I deeply appreciated working with Truce Law firm and especially Leslie Beauregard as the attorney representing my case. It took time to work through the legal system and it was completely frustrating - having Leslie there to provide expert guidance as well as being present during the many court hearings. My case kept taking all sorts of twists and turns that were difficult to navigate and having her available to me made a tremendous difference. There were days when I just wanted to quit. I hope to never ever find myself in this situation again where the person you are working through issues with is no longer reasonable. Expensive, Slow, and the Agreement Already Fell Apart I used Truce Law in 2023/24 for my divorce, involving both children and financial assets to divide. I worked directly with Justin. He is convincing, knowledgeable, and genuinely makes you feel like the collaborative approach will protect your kids and your interests. That pitch is what sold me. I wish the execution had matched it. The process involves paying for an entire team Justin recommends: a mediator, a Divorce Financial Analyst, and attorneys for both parties (including Justin himself). At the hourly rates involved, you expect competence. What I got was not meeting the expectation, at least from the Divorce Financial Analyst. The work product was so poor and unclear that I ended up rebuilding the asset division calculations myself from scratch, with full transparency and no ambiguity. That is work the analyst failed to do, repeatedly. Justin also dropped the ball on communication and follow-up. The agreement was not finalized on time. I had to push things forward myself over the Christmas break. His explanation was essentially that he was stretched thin across other cases. We eventually failed to have an agreement signed before the end of the year. The biggest promise of the collaborative approach is that a well-crafted agreement prevents future legal conflict. That promise has not held up. My agreement is ambiguous in key areas, and I am now dealing with exactly the kind of disputes they told me this process would prevent. Any vagueness in the document has become a point of contention. Long process, high cost, mediocre team, and an agreement that is already causing problems. I would not recommend this firm, do your homework. read more

My experience with this firm was deeply disappointing and harmful, both financially and emotionally. My spouse and I hired Truce with the clear goal of finding solutions to maintain stability for our daughter by keeping the family home. From the start, we expressed openness to a variety of options -- refinancing, payment plans, creative asset divisions -- but none of these were ever explored. Instead, when my initial retirement offer was declined, the mediator simply asked what I was going to do. When I responded that all I had was the house, her reply was, "Okay, you're selling. What month?" That was the entirety of the guidance. We were promised expertise and fair scenarios for how to keep the home, yet no such solutions were ever provided. During our initial consultation, we were told that the mediator would review our financials and help identify the best financial options available to us. I specifically understood this to mean I would not need to hire an outside financial advisor -- that this expertise was included in what we were paying for. This never happened. That promise turned out to be empty, and the experience felt very much like a bait and switch. The mediation process itself was mishandled. Separate breakout rooms were used unnecessarily, which undermined communication and strained what had been an amicable relationship with my spouse. Instead of fostering cooperation, the process left us feeling railroaded into rushed decisions we didn't want, without the transparency or support that we were promised during the consultation. The billing practices were just as troubling. Before we even met, $1,500 was billed for scheduling correspondence. I was then charged for messages and drafts that were never sent, for Zoom links resent multiple times, and even for the firm's own need to reschedule. Screenshots confirm that I was billed for correspondence that never occurred. More alarming, I was charged for work labeled as "housing options" and "primary residence scenarios" -- the very solutions we hired the firm to provide -- but these drafts were never created or shared. Despite acknowledging these billing errors and promising corrections, the invoices remained inconsistent and nontransparent. Even the basics were sloppy: my name was repeatedly recorded incorrectly in official documents. The firm's own leadership later admitted that we were also overcharged on hourly rates: $575 for legal work instead of the contracted $500, $265 for paralegal time instead of $220, and $175 for legal assistant time instead of $120. They promised to adjust all bills, apply discounts, and review their processes to prevent such mistakes in the future. While this confirmed what I had already raised, it only fixed their accounting errors -- it did nothing to address the fact that the core services promised were never delivered. To make matters worse, after raising all of these concerns in writing, I never once received a direct response from the lead attorney. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the time of this review, I am still waiting for a corrected refund and an accurate invoice. Ultimately, we spent thousands of dollars and walked away with no solutions, more conflict than before, and the need to start over with another mediator at additional cost and delay. This has added a ridiculous amount of stress and wasted time during an already arduous divorce, which is the last thing any family in crisis needs. Families going through divorce are in an incredibly vulnerable position. They deserve compassion, expertise, and transparency. What we experienced instead was pressure, disorganization, unfulfilled promises, unresolved billing problems, and practices that felt exploitative. I regret ever hiring this firm, and I cannot recommend their services to anyone. read more

