Seems to be somewhat of a "hidden gem," as our group was alone the whole time. There are some trails around the lake as well, so there are various other activities to do here. The lake is meant for only sixteen years or younger children to fish in as noted by the sign. We managed to catch a bass which was exciting. The water was very calm. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in, and the employee there was so friendly and helped us look at some great gift options. I don't know anything about fly fishing, so it was great to have some guidance. They have apparel, books and gifts, tons of flies, fly fishing accessories, and more. We ended up getting a hat and some stickers. They seem to like the Grateful Dead as the sticker and hat we got had the lightning skull on them - which is perfect, because our friend is a huge fan. We loved the campground. It had direct access to the Betsie River, showers and bathrooms were very well.maintaimed a clean...hot water was never a problem. There's Frisbee golf and horseshoes available..firewood was a generous amount for the money. There's 400 acres of state land to the north directly abutting the property. Mostly trailer and tent camping ( we had hammocks and were allowed to choose the spot we liked with the best trees for setup). They do have a canoe and kayak livery that currently only operates on weekends. I rarely gush over a business that doesn't bring me hot delicious food and cocktails...this is an exception to the rule. Hands down one of the best camping experiences. I have been disperse camping the last few years in order to avoid people and some of the issues that come with group camping ( loud drunk ppl...fascist property managers etc) this was about as good as family camping will ever get and the location is incredible. There's a very clean Mobil gas w a pizza place about 2 miles from the campground...and plenty of activities in all direction. Thank you so much for helping make our fishing trip camping headache free and amazing.

What an incredible evening on the Bay. I loved our trip with Big Kahuna & Pisces Charters. I took…read moremy two kids, aged 5 and 8. They loved it. Everyone caught big fish. From start to finish it was a top-notch experience starting with working with Rachel to book the charter to the patient First Mate Nick and the professional Captain Sonny. We left the dock on Pisces and headed out. Nick started to put out the rods but he didn't just put them out, he explained to the kids all of the equipment, why he was doing things, and answered their questions. Big Kahuna knows where the fish are. In no time the fish were biting. When it was time to reel in the fish Nick was right next to the kids in case they needed help. After we got the fish aboard he even got the kids to hold the fish. When we got to the docks the fish were expertly filleted. Later we cooked up the fish and it was some of the best I've eaten (well, my cooking had something to do with that, too!). All-in-all a wonderful experience. Thank you Big Kahuna, Rachel, Nick, and Captain Sonny for helping create special memories for me and my kids.
