for the TruComplete plan last year. The TruComplete package is supposed to come with Aeration/Overseeding, Grub Prevention, and Pre-Emergent/Targeted Weed Control. All of their service invoices said the same thing. "Today, I applied potash fertilizer to strengthen the root system of your lawn and improve its health and vigor." That's it. My last service was 3/5/2020 to put down slow-releasing fertilizer. Nothing in April. My lawn is now easily the worst on our street. There are patches of nothing, small patch of dead grass on the front lawn where the grub larvae "live" and crabgrass growing on the side/back of my property. I just cancelled my service/had to fight for a partial refund of prepayment for the year and will be trying either Lawn Doctor or Sunday. Beware!!! I paid for organic fertilizer. I have had to repeatedly remind the technicians who show up that I have purchased organic fertilizer treatment . This is the 5 th time that the technician has arrived with non organic product. I am an organic farm and can not have non-organic products on my property. I also have a well and don't want fertilizer or pesticides in my water supply or anywhere on my property. The technicians are not reading the directions before them come. I want to cancel this service and need a refund. I sent the technician who had the incorrect product back this week and told him not to return. I called and complained about this previously and they were ok for the next run and then it started all over again. I don't have time to sit on the phone and chase this. read more

I called TruGreen to get two lawn treatments to knock down the weeds.Of course they want to do the whole year. I understand but two treatments is all I wanted for weed control. I have used TG for 20 years. This wasn't for my property but just wanted them in for two treatments. They said you have to either get the year or a minimum of 4 lawn treatments at $660.00 that was way higher than my initial quote from two days ago. I did two treatments before and I wouldn't expect to get the same results as 4 or 6 and was just requesting two for a reason. I didn't want to weed spray myself but I will and save a ton of money for the same result. Since six weeks I asked to schedule a reseed and airing service for my backyard lawn as it has in many areas spots look like grass is dead with many almost white large spots . Except one time mr Zack scheduled us for someone to come on Sept 17 between 8-10 am but nobody came when I called customer service inquiring why nobody came I was told someone removed us from the schedule. I have been only few months with this company . You listen to its sale recorded messages, it is so sweet and convincing once they get your credit card forget it . You get no good service and no care. I have called TRuGreen 3 separate times to cancel the mosquito service that I used once in the summer of 2020. Each time I spoke with a representative and was assured that the service was canceled. The very next week I would receive another email stating that my service has been scheduled. This is harassment and a waste of my time! And potentially my money - if they attempt to charge me. How many requests does it take to cancel a service!? I feel that I made a deal with the devil in 2020! I can't get rid of them. Please stay away from this company if you value customer service and your time. Update 4th Call - TRuGreen lacks integrity: I just got off the line with a TRuGreen rep who informed me that I reinitiated service yesterday (6/7/2021) - which is a total lie. DO. NOT. I am a person that likes nice things, including a healthy lawn, hence my trugreen contract. I have never been so frustrated though. 1. After a year, the weeds are worse than before. Awful. I have had just the worst experience with them the last few years. The only reason I've stayed a customer is the product is good but my experience with them has been they are inconsistent and sometimes unprofessional and I had to constantly chase after them to get them to service my house. I even had a manager come to my house who in my opinion was defensive and unhelpful and frankly what I felt like I was being talked down to. He kept comparing other customer's problems which I had to keep explaining those are other customers' problems. I know my issue is not unique given other complaints here and what my neighbors have also said. I have much more to say but it's pointless given that management even isn't willing to listen. And btw I was told by this manager who came to the house that he's not even the right person to be addressing the problem. So why come to my house with an especially bad attitude? I'll also add that the response they have here is autogenerated. I've already aired my complaints. I doubt they will be resolved. Likely going to be taking my business elsewhere. At this point I strongly recommend to whoever is reading this that corporate needs to get involved. Our county is unique with pesticide bans but your online reps and your branch people are providing inconsistent information. It wastes customer time. read more

