I had a great experience with Mega Bite, from the time I emailed Adam, who was responsive, but not pushy, which I appreciate. I was travelling alone (solo female) and felt comfortable the whole time. I went out with Jarrod and Colton, who were professional and helpful. We caught over ten lake trout and could have caught more, but I was tired from reeling! Overall, I had a really fun time and looking forward to being back.

Adam and Ron were great hosts; likable, personable, good sense of humor, professional, and very knowledgeable. They made sure our family of 6 (varying levels pf fishing experience, including first timers) were taken care of and had fun. All we had to do was show up and be ready to fish. They took care of everything else, including cleaning and filleting the catch, and seemed flexible if we had any special requests. We opted the 6am sunrise to 10am time slot but they run charters from sunrise through sunset. Whatever your preference, I highly recommend them if you're looking for a good fishing experience in the Traverse City area. Visited July 2015

We caught our limit in just a few hours!!

Stellar experience. We booked Megabite last minute and were not sure what to expect. We could not be more thrilled. Adam was an amazing captain and talked us through everything. We had just as much fun talking with Adam and his mate we often forgot we were fishing. We caught our limit before the time was up. AMAZING experience. Will recomend to everyone who comes to Traverse to fish. Make sure to book these guys!!

Thanks to Captain Adam and Ron my family had a very wonderful couple days of fishing with you. We were on the fish minutes after leaving the dock. I've been on a few head boat charters before in Florida and must say that this trip has sold me on private charters going forward. If you're in the Traverse city area look them up for an awesome time.

Awesome!! We could not have asked for a better day of fishing in Traverse City. We caught enough fish for a week, including a King Salmon. You will love Captain Adam and first mate.

The very best! Captain Adam and his deckhand Ron were amazing and did a lot of hard work to get those fish on the line. They made us feel comfortable and like we were all friends! My boyfriend and I got to enjoy a fresh trout dinner that evening while we camped. No other choice in TC.

Captain Adam and his assistant Ron are total pros. My dad, two kids (9 and 11), and I had an amazing time last week - and even caught our limit of fish!! Mega-bite is a super-friendly fishing experience whether you are a beginner or more experienced.

    Great Lake trout!

A wonderful charter for my 13-year-old nephew and I. Adam and Ron were great with this young teen. They made sure that he had a great day of fishing. We caught well over the limit of enormous lake trout (it was mid-August and just about the beginning of king salmon season - unfortunately they weren't biting yet) and my nephew was thrilled. The fish were filleted when we returned to the docks. Highly recommended charter!

Ron and Adam also filleted our catch and packed them in heavy duty zip locks for us to throw in our cooler.

We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in, and the employee there was so friendly and helped us look at some great gift options. I don't know anything about fly fishing, so it was great to have some guidance. They have apparel, books and gifts, tons of flies, fly fishing accessories, and more. We ended up getting a hat and some stickers. They seem to like the Grateful Dead as the sticker and hat we got had the lightning skull on them - which is perfect, because our friend is a huge fan. We also got a birthday card, which we were told are designed by the owner's wife. Overall it was a really great experience and I'm so glad we stopped in.

What a disappointment…read more My husband and his brother hired TNA for a belated Father's Day fishing trip with their father, who'd been talking about going on one with his sons for years. This fishing trip was to be the highlight of a joint family vacation, but, by 5pm the night before the big day, it had dissolved into thin air. Why? Because TNA had thought there were only 2 anglers going on the trip, not the 3, which requires 2 boats/guides, not 1. But there'd been 3 anglers going on the trip from the very beginning, so we're not entirely certain how that information didn't get communicated when my husband called to inquire about/book the trip. To be completely fair, I fully believe TNA was going to do everything they could to locate that second boat/guide even mere hours before the trip and during the busy season, but the set up just wasn't what the guys wanted. Maybe being the lone fisherman on the second boat would be nice if one was going with friends, but not the first ever father/sons fishing trip. Is that when they find out who's the favorite son? It just wasn't going to work. And no one is/was advocating to risk everyone's safety by cramming another brother onto the boat, but, had the angler/boat ratio been communicated to my husband when he called, he could've given his dad a nice Yeti cooler instead. He'll get his deposit back, but is still out the money/time spent obtaining all three fishing licenses, as that's not a service TNA provides. It's just a huge disappointment caused by such a simple mistake, thus the 1 star.

Amy was great to work with...with a great sense of humor and was very adroit at suggesting places to get ice; a.bite to eat etc. She was like the magical hotel concierge you luck out and get when all.of your travel plans are falling apart. We loved the campground. It had direct access to the Betsie River, showers and bathrooms were very well.maintaimed a clean...hot water was never a problem. There's Frisbee golf and horseshoes available..firewood was a generous amount for the money. There's 400 acres of state land to the north directly abutting the property. Mostly trailer and tent camping ( we had hammocks and were allowed to choose the spot we liked with the best trees for setup). They do have a canoe and kayak livery that currently only operates on weekends. I rarely gush over a business that doesn't bring me hot delicious food and cocktails...this is an exception to the rule. Hands down one of the best camping experiences. I have been disperse camping the last few years in order to avoid people and some of the issues that come with group camping ( loud drunk ppl...fascist property managers etc) this was about as good as family camping will ever get and the location is incredible. There's a very clean Mobil gas w a pizza place about 2 miles from the campground...and plenty of activities in all direction. Thank you so much for helping make our fishing trip camping headache free and amazing.

My wife and I each rented hybrids, and it took me several tries to find a bike that seemed functional. Multiple had loose front wheels that wouldn't tighten, but after a few attempts the attendant was able to get one tightened. Sizing and fitting aren't really part of the process -- this was more of a "just pick whatever bike you want" situation. Soon after we left, I realized that my tires were underinflated, so we had to go back for air. And midway through our ride, huffing and puffing to maintain speed, we realized that most of the brakes were rubbing -- both wheels on my bike, and the front wheel on my wife's. At $40 for a half day per bike, this was a disappointing experience. If you're looking for a rental bike to bum around for a few hours, this might be fine, but if you want to go for a real ride I'd recommend renting elsewhere, or making sure that River Outfitters improves their maintenance practices.

Hotel Indigo rented out our bikes to some of their guests so they were gone when we came downstairs. It was the last night of our trip and so we couldn't get the bikes back from the hotel to return them. The hotel said they would drop them off and didn't. The River Outfitters actually went to the hotel and retrieved the bikes for us and didn't charge us anything for going over time or the inconvenience after hearing our story. They were super understanding! I wish more companies would treat their customers like this.
