Our friends recommended Cosa Nostra but, being a sucker for empanadas, my wife suggested Pico Bistro instead. Located on the bottom floor of the Montrose Street Market, Pico Bistro operates from a small space. After looking at the menu, my wife ordered the #4 (Beef with green olives and eggs) and #19 (Beef, sausage and cheese) empanadas ($4.33 each) with fries ($3.99). I ordered the picanha (steak) served with chimichurri and fries ($16.50). We each had a Coke Zero ($2.50 each per can!) in a can to wash it down with. My wife liked her empanadas, especially dipped in that pico sauce it came with. My steak was just OK...really needed that chimichurri sauce to add some flavor. The thin steak was cooked on what looked like a portable flat top. All in all, I thought lunch was nothing to write home about, except perhaps for the empanadas. The value certainly wasn't there, not to mention a 2.5% processing fee added to credit card payments. Lunch for 2 with tip came out to $43.

We ordered two sandwiches. The K'pabellon is made with shredded beef , black beans, plantains and white cheese. It was huge and needed to be eaten with a fork and knife. I also tried their beef and chicken empanadas. Both were excellent.

Being unfamiliar with Peruvian food, we looked at a lot of happy reviews and asked the server for recommendations. He was happy to recommend the Acevichada Causa, which was truly amazing. We quite literally scraped the plate clean. For our main courses, the lomo saltado with rice was so flavorful and fresh. My husband loved it and ate every bite; the bites I occasionally snuck were so good. I went with the seafood fried rice, which is served in a skillet. Equally amazing! We honestly couldn't even consider dessert, but I have no doubt it's insanely good too. We will be back for sure!

I've been dying to try Huarike Peruvian Cuisine, the somewhat new restaurant in downtown Clermont…read moreever since they opened, but life kept getting in the way. As a huge fan of Peruvian cuisine, I've eaten at many restaurants in California, New Jersey, and New York, so I was excited to see how this one compared. I stopped in for lunch on Monday with a friend and ordered the Lomo Saltado with fried eggs and sweet plantains (well worth the extra cost), along with their garlic rice. My verdict? It was hands down the best Lomo Saltado I've ever had. The rich, savory sauce, incredibly tender beef, and perfectly sweet plantains were absolutely amazing. I almost licked the plate clean! The portion was huge, and even though I should have taken some home, it was just too good to stop eating. The fried egg took it to another level, and the garlic rice may have been the best rice I've ever had. Trust me--when an Asian guy tells you the rice is incredible, you know it's good! For dessert, I ordered the Tres Leches Tiramisu with flaming rum, and I had to record it because the presentation was so impressive. I honestly couldn't believe how delicious it was. Every bite was pure heaven. I've been dreaming about that dessert for days! The service was just as memorable as the food. Our waitress, Julianna, was warm, professional, and made the entire experience special. Her dessert presentation was outstanding. The owner needs to give her a raise--and whatever you do, don't let her leave! Manager Diana also stopped by our table to check on us. She was so friendly and funny, and together they made us feel like family. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The decor is elegant and romantic, complete with a fireplace inside and a gorgeous outdoor patio that gave off serious Miami vibes. A+ all around. Unfortunately I was with a dude so there was absolutely no romantic vibe This place exceeded every expectation I had. Amazing food, incredible desserts, outstanding service, and a beautiful atmosphere. I can't wait to bring my whole family back. Thank you for being part of the Clermont community.
