True Value is a testament to how hardware stores have evolved from selling only hardware supplies. Today, it has something in it for the whole family. And why not? Often, when mom and dad need to buy stuff for the living room, kitchen, car, garage, or garden, they tag their kids along, anyway. Why not offer something for them to consider buying, as well?
Indeed, this is usually the scenario for our family trips to the hardware. At True Value, while the parental units are shopping for paint or lighting fixtures or windshield wipers, we kids check out the pet supplies and toys or the baking items. Recently, we even came across cotton candy machines and peanut butter makers, Coca-Cola memorabilia, and lip balms in fun, outrageous flavors (Nerds, Hershey's, Reese's, DQ, Bazooka, pizza, bacon, and fries, etc.) on display. Of course we girls had to buy one each of that last item. Hehe.
So, the next time you're asked to go to the hardware store to buy a replacement for the busted lightbulb in the bathroom, don't think of it as too much of a chore. Who knows, there might be something there you'd want for yourself, too. Win-win! read more