It doesn't address a single fact of my case -- just generic PR language about "taking concerns seriously." Let me be clear: my feedback isn't about "frustration." It's about real communication failures, poor follow-through, and a lack of accountability that directly affected my legal outcome. I didn't need a templated apology. I needed a competent team that did what they said they would do. If you're considering hiring this firm, don't be fooled by polite online replies -- look at how they handle communication before you sign anything. Don't hire Truce you will not be happy with their performance. I had the same experience as many of the people in the recent reviews. I have a high conflict child support case. Everything about my case is high conflict, and I let them know this upfront. I guess it's my bad for not reading what was directly in front of me which is the name of the law firm. They would prefer to make peace rather than fight hard for you. They wasted time and money. I would receive emails from multiple different people who then had to go back to get on the same page together when I asked a question then I would get the same answer from 2 people. Which of course, wasted more time and more money. One opposing council came back with an offer that covered only taking my 18 year old some off but did not discuss the other 2 issues that we I had. Truce's first reply was, "this seems like a great offer. You may not get this if we go to court Let's take it." I I did not take it. Fast forward a month, opposing council sent another offer. Again Truce council said, they've come back with another offer and I think we should take it. I got excited I looked at the offer and the offer was exactly the same. No changes. "I asked my council how is this offer different than the last one, and if I didn't take the last one, why would I be excited about this one?" I took them a day or two to get back to me with " well the offer is the same." it was at this point that I knew they were not up to the task of a fight, and we're not willing to put up a fight. They were doing nothing more than padding their hours with busy work to make them seem useful. All in all do not use true law, even if your case is a slam dunk and easy. From my experience, they are not bulldogs, they will not fight tough for you. What they will do is bill you a whole bunch of money for the fact that they have zero process in their office, no cohesion, and a lack of effort to truly fight for you. I'm sure I'll get the same canned answer that everybody else has. My answer to that is Truce, does not take this feedback serious. Every review here in the last year has been a 1 star, and I still had a similar experience the reviewers. I brought this issue up to them multiple times before firing them and nothing was done. Clearly they don't take this feedback serious, all words, no action. Which is why I fired them. Update: My new attorney has had my case for 4 weeks. We are done, got papers signed, no court, and I got what I wanted. Truce cleared just wanted to drag out the money. read more

I hired Sam Collin to represent me in a high-stakes family law case involving parenting time and child support. What I received was a level of preparation, communication, and follow-through that fell far below what anyone should expect when their parental rights and financial future are on the line. Key issues from my experience: Minimal and misleading preparation for a critical court hearing. I was told the hearing would be brief and straightforward. It was not. Important issues arose that I was not prepared for, false statements went unchallenged, and predictable concerns (employment history, financial interpretation, parenting evaluator issues) were not addressed. Failure to explain child support obligations. I received an unsigned order with no explanation of what was required, when payments began, how to pay, or the consequences of missing a deadline. I ultimately learned the payment deadline from the opposing party, not my attorney--creating unnecessary conflict and reputational harm. Financial information filed without clarification. A financial declaration prepared by counsel included expenses I was not actually paying, which directly contributed to the court stating I "needed over $6,000 per month to live." This was never clarified or corrected. I learned in court that I had been removed from health insurance. This was the first time I was notified. My attorney did not raise the issue, object, or advise me on next steps, despite the commissioner explicitly noting the seriousness of the situation. Almost no follow-up after the hearing. After a hearing that dramatically altered my parenting time and financial obligations, I received little guidance. The only prompt communication was from the billing department requesting additional funds. Billing concerns. I was billed attorney-rate time for multiple hours of travel to court and other cost-driving activities that were not meaningfully discussed in advance. When I asked questions about billing and obligations, communication slowed further. Eventually, I retained new counsel. My new attorney independently raised serious concerns about how my case had been handled and recommended that I consider reporting the conduct to the Washington State Bar Association, which I have now done. Family law clients are often stressed, vulnerable, and relying heavily on their attorney for guidance. In my experience, that guidance was missing when it mattered most. Absolute highway robbery and WOULD NEVER recommend them to anyone! I did the initial intake and was told I would meet with the attorney and have a fee of $1000. I was under the impression that the $1,000 would cover more than just a 1hr conversation with an attorney. Especially after finding out the hourly rate is $475 but I was just screwed for $1,000. I should've gone with the first attorney that was charging $250 for the attorney consultation and instead chose the wrong firm. Life lesson for me. read more

I would give zero stars if this was an option. Truce Law took a major part in destroying my life. In May of 2024, I wanted to get a divorce. My husband and I were not living together. He left me after I began suffering with medical issues, resulting in severe disability. He was spending money in a way I did not appreciate, and I did not want to be liable. I called Truce Law to help me get divorced. At first, they said they could do it for 5k, maybe 10k max. I am a human services worker. I care for unhoused individuals with severe cognitive disabilities. I did not go into this field for the money. I was able to pay the 5k on credit cards. I figured; I could eventually pay it off and it would be worth it. The lawyer that was representing me changed multiple times during the time I was working with Truce. It was strange, like they had high turnover or perhaps just poor coordination of care. When I would tell the new lawyer that a previous lawyer had said something they would say they had no record of that conversation... Then they asked for another 5k. Then another. This was all going on credit. I was watching a slow and drawn-out dumpster fire. The lawyers were hurting me more than my husband. As I was nearing my court date, I began receiving notices that I would be paying 15k per day!!! I was 100 percent clear and honest about my finances. They knew there was no way I could pay this. They asked me to beg my family for money. I don't have any close family or friends that I can ask for that kind of financial assistance from. It was completely unprofessional and felt like extortion. They sent me threatening emails saying they would drop my case which would result in me losing my home. I was terrified I would become homeless and now I was 15k in debt. I ended up firing the lawyer. I don't even remember her name. 15k and all I received was a discovery???!!! No. Completely unprofessional and frankly, incompetent. I hope you're happy after coercing large sums of money from a low income dedicated American who cares deeply about our community and works tirelessly to make people's lives better.
