I was scared at first thinking of all the ways it could go wrong. I Thought it might make me feel claustrophobic or dizzy, but it turned out great! My mind was quiet and didn't wander off anywhere which was so peaceful! I was surprisingly so present to my body and breathing that the hour felt very short. I was definitely called to purchase some more, so I did. I'm excited to try it out again! They did mention that most people start seeing the benefits after the third float. The location is perfect. I used Uber because I didn't want to worry about parking. I did notice a lot of parking space though. I've been to True REST Float spa twice now and I can't say that I love it but, I do enjoy it. The second time around I was better prepared and came with the necessary tools to manage my long locs after my session. When you first arrive, if it's your first time, you start by watching a short video that explains how the float spa works. Then you're taken to your private suite where you shower, step into the pod, close the pod door and float in water for about an hour. The water isn't hot at all. It's more lukewarm to warm. The pod door is never locked. You can open it at any time during your session. It's best to be still as long as you can to receive the benefits. The benefits of a float spa is rest, relaxation, relieves muscle tension, stress relief, mood enhancer, and a number of other benefits. Floating weightless in water in a pod created such a deeply cocooned, meditative experience for me. The water was soothing emotionally and physically. With that being said if you have long locs it may be difficult to fully relax. My locs soaked up so much water, just thinking about the work ahead of me made it hard to let go the way I really wanted to. My first experience with this spa was a surprise gift. After you're done there is a styling station that's stocked with hair-dryers, combs, and a few other minor toiletries that are helpful when drying your hair. After you dress there is a cozy lounge area where you can decompress, write about your experience in one of their shared journals, and or do oxygen therapy for 15 minutes. Recently closed down without informing me. I have been a member here for about 7 years now and tried to book an appointment today only to discover that it is permanently closed. The phone does not work and I was never informed that it will be closed soon. I wish I was notified earlier what was going to happen so I can plan accordingly. I called the Austin location and they do not know when this location will re-open if ever. If someone can inform me, that would be great in determining whether I want to keep the membership or not. I've been making it my personal goal to visit each float therapy place in Houston (also checked out the bench mark for float therapy in Austin by visiting zero gravity institute) so here are the things I look for when checking these places out. 1. Is this a float pod or a cabin. (Pods are the size of a Mini Cooper whereas cabins are the size of a walk in closet) they both have their pros and cons 2. Ambiance of the room you go into prior to the float 3. Where the shower is located (trust me this is a big deal) 4. And if there is a place to get ready and adjust after the float So to start off with I found out about this place through Groupon full disclosure here and for the price it's a good deal. I needed to book for 530 since I get off work @ 5 the person spoke to said this wasn't a problem. Unfortunately this wasn't the case as I got a phone call 30 minutes prior to 530 stating that I needed to be there at 5 or they need to reschedule. Thankfuly Marissa was able to clear this all out and have still come in even though that's not how they run things so thank you Marissa. Sat through the standard videos some of these places have and filled out the forms was showed around and then taken to my float area. Thankfully showers were in the same room as the float and in this case was a pod. Not my favorite but they did have an aux cable for my iPhone so was able to play some music to mellow me out more. This helped the float a lot as I was able to get a deeper state of rest. Although this was a pod it still did the trick. Afterwards took a shower but unfortunately the water pressure was horrible and the lights kept turning off. True Rest was a nice experience. Booking was done via the website/text message. No one seemed to be available via phone, but the automated text system was very easy to use. I ended up having to change my appointment twice, and once within just hours of the initial time, but was never charged a rescheduling fee, which I appreciated. When I arrived for my appointment, there was a brief intro video about the history of floating and guidelines for the therapy, then a quick tour. The float rooms were clean, quiet, and provided everything you needed from shampoo to earplugs. They even had a dressing room with other products and needs. For the float pod itself, you can choose to have music and/or lights on or off at your whim. I did find it weird that both online and in the intro video, they said you could hook your phone up to the pod to use your own music, but this facility did not have that capability. Their music was a fine, if repetitive, stock "relaxing music" track. The "Oasis Room" didn't feel as luxurious as some photos/videos I saw. It was right off the main desk area and room where they played the intro video, so I imagine it can get noisy when there are a lot of people checking in. The ceramic cups people delicately sipped from in the videos were actually Dixie cups (not a big deal, just funny). I also don't quite understand the appeal of "oxygen therapy". It