First timer here!! The door guys, the security guys and both guys in the sound booth were really cool. The younger female bartender was awful. Obviously an amateur and not friendly or nice. She would stand at the end of the bar and chat with non- customers and literally roll her eyes when people came up for service. This bar is an absolute joke. They literally cut me off after just 3 drinks, which has never happened to me anywhere else. If you're looking for a good time, avoid this place at all costs and head to The Warehouse instead. The staff here is rude and unprofessional, and the so-called security is a joke. I am from New Orleans, and it is totally normal to take an unfinished drink outside of establishments. I was waiting for my ride outside, and as I was about to take my last sip, the bouncer snatched it out from my lips without even a warning. Went here for a friends birthday it was a group of 6 of us we were having a good time hanging out and spending money buying drinks and keep in mind it is only 9p.m. There was hardly anyone in there and we have been here for over an hr just sitting at a table conversating when one of the bouncers comes and ask me to come with him and I asked him to explain what I had done wrong he said I had done nothing wrong but his manager noticed my FREEDOM shirt and that they didnt allow political apparel in the place. After we left my buddy was telling me that when he went to the bar, the bar tender said i was a trouble maker and my buddy just laughed thinkin they were joking but now looking back they were judging me based off of my tee shirt and we were not acting wild or anything we were literally sitting down haveing a good time, the staff at this place are ridiculous they treated us so disrespectfully. I understand having your beliefs but judging my character based off my apparel is crazy especially considering that this bar is known for having a huge diversity of people and to know they only rufuse service to the conservative party is disgusting! If you plan on having a good time, don't go to this bar. Me and some friends went out for our friends 21st birthday. We were sitting outside waiting for the dj to come on, talking and laughing, minding our own business. Then not 1 not 2 but 3 security gaurds come out and tells one of the girls she has to leave cause we got her another drink when NO ONE, NOT ONE PERSON, told ANY OF US, she was cut off. Ok fine whatever, we walked those friends to their car and went to go back inside. Upon walking up to the door they asked for my ID again, which no problem, I was grabbing it out of my purse and it took me a second to find it in my wallet because I wasn't prepared to have it out since I had already been inside. My friend was like here let me get it and i told her "No I'm fine, i can get it." and the security guard then proceeds to tell me "Well I can't let you in because you just said you were drunk". Ummm, excuse me? No I did not I said I was fine. So I was like whatever that's dumb, can I close my tab at least? And they told me no that my friend had to close it for me. They treated us like we were causing issues/fights/scenes. Never once have I heard of a bar kicking you out for minding your own business sitting at a table and for saying "I'm fine". This bar apparently doesn't like when you have fun, mind your own business, or is too impatient to wait for you to supply your ID. This place is so special to me. Just after one night, too. Without all of the details of my exploits, I ended up here. Seeking something, but I wasn't sure just what. This was certainly a popular hangout for the college kids, but a decent mix as well. The kind of place you find a mass amount of college students, stoners, tourists, townies and just about all else, coexisting. They are like your average college town bar. Draft, bottles, shot specials, etc. The location is wonderful. Take a Lyft here (not Uber, lest you be Cosby'd) and you can stroll to a lot of places. Once in (there is a door person) you will meet tjis cast or characters. I was instantly at home. I ordered my beer and a group of college kids were waiting to cheers me. We hollered, cheers'd, and went about our lives. Even after all that, I silo'd myself at a bench by the pool tables and disappeared. It was wonderful. I would suggest this as a middle or last stop if you are visiting Waco. I will certainly be back. I doubt you will regret it. read more

So this is my take on TRUELOVE BAR, I'm a very very patient person. I've come to this bar countless times with family & friends I've recommended this bar to tons of people and let me say I will never recommend this place ever again or go here again and neither will a lot of people I know... me and my fiancé came to true love on a Thursday night after the fair we stopped in Trojans and long story short we get to the door and DANIEL (piercing in between the eye brow) is checking my ID is staring rather crappy at my husband. I ask why HIS HE WAS DOING THIS? RESPONSE: HE DRUNK HE JUST SWAVED, AS HE IS TALKING TO MY GIRLFRIEND AND LAUGHING WITH HER. HE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SPEAK to the door guy didn't even get close to the door for him to make this judgement call. I said you're joking right? He literally had three beers and that was from the fair and one at Trojans this man looked me dead in my face and told me no I'm not kidding I said this is crap: THIS SAME MAN DANIEL HAS DONE THIS TO MY FIANCÉ 3 times 2nd encounter just two weeks prior and we still continue to come back I looked at him and told him if you don't know what discrimination looks like this is a fine definition of it. We proceeded to walk away he then tell me when I said I want to speak to the manager that there's A YELP PAGE FOR THIS.... I lost it. I was like oh so not only are you rude but think you're funny. It features an extensive outdoor patio with seating & a cantina-style bar with a covered outdoor stage. The inside has two sections, a cocktail lounge room perfect for renting out for a small event or celebration & the main area with a great stage, 2 pool tables, & plenty of seating. They have a great menu & a huge selection of local beers - especially the ever popular '$1 mystery beer' which equates to 'we have 1 left and it's yours'! Next time you're in town, check it out. So our group goes out to celebrate our friend's birthday with drinks and karaoke. The line to get in to Truelove is long, but we stick it out. We wait about forty minutes to get in. It's fine, we makeshift a table, order some drinks, and get our names on the karaoke list. We're #20 on the list. An hour and a half goes by and we go to check out where we are now. The same four people have been singing most of the time. We have only moved up two spots- we're now #18. We ask the DJ (Glen) what's up, and he says we need $20 to move our names up the list- per person. So anyways, if you feel like spending $100 or wasting three hours, this a great spot, but otherwise you can find a better place to spend your night. Although if you're looking for a job, Glen probably makes bank, so I highly recommend looking into managing karaoke for a bar. read more

