I'm 31 years old and for most people, I am a dinosaur. Old, close to extinction and already smelling like soil (sounds so much better in Filipino: amoy lupa) I know it's stupid because in other countries 31 is still so young but since this is Manila, anyone above 27 that's unmarried is considered an old lady that's no longer ripe for the picking. I don't necessarily feel old. I think I look better now than 10 years ago but there are times when my day entails responsibilities that make me feel ancient. Paying off utilities, fixing my car, buying bulbs- these are the tasks of an adult and because I am one already, I often make trips to True Value to reinforce this truth. So what did I just purchase from here recently? Well, I bought a night lamp, a table and a hammer. I bought all these in stride, the staff made everything so easy for me, perhaps too easy that I almost wanted to say, "Shut up and take my money" but I didn't.
