If you have questions, everyone is eager to help. The location is tucked away in between several car dealerships so it can be easy to miss, but usually there is a sign out by the road advertising the free trial class. I really wish more people knew about it! It's my favorite part of the week. :)

I searched and searched and tried many Yoga and martial arts teachers. Most people I met are either out there to purely make money, or even with the best of intentions, are clueless and not properly trained to be masters. Finally ran into Shifu Zhou about a year ago and I consider it my extremely good luck. In the plethora of martial arts teachers, Shifu Zhou, stands above all like a titan. He is a truly authentic Kungfu and Qi-Gong master who came to Seattle on a mission to teach the mysterious and powerful arts of Shaolin. I go to the academy 5 times a week and learn both Kungfu and Qi-Gong. My health has improved tremendously. My allergies are significantly down. My gut issues are under control. And I have found a life-long sport to play. When I was doing hot yoga, I was having at-least one muscle or joint injury a month. Frankly I was expecting lot more injuries while playing Shaolin. Interestingly enough, and knock on wood, I have had zero major injuries since I started. A lot of credit goes to Shifu Zhou. He knows each of his student's condition intimately. He is very patient and kind and takes extra pre-cautions to make sure that people are safe while practicing. I absolutely recommend Shifu Zhou without reservation to anyone who wants to improve their health and learn a life-long skill of Shaolin Kungfu.

One of my proudest moments in life was when I joined the Washington Shotokan Association Dojo. The dojo is a delightful spotless and clean, dedicated facility with a floating wood floor and large changing rooms with showers. It's a great place to learn traditional Japanese karate and grow as a person with smart, gracious, and learned educators. they are profoundly dedicated to their students. You can enjoy adult and youth programs. Whether you are looking for a good workout that will teach you self-defense or want an activity for the kids that will teach them discipline and respect while keeping them physically active, WSA dojo is the perfect choice. I had the opportunity to attend different classes with different instructors. At anytime I was very happy to learn to practice differently, something is important to have the passion, and need to learn with love, feeling and respect, you'll never regret. I'm thankful to every one of the educators, senseis, sempais, and understudies I had the delight of meeting in every one of the classes I joined in. All those memories stay alive forever. I continue training nonstop, keeping in my mind and in practice the principles of the repeated Dojo Kun: * Seek perfection of character * Be Faithful * Endeavor * Respect others * Refrain from violent behavior Oss! I hope return to train with you, with my family WSA, soon. With warmest regards, Miloud B.

After the tournament in British Columbia, I decided to join TKD classes under Master Hufana's guidance. Over time, I also did some training with him on Traditional Arnis, a Filipino martial art known for its focus on weapon-based fighting techniques. Traditional Arnis emphasizes not only physical combat skills but also mental discipline and strategic thinking. In 2004, my life took a different turn as I was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the US Army. It was during this challenging period that the philosophy of martial arts, instilled by Master Hufana and the training experiences, became invaluable. The principles of martial arts such as tactics, alertness, preparedness, survival skills, fitness, and the code of the Samurai served as guiding lights in navigating the complexities of a war zone. The teachings of honesty, loyalty, respectfulness, and maintaining integrity at all times resonated deeply with me as I faced adversity in Afghanistan. The discipline instilled through martial arts training helped me to stay focused, resilient, and true to my martial arts values even in the most challenging circumstances.Master Hufana's philosophy not only enriched my understanding of martial arts but also equipped me with valuable life lessons that transcended the boundaries of combat sports. The fusion of Eastern martial arts philosophy with Western military service exemplifies the universal applicability and timeless wisdom embedded in martial arts traditions. With respect, MK-Samurai 2024.

I find that kind of model disgusting'. Didn't know asking if they have a promos was such a negative question and I asked them to elaborate, but have not gotten a response. I'm still trying to figure out why my questions was so bad? (Attached screenshot)

I took the intro class that was specially priced at $19. For an hour and a half, it was an incredible deal that I could not pass up...and it was more than worth it! There were about 18+ people in the class and we started with a warm up on the silks. Afterwards, we watched Mason and 2 other instructors demo on the rope, silks, and lyra respectively. We then learned a few things on the silks and did a quick stretch of the upper body. The verdict? The warmup is NOT a beginner warmup. There's lots of balancing of the upper body on the arms or forearms while the legs are held up by the silk apparatus. As the body is balancing, it is moving forwards, backwards, and twisting side to side. For me, the warmup was great and challenging, but I could see it being difficult for a beginner. Vivian was the instructor on the silks. I found her explanations and demonstrations thorough as I had previously learned one of the tricks at another studio but had not understood it fully until Vivian explained it another way. We were learning how to climb the silks and even though there was heavy emphasis on the use of the legs, I didn't hear any guidance about relieving any tightness in the forearms or the hands during the instruction. And in the cool down/stretching, there was no focus on these parts of the body at all. For the cool down, we paired up and all we did was twist the upper body while pulling on each others arms. Time was up but I wished that there would have been more time for more thorough stretching. Now I realize that there were a lot of people in the class and it was an intro class so I am probably calling out personal particulars, but I was really impressed with the overall vibe of the studio. I like their whole hybrid exercise modality idea. The instruction was awesome. The studio is a great space and I am especially looking forward to taking future classes in trapeze and lyra. Lastly, I find the pricing options a great value.
