A great Cuban lunch place! The steam table makes it easy to order exactly what you want because you can see the food. The server was very nice and super helpful. I had the Combo meal with Picadillo, Yellow Rice, Sweet Plantains, and Bean Soup on the side. The Picadillo was well spiced and paired perfectly with the Yellow Rice. The Picadillo was perfect with and without their flavorful homemade hot sauce. I also tried my wife's Lechon (pulled pork). It was tender with a hint of mojo. The restaurant was clean with seating indoors and outside. The restroom was clean. Please be aware that there is a slight surcharge for credit card payments. Legit cooking here! Small inviting cafeteria style food options with about 7 tables inside and 2 tables outside. Greeted by the whole family/staff in English and they were genuinely pleased when we responded in Spanish. The lady working behind the Food station was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We started with 2 empanadas. The chicken empanada was full of chicken and flavor. The beef empanada was not to my liking at all. The meat was like a patty and tasted wrong. I definitely would get more of the chicken empanadas. Since it was lunch we decided to share a meal. We went with Masitas de puerco (fried pork chunks) with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. The masitas were marinated and fried. It was a generous portion, full of flavor and not greasy. Would have loved some garlic mojo onions to elevate but honestly they were good. The beans and rice were generous serving and delicious. There was plenty of food and we still brought some home with us. There was also available yellow rice, lechón, picadillo, and roasted chicken as well as sandwiches. In other words, if we come back here, we will definitely have other food options. Condiments, napkins, and plastic silverware are all self served as is the soda fountain station, Coke products. There is a standalone refrigerator that has tropical drinks available for purchase. Overall, this was a great find in Clermont. read more

Wow!!! What a super find in central Florida - The sign reads Troy's great Cuban food and this is the real deal. It is cafeteria style where they make daily dishes from scratch. Real authentic Cuban cuisine. Very laid back and casual atmosphere. The prices are great and xtremely reasonable. You pick your dish a la carte and basically select what you want to eat. Oh. My. Goodness. This food was amazing. By far the best Cuban food I have eaten outside of Miami and my Grandmother's house. Even my hubs, who doesn't normally like yucca thought this was the best yucca he'd ever eaten. And then proceeded to eat every bit of it. The picadillo, the lechon, las masitas de puerco We're all amazingly seasoned, the perfect consistency, the perfect flavor. The staff was wonderful, kind, helpful. Amazing Cuban food and even better service. We were visiting from Maine and were frantically looking for an authentic spot for Cuban food and thankfully found Troy's Cuban Deli. It was as good as the Cuban food in Miami I grew up eating! It's a casual, cafe style type of place, but the food is delicious. For $10 we got a huge plate of yellow rice, fried plantains, masitas de puerco, and a chicken soup. Incredible! Decent food. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak with rice and beans and tostones with a chicken empanada. The steak was very tasty. The tostones were the bomb. I got food to go. The place is nice but the food is not what I expected. Got a chicken empanada that were okay but needed seasoning the chicken was cooked and I think that's it. The maza of the empanada was good. I got ropa vieja and it looked off from when I opened the container, was not rich in flavor had a tomato can bland taste and tasted like beef with no seasoning. The arroz con frijoles (rice and beans) were good. Rice was fluffy and seasoned and beans were tasty. The yuca has none of that cuban flavor. No onion/garlic/ mojo flavor. Got pork chops and they looked off and broiled not fried. The pernil tasted fine but it was dry. I didn't even try to taste the maduros cuz it was soaking with the ropa vieja sauce which I usually love to eat in that way but since the flavor of the carne was off I wasn't going to eat the maduro. The 4/4.5 star rating on yelp has me disappointed. Not sure if due to the holiday weekend the usual chef was not on schedule and they had a filler OR they ran out of seasoning and garlic. Wish I had a better experience because I just moved to clermont and need to find local Spanish food. Hope I just had a bad experience and maybe I'll try again in the future. read more

Alright, being from Miami, I ALWAYS try to look for my good Cuban/Miami eats, and I got very happy when I found this place on Yelp! As soon as I walked in, we were greeted. As I got up to the register to order, I heard Portuguese.... I got scared. I thought I was going to get authentic Cuban food and not just a store front stating "Cuban Food". So the employees were Brazilian but I over heard one of the workers telling a Cuban customer that the chef is Cuban. I relaxed a bit after hearing that lol. My food - the media noche was just perfect. It was delicious and I felt like I was back in Miami. I will definitely be back for that. My husband ordered the ropa vieja (shredded beef) and it tasted just like Cuban spices, but I felt a little American in it too. I definitely have to come back to taste the rest of the menu. Coffee - one thing I can barely find is good Cuban coffee and this place DID NOT do it. I ordered a cortadito and it just tasted like a regular espresso. :( I was so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the coffee bean they used was delicious and very fresh and great quality, BUT nothing of my cotadito was Cuban. It was just a coffee. FINALLY, I've found a great Cuban spot in my city! I was able to go to Troy's for lunch with a friend and was excited because I have heard so many people talk this place up. Troy's has gone through a couple of ownership changes due to some unforeseen circumstances but the food quality has not dropped off at all. The restaurant is styled in similar to a mom and pop layout. There are chairs and tables in the restaurant but they also have the food set up in front of you. There are various methods of ordering. You can get a box and get food from the set up or order and have it made to order if you are sitting. I got the Chimichurri Steak Sandwich with fries, a beef empanada, and 2 croquetas (I was hungry, sue me!) The food was GREAT. The croquetas were crunchy but flavorful, the empanada was fluffy and filled to the brim with filling and the sandwich was on point. The meat was juicy and marinated but didn't make my sandwich soggy and the sauce was good as well. The fries were all right but I was more concerned with my sandwich.