really didn't seem to do much but put some lightly scented air in your nose. All in all though, if you like floating or want to try it out, True Rest is a good first option. That being said...I have learned that I don't like floating. There are a lot of health benefits to water therapy, epson salts, and any sort of experience where you're just relaxing. And, obviously per other reviews, other people have had very relaxing experiences. I was actually sad to discover float therapy was just not for me. The first 15 minutes were really nice and relaxing, but after a while I started feeling restless and tried to go back to the breathing exercises. My stomach started feeling a little unsettled, then gradually it became uncomfortable to the point I got out. The intro video did say that nausea is a possibility, but I didn't think it'd happen to me since I've never had issues with water/boat sickness. But by the time I got home, I felt pretty sick. They claimed you need to try float therapy three times for the effects to be felt (which felt more like a way to push a membership), but I won't be trying this again. So if you have any sort of issues with motion sickness or nausea, consider some ways to mitigate that before and after you try floating. read more

I get massages on occasion so I came here for the same purpose. For relaxation and because it sounded pretty cool from what I read online. True REST is located in a busy shopping center in the Buffalo Speedway area but parking wasn't a problem. Upon entering, since it was my first time, I watched a short video explaining the benefits of floating and what my experience was going to be like. I sipped on some oolong tea while watching the video. From there, they bought me to my room. You take a shower and then enter the float pod. The first 15 minutes has relaxing music. You have the option of keeping the pod open, keeping it partially open, or closing it entirely. I closed it entirely but if you're claustrophobic, you might not want to do that. Kinda felt like I was in a futuristic space pod making my way to Mars. You float effortlessly because of the iodized salt in the water. At first, it's a little strange but then you get used to it and start relaxing. After 15 minutes of music, the next 40 are in complete silence. You can keep your pod lighted inside or shut off the lights so it's dark. Some people like to meditate during this time. Which is exactly what I did. From there, the music comes back on for 5 minutes and then you get out and take another shower. From there, they have some complimentary toiletries for you to use like a hairdryer and deodorant. Last but not least, they have a room with an oxygen bar which was also a first for me. One oxygen bar run was complimentary and they have four "flavors". True Rest Float Spa was a very unique experience! I happened to give this place a try because I needed to use a lot of my classpass credits before they expired, and this was something I'd never heard of before. Not knowing what to expect when I walked in, the employees here really explained what floatation therapy is, and how you benefit from it. These private floating pods give you a sense of floating on air, and help you to relieve stress and just completely unwind. Your own private shower, towel, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toiletries, etc are all provided. The oxygen bar at the end was a nice touch, and the complimentary chamomile tea really sets the peaceful mood. Just be sure when you are preparing to float that you don't have any small cuts or scratches on your skin, otherwise the high salt concentration in the water really stings. I happened to have a couple scratches from bouldering the day before, and they definitely stung for a couple mins making it harder to relax initially. Luckily they do provide petroleum jelly to act as a waterproof band aid of sorts to help you out. The water proof ear plugs really completes the whole experience as well to stay in the relaxed zone. But overall this place was great! Floatation therapy is unlike other forms of relaxation therapy, and it exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do this again as they said the relaxation benefits are more apparent on your 2nd and 3rd float sessions. When I called to confirm my appointment, the person at the front desk informed me that "because of unforeseen circumstances" they couldn't keep my appointment time and offered me different times. I thought it was odd... and if they would've communicated that to me that if I hadn't called to confirm... and if they overbooked but just called it an "unforeseen circumstance." Anywho, the women at the front desk are always pleasant. The facilities are kept clean and has a super relaxing, serene atmosphere. The float therapy itself was interesting. I think I enjoyed it a bit more at my first visit. This time the chamber had a slight chlorine smell that I didn't love but it didn't bother me that much. They have different color light settings that you can control with a button in the chamber. Next to that button is another button with which you control the music. It took me a while to get it exactly how I liked it but I think I like the purple light with music playing. Overall, it's an interesting experience worth trying out. I have visited this place twice now. I enjoyed it both times but apparently this is something you feel the benefits of after several times. Saw on Facebook they were doing 2 for 1 (1hr) float special. I immediately cashed in. Bought two of the special and planned a girls day with my mom and sisters. We were so excited. The facility was clean and smelled like essential oils. The front desk