Whenever I need a project done, I research Yelp for reviews. I needed some trees cut back and reached out to about 5 different companies for quotes. 4 out of 5 gave me a quote with just sending pictures, Troys was the only one who came out to actually look at the project. The other bids came in pretty close to each other cost wise and Troy's was no exception. They weren't the lowest nor highest, but I actually liked the fact that they came out and we walked through the project. I also got some advice on a tree that will eventually need to be taken out. We set a time and date, and they reached out the day of to let me know the crew was on its way. Thankfully they did that because I'd forgotten all about the appt. I found Troy's Tree Service doing a internet search; I booked an estimate online; and only a few minutes later the owner Troy had called me and said he could come out the same day for the estimate. He showed up as promised; and his estimate was fair; and reasonable. His company doesn't have a high overhead like these bigger companies so that saves us both a lot of money. His work crew came 2 days later even earlier than the timeframe I was given. I had 2 big eucalyptus trees that needed to be removed. His crew works very safely; efficiently; and very well together. I received two quotes on Yelp, $180.00 and $225.00. A businesses I requested quotes from responded in turn with requests for photos and I provided them but no followup. I tried to communicate with the company who quoted $180.00 but they didn't follow up. Troy's Tree Service followed up with requests for pics of the trees I wanted pruned. Their quote of $225.00 was based on the photos. I agreed to the quote and I could no longer safely prune the higher branches of the large tree in the backyard. Once two employees arrived I was asked what I wanted done. I explained what I wanted. The photos show before and after. My bad? I paid before the job was finished. Company owners will always have their own justification on who, what, where, why. Pictures paint a thousand words. I support 2 stars because they showed up and cut a few branches. Everyone left before I realized they were gone. Cleanup was fair enough-I can't complain because I didn't take pictures. Have used Troy's Tree Service three times. Had no issues the first couple of times but this last one was a disaster. Sent photos of the palms so they knew 2 out of the 3 were very tall (~40'). Story I was texted later was their "usual guy" who takes care of the tall palms called in that day. The guy(s) who attempted to trim the palms didn't feel comfortable because the palm had "loose skin" so we agreed to reschedule when their normal guy was available. They said they would leave the check I had left for them on the patio table until the job could be completed. When my petsitter arrived later, she said there was no check. I texted TTS and then the check was brought back. Later I received a RING notification and it was obvious in the video that I had a very unhappy neighbor. Come to find out the guys were dropping fronds and bark debris in her yard with reckless abandon and no concern for her safety. Granted she's a bit "extra" -- cursed them out and made them clean up her yard. I don't condone her bad behavior toward them but understand her frustration as they damaged her planter and some other items. She had video and photos. (They did a poor job of cleaning her yard and mine. Also found a cigarette butt in my yard that one of my dogs was about to chow down on.) Of course NONE of this was relayed to me so I had no idea an incident took place. Long story short, when I spoke to the office staff the next morning, no Fs were given. I said I was disappointed and embarrassed by the situation and would never use them again. Giving them two stars for the previous good experiences but feel that's generous. read more

I was so excited when I first found this company. quick response, very polite guys, all spoke English, kept in contact. a little pricey, but decided to go with them anyway. Did a wonderful job on the smaller trees , but not so great on the big trees. I didn't say anything soon enough about them, that's on me, but when I did contact Troy, he blamed the rain for the crooked way my trees looked. They are not real good on the clean up either. Extremely late posting this review. Have used Troy for years and as life long Vegas residents you won't find anyone any better or with more experience. During a large wind storm last fall our big tree blew down in the night. Troy answered my text after hours in the night! First thing he wanted to know was if we were ok! Was there before daybreak. Took his crew 3 days to get the tree done, working well into the night under lights. The tree was massive and very old but it was our "memory tree" for many reasons. His crew is amazing and so polite, respectful and know what they are doing. Look no further for tree services. As I said, we are native Vegas and did our homework. I'm sorry for the late review Troy.