Cool little local spot on the main drag in Waco. It's grungy, it's smelly, and it's college'y yo! None the less there isn't much to pick from in this sleepy college town. I debated writing this because I try to give people a lot of patience. Coming from a family of restaurant owners, I know that it is not always easy-- especially during times when you are subject to even more criticism. That being said, my experience at Truelove was that of an appalling one. Words cannot express my disappointment and anger after being asked to leave (impolitely at that) by a nobody-bartender who claimed my ID was fake and then insinuated that I was uneducated. Here is what happened: my friend and I entered Truelove in hopes to grab a few drinks, the bouncer was very kind: he checked our ids and temperate and we went inside. It was pretty dead so we went out to the back to check out the scene. We were standing away from everyone completely distanced, figuring out where we were going to sit down. A young man, or should I say boy, approached us, came all up in our faces, and asked us to put masks on. He then proceeded to ask us for our ids. We politely handed them to him and explained that the bouncer had already checked them out the door; to which he RUDELY replied "well I would like to check them again". He took them to the light and looked at my friend's (TX) and handed it back to her. He then blurted out to me "THIS IS FAKE. YOU MUST LEAVE RIGHT NOW". I replied saying, "because I have a New York license, it's fake?". And he said "no because it says not for federal purposes. Please leave". I said "I'm sorry sir, have you ever heard of an enhanced ID? The reason it says Not for federal purposes is because it's not an enhanced ID." He said yes I know what that is and I don't care. This is fake. He continued to harass my friend and I, follow us around the bar, all while we were simply trying to talk to the manager. He accused me of a crime first of all, second of all talked to us in a completely unprofessional manner, and would not let us speak to a manager. I had my passport pulled up on my phone to show them, just so they know it wasn't fake. I'm a pre-law student who is applying to law schools, I would never do anything to risk my reputation like that. I'm just a Baylor student here from New York. If he would have politely asked to see another form or asked another person for an opinion it would have been different but that was NOT what occurred. After we finally asked another bartender for a manager, JUSTIN followed us to the door and said we had to leave. Continued to harass us, all while the original bouncer said our ids looked fine. After waiting quite some time, a manger finally came and we tried to speak to him. NOT ONCE did we get an apology from him or anyone else. All the manger said was "I will talk to Justin about how that is not his job." And then he said "listen ladies, I think you should just go enjoy the rest of your night and come back another time". Why the hell would we want to come back.......no apologies, no recourse for what happened... Nothing. NEVER ever ever patron this establishment. read more

Greeter/bouncer at the door asking, "is this your first time here?" Indeed it was my first visit. He proceeded to explain there were a large number of IPA's at the bar, pool tables towards the back as well as an area out back for smoking. It was approximately 7:00 pm on a Friday night. Place was dead! Maybe a total of 10 people in the whole bar. Bartender friendly enough. I ordered a bourbon on the rocks. I've been a bourbon ambassador for a top bourbon maker in Kentucky for over 18 years. I know my bourbon! I'm pretty certain the bourbon was watered down! A technique used by struggling restaurants and bars to save $$$. I now wish I had ordered my bourbon straight for I would be able to conclude 100% the bourbon had been watered down. This is a terrible bar. They guy at the door was racist to my friend & said I was too drunk to go in because I was digging through my purse to find my ID (which was buried at the bottom). I'm flattered to be ID'd at 54 years old but to be told I'm too drunk because I was digging my ID out of my purse is ridiculous. This wasn't the first time my friend had a racist issue either. I hadn't been to this bar since 2019 & had a terrible time getting drinks because the bartenders were too busy serving their friends first & ignoring other customers. This time around we ran into racism & an asshole door guy with a horrible attitude. Do not go to this establishment. I know I will never set foot anywhere near there again. So much fun though when you let loose, but you definitely want to go with a small group of you ask me. Went on a Friday night, didn't seem too active as I would think, but that's cool. It honestly depends on what mood you're in that day lol. Bathrooms: Wouldn't go alone, take your "Sober" friend lmao... but it NEEDS TO BE MUCH CLEANER. There's plenty of seating, pool tables, dart boards and a large back patio if they happen to be doing trivia or karaoke inside. The best part about this place is the drink prices and the drink selection. They have easily over 50 different beers available and they're also adding new beer and liquor. Usually being the Designated Driver means that you're going to feel awkward, and possibly bored, during the evening. There's so much going on at truelove bar that there's never a dull moment.
