She has assisted us with the New Client forms, and has shown attention to detail in scheduling our in-person consultations. Ohana is a larger firm, 30+ employees, so they have a breadth of expertise in handling finance, tax, accounting, and the logistics of trusts, wills and estates.

The first guardian assigned to us, Pat, had very little bedside manner toward me or my brother, and it was a shock to suddenly lose all say in his care and decisions. It's difficult to hand over control to someone who doesn't yet know your loved one. Over time, though, Pat and I learned how to work together. I never doubted that she had my brother's best interests at heart, and I think she came to see that I did too. I was always there for him -- meeting him at the hospital, going to appointments, and staying with him which helped both Pat and my brother, and also eased his financial burden. After Pat retired, Beth stepped in temporarily, and then Quinn became his permanent guardian. Beth and Quinn have been absolute delights to work with. We are now approaching 11 years with Ohana, and as we enter what feels like "the beginning of the end" for my sweet brother, I am deeply grateful for their continued care and support. The entire Ohana team has been wonderful in helping us navigate my brother's estate and care. If you are fortunate enough to have someone like Beth or Quinn assigned to you, you've truly won the lottery. They are compassionate, dedicated professionals who always put the well-being of your loved one first. This has been a long, emotional journey -- but having Quinn's support through it all has been a blessing. She has worked tirelessly for my brother and has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you, Quinn, for your kindness, dedication, and care.

I knew there were other more experienced elder care lawyers in Seattle; but I chose her for location only. My grief was too huge to comprehend what she told me in the 31/2 hrs. we met. She asked for a number of other things like $6000 up front and the name and number of a lawyer I had worked with in another state. My emotions got in the way of making a better choice, including one who did not ask for a retainer at all. I was unable to read any of the scribbles she put on paper; nor was my financial advisor. I realized when I spoke with the Denver lawyer on the phone and when I looked at some notes from a well spouse support group, that I could do much better. So I made some phone calls and fired Julianne. She refunded all but $1500. Perhaps because she knew that our former attorney was the former president of the Washington Elder Care Attorneys, the refund was quick and complete. The lesson I took away from this horrible experience was: Never pick a lawyer by location! In fact, the lawyer I finally chose a month later told me that he would never have recommended what she was recommending to me. By the way he charged a flat fee for his services and told me that I could call him, and email him about this for as long as I needed to with no money involved.

When I questioned the discrepancy, Mandy looked at her wrist (no watch was present) and stated "I've wasted enough time with you"!! you would think an attorneys office would present a friendly, competent office, but they could care less about clients. Mr. Mullavey was focused on the most minute details of his secretary's desk more than his own practice (micromanager). I saw evidence of a long line of former secretaries at that desk, not to mention what other staffers hinted at to me directly about Mr. Mullavey's difficulty holding onto secretaries and how impossible he was to work for. Then he was nice enough to take a few secretaries out for lunch on Administrative Professionals' Day to a nearby Ballard seafood restaurant. I never will forget the FIRST thing that came out of his mouth as he finally started to speak to me as a human and not his drone: "Don't you think you will have a hard time finding a husband at your current weight?" I guess he didn't know I had already been married for 9 years in the past. BTW, I was only 40 pounds overweight at the time, and at 5'9" I carried it pretty well, am a fairly snappy dresser for work and don't have too shabby of a face, and worked out a lot then. Needless to say I didn't work for him much longer. BTW, I've been happily married for a second time for 14 years now. I'm sure there are really nice staff and attorneys who work there, but Mr. Mullavey was a piece of work. I hope they have Microsoft Word by now...
