My wife and I came here yesterday for the 6am charter to celebrate our 31st anniversary. We met Adam, the owner who introduced us to Capt. Bennie and first mate Noah. All were quite pleasant and welcoming. We climbed aboard and were quickly out on the lake. Since this was our first fishing charter, we didn't know what to expect. The guys told us that other customers had shown up with their own tackle and worms. There was no need as all equipment was provided. These guys are experts and by 6:45am we had already caught a salmon and two lake trout. A little later my wife brought in a huge salmon which tired her out. We went out on the boat for my brother in law's "last wishes/bucket list" trip last year. He wasn't in great condition being terminal and on hospice care, but the captain and crewman made the experience perfect by treating him like everything was just normal. Adam and Ron were great hosts; likable, personable, good sense of humor, professional, and very knowledgeable. They made sure our family of 6 (varying levels pf fishing experience, including first timers) were taken care of and had fun. All we had to do was show up and be ready to fish. They took care of everything else, including cleaning and filleting the catch, and seemed flexible if we had any special requests. We opted the 6am sunrise to 10am time slot but they run charters from sunrise through sunset. Went out acouple times with Adam and Ron with my girlfriend in early spring and then again in the fall and the trip was all that I could have wanted. There wasn't a time while we were out that we weren't on fish and the fish we did get were larger than I could have imagined. We got acouple dozen lakers and then during the salmon run we were able to get quite a few very large kings. My girlfriend didn't know how to reel fish in and that wasn't a problem because captain Ron and captain Adam helped us with reeling them in and giving us pointers on how to make sure we get them in. Definitely will be going out again this summer and fall to get some more monster fish!! read more

A wonderful charter for my 13-year-old nephew and I. Adam and Ron were great with this young teen. They made sure that he had a great day of fishing. We caught well over the limit of enormous lake trout (it was mid-August and just about the beginning of king salmon season - unfortunately they weren't biting yet) and my nephew was thrilled. My wife booked a charter with Mega-Bite for myself and a few friends for my birthday. Captain Adam and Ron were absolute pros and run a great boat. We were on the lake trout quickly and caught our limit in good size lake trout. No hits on king salmon as we were still very early in the season (fished in the morning on 7/5/17). Ron and Adam also filleted our catch and packed them in heavy duty zip locks for us to throw in our cooler. Having fished other charters in the Traverse City area, I can honestly say this is the best experience I've had so far. With Adam focusing on the boat and Ron acting as mate running the rods and reels, everything went smoothly. I've been on boats without a mate and while there is nothing wrong with the practice, it can get pretty chaotic when the fish are on or if there is trouble with the gear. Mega-Bite's set up is definitely my preference. Asking your charter if they run a mate might be something to ask your captain before booking, especially if you will be bringing a group. Adam and Ron were class acts, conversation was great, and the fish were plentiful (and delicious)! It was an excellent experience. I will be planning to charter with Mega-Bite again for king salmon as soon as I can swing it. read more