TruGreen is a joke. 1. I call TruGreen to make home appointment. 2. I take off work for scheduled morning appointment with TruGreen. 3. TruGreen does not show. 4. Um, I was home all day and took off work for this. I tell them to forget it and I'll go with another company. 7. Following day, guy shows up and rings my doorbell! I regret ever having called them. I never saw anyone, and the only way I know they came through at all for a few minutes because they would leave signs in the yard and a completely rote notice of recommendations on the door. The quality of the lawn and amount of weeds was utterly unchanged from previous years, so they added ZERO VALUE. I have tried to cancel the service something like a dozen times (not kidding) and THEY KEEP CALLING TO SCHEDULE AND SENDING BILLS. I just got one from a collection agency!! Worst of all, one of their salespeople called to sell me mosquito protection, warning me to remember that MOSQUITOS CARRY THE HIV VIRUS! (in case you don't know it, that's complete bullcrap). I have found them to be useless and shady. My opinion: hire someone local and forget this option. They have been THE WORST. read more

We just started with their lawn service this year to knock down the weed population. No complaints there. Add-on Mosquito Service? no, no, no, no, no. Just no. Mid-summer, my wife wanted to try their mosquito service. There seemed to be a slight improvement for a month or so, but the mosquitos were back to being as bad as ever. My wife registered a complaint, they gave a complementary extra treatment (fine, but not really what we wanted. We really wanted the mosquito problem solved.) They also then gave her a list of issues to check on the yard: standing water (flower pots?) bad drainage (not obviously), etc. CLEARLY: If they wanted to solve the mosquito problem, this would have been their first step. Before starting, they might've said, "we'll provide the service, buy you need to ensure X, Y, Z... on your property. At this point, I'm completely unimpressed. I'd researched mosquito control last year and learned how mosquitos are a very hard problem to solve. There is no single silver bullet. When these guys offered the mosquito service to my wife, it made no obvious sense: How they could spray the grass with a relatively safe (kids/pets) concoction, and it would make the mosquitos from around the neighborhood decide to avoid crossing our property line Lesson learned: TruGreen has no Secret Skeeter Sauce. Just another add-on subscription service. At this point (becuase of TruGreen's intattentive "mosquito posture," I think we'll investigate an alternate lawn spray service read more

THIS COMPANY SUCKS. IF IT WOULD LET ME GIVE NEGATIVE RATING OR ZERO STARS I WOULD. The service... when they ever decide to show up. I WOULD NOT EVER REFER OR EVEN SUGGEST THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. MOT EVEN MY WORST ENEMY... because they wouldn't show up to screw it up! This company is the absolute worst! I signed up for their weed control and fertilization service. The first issue is that they don't have a regular schedule of when they come. It's so random and months can pass before they show up again. Even when I emailed customer care about the weeds in my lawn, they said someone will be out next week. That someone didn't show up until 3 weeks later. When he did come, he walked the perimeter of my front lawn with his spreader and then left. My ring camera caught it all. They quoted a completely different program price and I said never mind, I don' want your service. By the way, we paid the 29.95. So Trugreen came and applied chemical. We called and cancelled. I almost never write a negative review but this is a WARNING TO THE PUBLIC. TruGreen has been used in our for THREE SEPARATE OF OUR FAMILIES' HOMES so you cannot say it was a single time or that we didn't give it a chance or that we didn't follow through on their recommendations (by season - summer, spring, fall and obviously not in the winter). We signed up expecting our lawn to be treated well for weeds, etc, we did all their recommendations by season, we paid, we followed up to discuss how it was going with our lawns (paid so much for barely any difference - weeds still grew rampant, grass was brown and unhealthy with patches). On some occasions, they would "supposedly" have shown up and had not left ANY NOTICE on the door but would CHARGE US ANYWAY and our cameras showed NO ONE that day. We even finally cut off the service after a YEAR of this and THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS later. They still CHARGED US for the "alleged" visit and after multiple calls to TruGreen to explain that we don't want to pay for a service we never got especially after we already canceled - they just kept resending the bills and we'd call call call again and again to be reassured it was "handled" and today we got notice from COLLECTIONS! UGH! ARE YOU SERIOUS, TRUGREEN? I don't have time to make a federal case out of this nor do I want my credit score affected so we paid. What fake BS service are you supposedly doing for people? This is so unethical and we have always paid but of course we complained for a charge after we CANCELED and you "supposedly" came (come and check our cameras and prove us wrong). Terrible and incredibly rude. I got a package for them to come 6 times a year and until a few days ago, they had only come 4 times, with barely a month left in the year and still 2 treatments left. Some random guy I'd never seen before (probably just someone standing in for my usual guy) rang the doorbell. I went to see who it was and saw him going back to the TruGreen truck. He said that he "didn't think anyone was home", and at THAT point he began to take out all his equipment and everything. In all the times I've stayed home while TruGreen did their thing, no one has EVER rang the doorbell prior to starting. They only ring it when they're done and leave the summary on my door. My conclusion? This guy wasn't even planning on giving a treatment if I hadn't chased him down out the door! I remember back when I first signed up that I only wanted 4 treatments a year but the insisted on 6, and yet here they are trying to skimp on the final 2 treatments. He finished in all of 5 minutes and gave me a bootleg-looking receipt which had another guy's name on it (my usual guy), with the wrong date, time, and totally inaccurate other information. Of course, this is some shady business so I called the office directly and the person who answered literally threw a fit. She was all, "Well, you got your treatment so what? Why are you complaining?" Why am I complaining? Because they're not sticking to their policy and the contract for the treatments (bi-monthly), and having inaccurate information on a receipt or summary of any sort is totally unethical (in terms of deception) and entirely shady in the event that I need to rely on that information later and they end up denying it. I'll be calling Scott's for my lawn treatments next year. read more