lady was sweet and helped us through the whole process. You go in 30 minutes prior to your float, sign your waiver and info sheet on their iPads then go into a room. There, they show you an informational video. You learn about the benefits of floating, what you need to do to float, etc. Then they take you to your individual rooms. The room is not quite sauna hot but warm so it's comfortable. You put in ear plugs to protect your ears, Vaseline on any cuts, and then take a shower to wash off oils. Ladies, you can not float if it is your TOM. After you use body wash and shampoo. You HAVE to dry you face, the salt will burn if you don't, they have a little hand towel for this. They give you a neck ring to relax your head on during the float if you want it. The pod has three buttons inside, one is an intercom to ask for anything, one is to stop the relaxation music, the other is to change/turn off the colored light. You step in and the water is body temp. You don't feel cold or uncomfortable and you float immediately. My mom was worried about not floating or touching the bottom but trust, the body is 8' tall and anyone will float. You bump into the slides at first but once you relax you stay centered. If you splash your face they have a fresh water spray bottle and you can keep your hand towel by it to dry off. You can close the pod or you can keep it open to allow fresh air in. I kept mine open but turned off the motion sensitive light for the room so I wouldn't set it off, my pod light gave off enough light to see. At one point I turned that off and floated in the dark. I enjoyed putting my own phone music on and sitting cross legged in my pod. After your hour is up the filter comes on in the pod, you get out and shower the salt off. You should condition your hair, they have a towel for you to dry off. Put your clothes on and go to their other room to get ready. They have hair dryers and straighteners, lotion, Q-tips, lotion. It's just a little room with a counter and a big mirror to get ready. When we were done we went to their little lounge and did the scented (mint, lavender, etc) oxygen bar, they use disposable tubes so you just throw it away when you're done. Shower never got warm was my biggest issue and it was cold today. Just a weak ass apology for having to take a cold ass shower after being relaxed and warm in the float tank. It was sensitive deprivation then sensory overload. Really ruined the experience. "Prep room" doesn't even have a chair or still got you to sit and lotion yourself. OKAY IT REALLY PAINS ME TO DO THIS! But this 100% Factual and True. Let me start by saying my I love True Rest every time I go it's always a pleasant and relaxing experience but this most recent was just not good at all. Upon being set up with my suite and pod I began to shower and make sure I follow all rules and regulations as I normally would. Now once inside the pod I'm accustomed to being greeted by a nice relaxing voice, instructing me that my float is about to begin along with the relaxing music that just completely puts me in utter bliss as I go through my floating experience. Well that wasn't the case on my most recent visit, disregarding the fact that the towel that was nicely folded in my suite was full of holes and ripped. So that means a staff member did the laundry saw that a towel was ripped and had holes in it and still chose to set it out for PAYING CUSTOMERS to use (strike-1). Upon showering I'm used to the dispensers being always full and correctly labeled well that was not the case once again, I didn't know whether I was using soap, conditioner, or shampoo. I just winged it and didn't want to be a huge burden to the staff and start complying too bad but this is where I was completely disgusted with the experience. As I enter the pod, relaxed and ready to float there was nothing is was just a light in the pod and no recording greeting me welcoming me to the float experience nothing allowing me to be aware how much time I have nor did I have the relaxing music. I was slightly bored and felt completely cheated out of the experience. Upon informing the staff that my pod/suite was basically a clunker, they assured me they would take care of it. THEY DIDN'T!!! But like I said I didn't want to be a burden, so I just sat and floated in sensory deprivation boredom for an hour and left. Oh and know I was so pissed I didn't even use the o2 therapy which I LOVE. This is one of my favorite places to go. Now that the pandemic has died down and they're open again, I can finally get some relaxation. I love the incubator, it closes you in and you float on about 4-6 inches of saltwater. The inside is soothing as you can choose to have the mood lighting on or off and the soft music on or off. Laying in this thing for an hour will do wonders. I always end up waking up on my side because I fall into a deep sleep. Would highly suggest to anyone needing mental relaxation. read more

