Answer a few standard questions, chat about your impending death, and whammo! You've got yourself a legally binding will, power of attorney, health care advance directive, etc. Betsy also told us everything about death we wouldn't have even known to ask. Plus, she and her husband even come to *your* house for a signing party so you get the documents right away. It wasn't cheap, but check to see if your company has a legal plan (ours paid for almost everything!). But it was thorough, painless, and quick. Just like I hope that impending death of mine will be. (FYI: Betsy knows all the good ways to dispose of your body: cremation, burial at sea, composting, being turned into a tree ...)

A few minutes later, I called my sister, who was also waiting-she had the same message. Very strange, since we were both sitting by our phones, and neither of us had any missed calls, and this message was texted, not left in voicemail. We tried to call the office: no answer. An email a few days later requested us to reschedule--in six weeks. If you are going to be dishonest to your clients about something so minor as an appointment, I don't think you can be trusted as an attorney. Then, because they "changed systems," they refused to give us the documents uploaded by either them, or by us, from the prior consultation we had, unless we retained them AGAIN. All of this took several weeks of emailed correspondence. Last, when we consulted with our new attorney, it became clear that this practice had given us incomplete advice about issues related to our father's trust. I would not recommend this practice. He said I should just fill out the forms and email them back, but they were not fillable forms unless you have adobe acrobat. Luckily I have that software, but come on man, it's 2024. Get docusign or something. Gave me an impossible timeline for me to jump on the phone call. We were scheduled for 2 hours after my initial call, but then in the email he said he needs all documentation and forms filled out 1 hour before our consultation. So I had to go through trying to figure out how to get his documents signed and get all my documentation together. Not a realistic time frame so I asked to reschedule. He sent me an email to reschedule the next week but I decided I wanted to wait until I had something actionable. I requested to wait until after I had moved out and wasn't only speculating about my landlord's actions (I didn't want to pay $300-$600 for a phone call when I may be wrong about what my landlord was doing). He then emailed me to refer me to attorneys in Tacoma and Everett. Once my landlord had actually done what I was speculating they would do he declined my matter. When I inquired about other attorneys in Seattle he stated he was the only one. When I asked why he'd refer me if I'm in Seattle and the apartment I was renting was in Seattle he again only stated he declined my matter.