Their lawn and weed care service is generally okay. They have done a good job controlling the weeds. Unfortunately the seed and aeration service just didn't work out. Last year they came out in November, a little too late for watering the lawn. I had already put away the sprinkler and turned off the perimeter water. I asked them to come out earlier this year. Unfortunately, the aeration was performed very poorly. The tech pushed the machine at a fast pace turning it round and round in the yard and causing it to tear up the grass and leaving large clumps of dirt. I was watching from the window and couldn't believe how reckless his actions were. Another tech came out the next day to look at it. He said it was best to just leave the yard as is and let the dirt settle back into the ground when it rains. I agreed with that assessment, but I cancelled the aeration service. I will keep the weed control for another year and see how it goes. The tech came out yesterday and did the aeration service again. No charge. Giving them four stars for great response and trying to resolve issues. read more

Had been a customer for about 1.5 year. Initially, I was pretty satisfied as they were keeping my new house's weed under control. But overtime, I notice my lawns health is not improving, especially when it has already gone through a year of fertilization, weed control, aeration and over-seeding. I noticed our front and backyard started to have more bare spots. Overall, the amount of healthy grass has gotten less. The nightmare starts about 2 months ago when TruGreen came and treated my lawn for weed. The chemical they used ended up killing a portion of my healthy tall fescue. I called their customer service and they issued a "rescue service" that's supposed to fix the problem. However, instead of fixing the problem they ended up applying ANOTHER round of weed control within 2 weeks of initial treatment! The rest of this story involves me calling TruGreen 5+ times about this. Every time, I would get a response about their service manager calling me back within 24-48 hours, but no one EVER called for resolution. Recently, I installed security cameras around our premises and I received an automated call from TruGreen about service. I thought, "Great, finally someone is coming to fix this". Turned out, they are out here to treat my lawn with weed control, AGAIN! For the 3rd time. What's worst? If you ever noticed your treatment detail mentioned they've used X amount of chemical to treat X amount of yard per sq feet on your (entire) lawn? Welp, my security cameras showed the technician drove by my front yard back/forth, take a guess, a total of 1 TIME and he didn't even bother to treat the backyard. In a way, I'm glad he didn't because my lawn is already having problems. But at the same time, I also realized I've been scammed for this type of poor service for the money they charged. If I can, I would give TruGreen 0 star! I'd stay away if you live in the MontCo area in Maryland! read more