I was so impressed by True Rest! Purchased a float session for 2 people on Groupon as my boyfriend has been wanting to try this for awhile. The staff was incredibly friendly. They showed us an informational video and gave us a tour prior to our float. They put us in rooms next to each other and explained how it worked. As for the actual float, I personally had a hard time relaxing but that is not their fault. The pods can stay open or be closed, and you can shut the light off. You are advised to shower (there's one in each pod room) both before and after. After the float, there was a prep room equipped with deodorant, hair ties, cotton swabs, hair dryer, etc. Then there is a relaxation room with tea, and oxygen aromatherapy. Today was my first float. It took a bit to get used to the float but after I relax it was very enjoyable. I did not noticed how relaxing it was until I have to drive home. I slept so good. And the following day I was so relaxed. I'm very cold natured but the water in the pod was not to cool to make me uncomfortable. the showers and the rooms are warm and inviting very similar to a spa environment. I came after work and I had work clothes on. My suggestion would be to wear or at least bring your most baggy comfortable clothes to put on after your float as the room is rather humid. I'm looking forward to Future floats, so much so that I did purchase a membership. Memberships are on a month-to-month basis and you can cancel at any time. This float I use a Groupon. The membership I purchased was $99 a month, which includes two floats. they applied my cost of my Groupon to my membership and in addition gave me one extra float for signing up. So that was 4 floats for $99. In the membership the floats unused do roll over and you can also freeze or cancel your membership and you have 6 months to use any remaining floats. I'm looking forward to checking this out not only for the relaxation but to see if it will also bring relief to some of my aches and pains. Ive never tried float therapy before. The team were very helpful in explaining what I should expect from the time I bookes my appointment until it was time for me to float. For first timers, they take you back into a room to watch an instructional video, its only about 6 mins long but its very helpful. Did you know that they utilize do much Epsom salt in their pods and thats how you are able to float during the session. The spa is located in a bustling shopping center but once you walk in, its so serene in there. The front desk worker took me back to the private suites where each "pod" is located. This place ia much larger than it looks. In your private suite there is a shower area with toilets and they also offer towels for your session too. It's kinda funny because the pod reminded me of something you'll see in a sci-fi movie. After showering and washing my hair, you'll get into the pod to float. The session starts with some soft music playing but once you lay down in the water, I think i was sleep in about 10 minutes. My session lasted an hour and you're awaken with a reminder that your session is ending in 5 minutes. After showering and getting myself together, I was so relaxed. They also have a powder room too, that has additional beauty supplies for your use. I was so happy I decided to give this place a chance. Waited about another 10 minutes to see if they would turn off while pushing the call button with no response. Recio to just say screw and got out. I have visited this place several times over the past year. I loved it last year, it really was amazing and the staff was very professional and friendly. however I have come a few times this year and have not felt quite as welcomed. It also seems like each time I am there they are training a new employee. Wh en I arrive now they are nice enough but just greet me and say "room 4". yes I have been there before and I can find room 4 just fine. its just one of those small touches last year when they would walk you to the room that made you feel more pampered, i guess. I love the facility and experience but on my last visit the pod covering when you opened it was all sticky with finger smudges which made me question how well the inside of the pod is cleaned ( the part you actually float in that comes in direct contact with your skin and body orifices) also, the time before last, there was an accident on the freeway so I arrived 15 minutes late. instead of getting my complete hour float the pumps came on after 45 minutes and the current it creates was not enjoyable. i tried to use the call button but noone answered so or assisted me so i just got out. as i was leaving i noticed the 2 employees were trying to sell a monthly plan to another guest. I realize that is necessary to keep the business open, I understand. it just made me feel like that was more of a priority instead of ensuring all guests are completely satisfied and happy. also it is not like giving me the complete hour would have been an issue either. the next hour is reserved for 2 hours floats and not that many people seem to show up for that. I made an appointment for my fiancé and I on Saturday at 4pm. They have a text service and I notified them that my route will take an hour and I will be about 10 mins late due to the Marathon traffic. They said they will notify the front office. I never received a notification. We arrive at the Float spa, no-one was there, I walked through the back saying "hello, hello" no-one responded. We waited in the waiting area for over 10 mins when Jessica finally came to the front desk with her sassy attitude and didn't even acknowledge us and went straight to the computer. We apologized for being late (even though it took her over 10 mins to come out) she abruptly stated her next appointment is at 5:30 and can not allow us in. It was now 5:20, we suggested to cut into our time even though we had pre paid, she honestly didn't care. We ended up driving all the way back to Cypress to go to our regular massage spot. No-one has contacted me, my last text message was sent about 10 mins ago, awaiting response. I really wanted to enjoy my experience. The actual floating was pretty nice, but I cannot recommend this business for the simple fact that it didn't bring me any peace of mind; instead, I got a nasty ear infection. They tell you that the salt in the tank kills off all the bacteria. Well, my doctor and my inflamed-as-hell ear can tell you otherwise.
