Professor Jessica Santos was teaching the adult fundamentals class and was incredibly welcoming and helpful. I had to rent a gi because I left mine at home. She showed me around the gym and a purple belt introduced himself and welcomed me to the gym. The class was 2 hrs which was about all my body could handle- I started training in SD in September but hadn't been consistent the past month and was out of shape! The warm up was gentle and good for all abilities. All the students were very nice and definitely a wide range of experience which was great. Some are fabulous and are really good at teaching and then others are some who either can't teach to kids or are too shy and have zero input almost like it's a requirement for a student to get an advanced belt that they must teach. My son's white belt class had one instructor who barely said anything or made any corrections. Small children are hard to teach and their attention span is not long, having someone who is qualified to teach small kids would be a huge improvement They seem very profit motivated during the summer they want to push kids to their summer camps so they make the testing in the middle of the day which is difficult for parents who work and also if your kids are already signed up for a different camp they basically miss a month.

I searched and searched and tried many Yoga and martial arts teachers. Most people I met are either out there to purely make money, or even with the best of intentions, are clueless and not properly trained to be masters. Finally ran into Shifu Zhou about a year ago and I consider it my extremely good luck. In the plethora of martial arts teachers, Shifu Zhou, stands above all like a titan. He is a truly authentic Kungfu and Qi-Gong master who came to Seattle on a mission to teach the mysterious and powerful arts of Shaolin. I go to the academy 5 times a week and learn both Kungfu and Qi-Gong. My health has improved tremendously. My allergies are significantly down. My gut issues are under control. And I have found a life-long sport to play. When I was doing hot yoga, I was having at-least one muscle or joint injury a month. Frankly I was expecting lot more injuries while playing Shaolin. Interestingly enough, and knock on wood, I have had zero major injuries since I started. A lot of credit goes to Shifu Zhou. He knows each of his student's condition intimately. He is very patient and kind and takes extra pre-cautions to make sure that people are safe while practicing. I absolutely recommend Shifu Zhou without reservation to anyone who wants to improve their health and learn a life-long skill of Shaolin Kungfu.

I had the opportunity to attend different classes with different instructors. At anytime I was very happy to learn to practice differently, something is important to have the passion, and need to learn with love, feeling and respect, you'll never regret. In 2004, my life took a different turn as I was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the US Army. This has now become a pure business, a badly run business. I will not recommend this place to anyone anymore. If you are looking for martial arts, look for something else where it is not all about money and scolding and shouting at children or passing embarrassing comments at parents. I was with this place for over six years but it recently got to a point which was unacceptable. The teacher Yi tries to get 3 to 6 months advance from you and even if something as terrible as Covid happens, they will not refund for a single week. For years they will not give you new uniforms telling you that the shipment is stuck for over 2 years while the pants are upto your child's knees. It's a joke! Go to a place where you and your child will be respected and the teacher is not just looking for money!

It has lots of room for improvement - some of which I will get into the details later. BUT! Compared to some of the other venues in this area, they are above average. Due to the nature of my job, I have been to several meeting/ball/conference rooms at various hotels all around the world. I participate in a monthly training at Bellevue Club, so even though I am not a member there, I get to use some of their facilities and catering food. They offer several types of lunch options. Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean, and American. The food quality tbh is just okay. But okay is okay! It is what is expected of food like this that is prepared for 200+ guests. I am not sure if they make their own desserts or not but I do enjoy their desserts more often than their lunch offerings. For example, Apple Tart (as pictured) was quite good! It was very sweet but the nutty flavors from the pecans and cinnamon balanced it out. I just wish that the food quality is more consistent. Some months, we get meats that are just way over cooked. Some months they come out near perfect. They have several meeting/conference rooms of different sizes and I have been in at least 4 different rooms. The room are clean and seats are comfortable enough. Projectors work and sound system is just fine as well. Zero complaints there. All the service employees I have interacted with have been very nice! I know there is a set minimum purchase for food/drinks to rent the room(s) but I do not remember the exact dollar amount. Based on memory, I did not think it was that expensive. Parking is free but they ask us to park at the Hilton parking lot, which is within 3 minutes walking distance. Just be careful - there are some designated parking spots owned by Diamond Parking. Do NOT park in these spots. You will be fined. I do not understand what Diamond Parking owns a certain number of spots inside of a hotel parking lot. Not cool! Bellevue Club also offers valet parking. I am not sure if this is only for the hotel guests though. I have not tried but I have interacted with the valet parking staff. They are all very nice and cool. That's about it! If you need to borrow a meeting room for 100+ people on the eastside, I can definitely recommend Bellevue Club.
